Most importantly, money shouldn't be borrowed for purposes of mere consumption. A college education, a house (an investment), or a car (for transportation to work, say) are justifiable reasons to accrue debt; a new computer to play games, unfortunately, is not.

Actually, the big thing is to learn to live below your means so you can save, and DON'T DON'T DON'T get into credit card debt at all. I've learned this the hard way, and finally dug myself out of debt. I owe much of this turn around to encouragement from my fiancee, who has helped me become a very cheap person! :)

Now, the metaphorical nuclear apocalypse has come, and I'm being shouted down for trying to reconstruct civilization. Do you not understand why this irks me so?

But your diatribe for all intents and purposes seems to be specifically aimed at Kel. I've read your reviews on the CSR, and though you're typically quite critical, your remarks toward his scenarios take on a personal edge.

Sometime during the beta testing of Bahss things turned sour between you two. Can't you (both) just get over this?

I have a fair amount of savings currently, but I'm gearing up for it to be syphoned away into law school, along with about a zillion dollars in loans. Yeehaw!

Then, when you are mad that about what's going on and try and raise hell, let someone say something this flippant and absent-mindedly boorish to you. I swear, I have had it with people attacking my motives.

I'm just calling it like I see it. Your first post in this topic amounted to a flame against Kelandon's scenario, which you don't like.

This isn't a business; you didn't apply for this job or get hired for it. Anyone can volunteer his time to write and release a scenario if he wants to - you're better at it than most - but there's nothing you can do about "the direction of the community." It's not worth kicking up a fuss over, and it's certainly juvenile to pin your rage on one person, however well-written your barbs may be.

I agree - the guardian is seriously nerfed compared with the agent in GF3. The reduction in the effectiveness of parry, combined with the incredible usefulness of daze has a lot to do with this, I think.

Ah, but the power of science is nothing without:

the power of boldface

EDIT: To spice up my garden-variety spam, I googled "Richard White," and the first hit was for a musician at this page. A hit for our Richard White doesn't occur until the sixth page, and that hit is for this forum. The search turned up 41,400,000 results. He definitely falls victim to anonymous name syndrome (ANS), with which I can definitely sympathize!

EDIT 2: removed an enormous image.

Yes - Acrobat Reader and Preview are free; but Acrobat itself is not, and is necessary (or, as pointed out above, some other utility) to create PDFs.

EDIT: I don't really mean to be picky, Dolphin. It may just be from jealousy stemming from you surpassing my post count so quickly! :)

Google also has satellite images now. It's kind of freaky being able to zoom in on my house back home. Interestingly, certain federal buildings, like the Capitol in DC, are blurred.

Hmm. This is an image from the first page that comes up after entering my screen (and actual) name:

(Its source)

The first hit for my full name entered in quotes, "Andrew Robert Miller," yielded my name appearing on the dean's list of the business school at USC. I didn't know I had it in me! :D

Don't you need Acrobat to create PDFs? That would cost a pretty penny to those (three) of us who don't have a pirated version.

I'll take your word for it, and continue sipping bourbon instead. :D

As for the cola in the morning topic, I don't see how doing so is any worse than drinking an orange-mocha frappuccino monstrousity or eating a Krispy-Kreme donut in the morning. The bottom line is that the sugar is bad, no matter what form it takes. How many coffee drinkers here take theirs black, I wonder?

I avoid coffee generally because coffee on an empty stomach = not good. For whatever reason, tea just doesn't do it for me either.

Note I don't drink, I just know how to make milk moonshine :P

Edit: Sorry, that was a bit off topic. Alo's cheese-barley-wine made me think of that.

Are you serious? How can you tolerate the odor?

The former is an SNES game; the latter is for PSX. Neither of these are close to being an RTS - you may as well be promoting Minesweeper.

It's all about the Greek centurions, baby.

Diet cola for me. It used to be regular Coke, but "Super-Size Me" changed that. The move to diet is a transitional step; eventually, I hope to be off these sorts of caffeine-and-chemical cocktails. Cold turkey, though is an option I refuse to exercise.

Anyone try the new Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda yet (as opposed to asparitame)? I find that it has a very odd aftertaste.
