I think "autocracy" might be a more applicable/less offending term.

The DEA doesn't have that jurisdiction, and any effort to ban games on such a basis would be rightfully attacked as infringing 1st Amendment rights.

I can't access the article, but frankly, it seems like the first step down a slippery slope of censorship.

My G3 iBook runs 10.3.9 fine. I haven't come up with a reason to justify switching to 10.4 yet, and hopefully won't - $100 is a pretty steep price for just a few extra bells and whistles.

Your second statement invalidates your first, unless only non-Australians in Australia celebrate Halloween.

I won't be doing anything for it tomorrow evening (Monday) - in fact, I'll be in class - but I did just spend a raucous and somewhat Halloween-themed weekend in Boston, MA - hwoo-doggy!

Given that Avernum isn't really about the graphics and that Spiderweb's business model of large free downloadable demos, using a gimmick like 3D that requires special glasses is pretty poor.

...but absent context, less specific.

EDIT: Furthermore, TM, I would figure you of all people would have appreciated the term for the reason Aran outlined.

Huh - I was not aware of that. Is that more effecient than having the engine directly power the wheels? I imagine that such a set up wouldn't allow for acceleration as rapid as a diesel engine directly powering the wheels, but then that's not really what a locomotive is all about.

She had to do it though. I feel bad for her - she was really put through the ringer. More than that though, because Bush wasn't the one to withdraw his choice, he doesn't directly get to eat as much crow as I think he should.

Why do people continue to take bullets for this loser? At any rate, at least for now the status quo is maintained.

Have you ever heard of an electrical engine though?

I do know that electrical motors don't tend to make much noise until current is applied, and then they're doing their job, which in a car's case is moving it. They don't have pistons that fire while they are "idling."

At any rate, I think it's a copout answer to build a riddle around. No offense, Aran! :)

Yup. :P

(TM, I like the word "Besonderwagen". It should be a real word, because it sounds good.)

Electric cars don't have engines though - they have motors.

How about pirate 2 proposing to split the loot 998 for himself and 2 for pirate 5? 2 is more than pirate 5 will see otherwise, so he'd vote for it, which would create a draw, settling the deal.

EDIT: Of course, if pirate four were aware of that, and pirate one was savvy enough, all pirate one would have to do is offer pirate five 3 gp, pirate four 1 gp, and keep the rest for himself. Because this amount is more than either pirate four or five will see otherwise per the rules, they will take it. Thus, all five pirates live, and pirates two and three will be screwed.

Pirates 4 and 5 would remain, and pirate 4 would end up with it all.

EDIT: Also, an electric car isn't a good answer. At least in my experience with a hybrid electric car, the engine doesn't start running until the acceleration pedal is depressed.

Civ II was the bane of freshman year in undergrad for me; Civ IV (or even II again, for that matter) would likely annihilate my law school career. Have fun, guys! :)

The word "ruse" appeared within the last month in a case I read for class. The word "breath" appeared in a drug label I was skimming through for work last week. These are exceptions to what are otherwise profoundly colloquial expressions.

Magazine subscriptions, if they are particularly suited to the receiver, can be great gifts too. Good magazines IMO include Atlantic Monthly, Harpers, New Yorker, and if you can afford it, Economist.

The iPod was pretty nice. Another great gift I received was a ticket to go see The Shins with my (now) wife.

How about a book? I know that I always enjoy receiving books on someone else's strong recommendation. The classics certainly work. One of my favorites is "The Phantom Tollbooth."

The trouble with sending nuclear waste off-planet is the unacceptably high risk of a problem at lift-off. The last thing we want is a rocket full of nuclear waste blowing up shortly after take-off and scattering it for miles across the land. :(

Marlenny, I'm 27. Maybe the fact that I'm perpetually in school keeps me youthful. :D

And yes, Detta, I did attend UK for grad school. I also was raised in Louisville.

EDIT: Also, no worries, Aran! I can't grow a beard to save my life either. :)

Or at least it may be offensive to some gay people. It's definitely a decision in keeping with the values of his society in Utah. I wonder, were he born in Massachusetts instead or raised Unitarian, if he would arrive at the same conclusion? I believe that the answer would be no.
