Basicaly, its a program composed of satelite photos and heightmaps, which provides you with the ability to travel around the world in full 3D, you really have to see it to believe it. http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/ My favorite spots: Mt. Fuji in Japan, tokyo in the background. Los angeles in Urban Area Ortho. Washington in Urban Area Ortho. My own hometown, Kristiansand. Mount Everest. Its simply amazing, allways new things to discover. Edit: Forgot to post the link, silly silly me... Edit2: A better picture of Mount Everest, from the webpage http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/graphics/screenshots/09.jpg [ Tuesday, May 17, 2005 11:55: Message edited by: StD ] -------------------- 33111-CRUSADER-4849 Posts: 662 | Registered: Friday, September 13 2002 07:00 |

Well, Hawk, you said this about Windows having to wait for Geneforge 3, so... HAHA (I don't really think that it is funny) Honestly, you have to download it? I was hoping for a freebie. That way I could zoom in on my house. -------------------- Mugglenet--The ULTIMATE Harry Potter Site. Polaris-- New location. Posts: 2396 | Registered: Saturday, January 29 2005 08:00 |

Is it sort of like this? Because Keyhole sucks. It doesn't work on most places, and it takes up insane system resources. I really can't see whats so much better about keyhole, but I can play WoW and use WW at the same time without any trouble. And I'm not completely sure I understand what you mean Sprung Spring, the application is completely free to download and use... Oh, and the picture of my hometown is as good as it gets in most areas, but the US has the US Urban Area Ortho database which works for many of the major cities (but not all, New York and Miami is not in for example) and another database with detailed black and white imagery for the whole country. I didn't say it was better. I never tried it because I don't currently have the time to. I did try Keyhole though, and found out it, as I stated, sucked. If Keyhole is as good or better than this is, then I can save myself the trouble of downloading. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! Google also has satellite images now. It's kind of freaky being able to zoom in on my house back home. Interestingly, certain federal buildings, like the Capitol in DC, are blurred. Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

But google hardly has any locations outside the US, it takes less resources though. -------------------- 33111-CRUSADER-4849 Posts: 662 | Registered: Friday, September 13 2002 07:00 |

Does google have any locations outside the U.S? I could see a few that might be in Canada or Mexico, but that was it. -------------------- Important Information about Stuff Posts: 258 | Registered: Wednesday, March 9 2005 08:00 |

It doesn't have the whole world, but they're working on it. It will have a lot more eventually.
