Well, not all of it. Pachtar's Plate and such don't reappear, and some weapons have lost/regained their allure over the decades (Jade Halberd, anyone?). And in A4, the Orb finally disappeared, owing to the lack of elevation, I assume...

Come to think of it, Pachtar's Plate got me thinking... why didn't any of the other adventurers construct elaborate tombs for themselves (assuming a few died happy)? Did they just admit that it isn't worth it with all the other graverobbing adventurers running around?

...did the previous bands inspire the Tests?

I'm more curious as to the backstories of some of these weapons, really... for one, who was Eliavri (sp?), and why is his bow so good? How did the Justice Lance come about?

I really love the room for creative writing here... if this scenario comes to be, I expect some really good writing for when the evil... well, thing, would kill you. A variation on "It opens its gaping maw, and you awake drenched in cold sweat. It's gone." would probably be appropriate, but I'd love to see the final result.

And furtheremore, i'm not saying we mustn't have rules, just not the idiotic ones. And there should be no holes in them!!!!!!

I seem to remember something by Terry Pratchett to the effect of, "Five exclamation marks in a row is a sure sign of insanity."

(Anarchy seems more like the natural state of the biosphere. That said, it's not always pretty. In fact, it could get rather heated rather quickly... so I agree with Drew.

Anarchy seems like a good idea, but there are enough people who are too stupid and cruel out there that the "system" wouldn't be stable.)

I still can't believe that people actually watch the World Series of Poker/Darts...

And since I missed most of the Dr. Who debate, I definitely think that the older series were better. It was just good to see it come back (heck, I missed all but two episodes last season due to not having a tv, and having a life).

(And I also agree that baseball is better live than on TV)

This can be explained much more easily on a plot level, anyway. If all the PCs fail against their evil side (or whatever the enemy turns out to be), then none of them will be left to awaken the others. You could do some easy string manipulation stuff at the start of each day and have the characters that survived wake up the others.

Aimee? Did she go planeswalker-esque before being exiled, or after it?

Personally, I had always wondered just what happened to her. She definitely could've helped turn the tide of any of the Avernum conflicts.

So, with that precedent in mind... Steve Irwin for President!

Eh, if you're going for sci-fi, then Doctor Who is the way to go. But I'm rapidly becoming addicted to the show nip/tuck. Really impressive writing and characters... and it helps that one of my roommates has the first two seasons.

Baseball on TV is good. Basketball is more of run-foul-run-shoot(interrupted by foul)-free throw-run-foul...

Unlock Doors is required, I believe. If that's not it, then you have to go break some crystals and re-kill some undead, like Thuryl said.

EDIT: typo.

I can't believe Irwin died... which is to say, I rather expected him to die in a rather unusual way, just not so soon. Something like "wrestling with an alligator at the age of 92".

And now, a 'crikey' of respect and loss.

Crikey.

There are definitely a few Chileans lurking around the boards... chicho comes to mind, as does Nazgul. However, Nazgul's out for a while, and chicho doesn't come around much as of late. And I'm not sure if either plays Avernum.

Boost Gymnastics and Defense when you get the time, as a nearly-unhittable pole-weapon wielder is a serious tank in A2.

I think this thread needs to die, and both of you need to switch to instant messaging (or at least private messaging... see the "Message" icon up in the corner of each post?).

But seriously, how can anything in BoA amount to 50 MB? You'll never get anyone to host it, much less download it.

Seconded. Anything with such abilities needs to be dealt with swiftly... and of course, the overkill makes the wights' death animation that much more fun (at least with the BoA graphics).

The bigger idea is to try to blend aspects from two very different cultures in a still quite limited game.

This plot is very, very weak. (And the punctuation is a bit bad. You don't need to add those line breaks.)

An ancient artifact? "Things get complicated?" This is about as cliché as "go kill stuff". I strongly recommend fleshing out your plot idea... a lot.
