Cheers to you! Living in the DC area makes beer expensive, so my tastes have correspondingly gravitated towards the less expensive direction. I have to say, though, that High Life is the finest cheapest US beer in the World.

EDIT: oh, and as for the chips, all I can say is that they were there for free, and it was the hash (learn about it at www.dchashing.org) :) On-On!

Some Oreos, some salt and vinegar chips, and some Miller High Life (the Champagne of Beers) at the closing circle at the hash. Now I'm going to my girl's for some chili and corn bread.

Word.

That site seems pretty unnecessary to me. What's to be gained?

Also, I'll back Kel in his assertion that it is plagiarism. Even I, a total noob, recognize that code. You have to give credit where it's due, or no one will respect you.

Thanks! In retrospect, it was a bit too open to interpretation, and I definitely didn't want to leave anyone the impression that I'm not a big player, 'cause I am. IMAGE(biggrin2.gif)

Wow. What will they think of next? It kind of reminded me of the stillsuits in Dune, which made the body the most efficient place to store water. That can't be said, however, for people largely exposed to the elements, with their moisture evaporating into the air as they sweat. Still, anything in a pinch, I guess...

Any pressure to "date" from my fellow high school students or the environment at the time paled in comparison to pressure from my hormones. Phew! College just made it easier to alleviate said hormonal pressure, what with the freedom of being on my own to pursue the womenfolk and all. IMAGE(smile004.gif)

I'm going to go ahead and make the likely unpopular assertion that intelligence is not always an apt substitute for experience, and that experience usually comes with age. I was a pretty smart whippersnapper myself, back in the day, but the experiences and exposure to the world I've had since then have definitely challenged and matured me. It takes time to absorb and analyze all the data that's out there.

It depends on where you live in China - the coastal cities for the most part are doing very well, but if you go inland you'll find pretty severe poverty. China's enormous population makes it unique when considering economic development - it's almost as if they have their own world population within their borders, complete with developed and undeveloped regions to contend with, much like their are developed and undeveloped nations in the world. Their economic development and social "experiments" often take place on the scale of an entire country! :)

Another interesting factoid: China has 350 million smokers! That's almost as many people (men, women, and children combined) as the population of North America. Yikes!

Also, I think some people genuinely stop developing after certain ages, no matter what. For example, I had a boss in the past in his forties who still acted as though he was eighteen - most annoying. By the same token, it breaks my heart to see people who probably could go further, but don't - like a friend of mine who dropped out of college, got married, and became a bank teller, when I know he was intelligent enough to pursue all kinds of things. I recognize, of course, that I'm being very judgemental - it was entirely his decision and he seems fairly happy - but it makes me sad to see someone "step off the ladder," so to speak, when he hasn't reached his potential.

As for me, I reckon I still have a ways to climb. We'll see how law school goes - I'm looking forward to that freshman feeling all over again. IMAGE(smile002.gif)

Woohoo! I'm now free of the shackles of a signature, not that it was so offensive. :)

In addition, I've decided just to go by my abbrieviation, since the simple "Andrew" and "andrew" are denied me. Rest assured, the initials still represent my real name.

Word is bond.

I've found that people have to be challenged in order to mature. This happens in society as people pass through the education system - people have to cope with new challenges as the bar is raised at each level - middle school, high school, college, for example. I think that everyone remembers the difference they felt being secondary students versus when they were in primary school. In my experience as a 26 year old, this hasn't changed for any step, as I've graduated from high school and college, and now am trying to make it in the "real world" (though back for grad school IMAGE(wink0001.gif) ). In every case, I've found you get the humbling experience of relearning the ropes, which is refreshing, and probably a good thing. In some ways, it's daunting not having a clearly defined "next step" laid out to take place in the next four years... I reckon marriage and children don't really count the same way. IMAGE(smile002.gif) I'll probably just go to law school.

That's too bad. I have great admiration for the folks who used to work at the now-defunct Black Isle Studios, and I'm certain a game made by anyone else will just not be the same.

Of course, no telling when this will be out for Mac. ;)

Overwhelming, I'm happy that you're for civil unions, but by your own hard and fast beliefs, isn't that hypocritical of you?

You infer a lot in justifying your opinion. My mistake is doing the same, when instead I should concede the argument, as I don't take the Bible literally and think that nittering over individual verses misses the point, and change to my preferred playing fields, reason and civil law. Those grounds, however, are outside of the bounds of this topic. I withdraw.

Sorry for bringing my own judgment so strongly into this topic, folks. It has been impossible, however, for everyone else not to as well, it would seem.

What do you think? In light of the discussion in Kel's thread, I thought it would be interesting to know how people here feel about the Bible and its role in their lives. I don't intend for this to be incendiary. Let me know if there are categories I missed!
