Right, I just finished summer calculus today... so no more homework there. :D Heck, I finish my last day of work in about 7 hours... :D

I still have about four weeks until my fall semester starts, so I finally get to enjoy my "vacation"...

But anyway, that's not important. Best of luck with homework, Magma! Return with all due haste!

Hm... I feel a bit better about mine. But how about:

"The Sirius Cybernetics Corporation's only attempt at a decent security system was spoiled by a string of near-burglaries on Rigel 6, where a ring of histrionic burglars sat outside pressing the buttons on their targets' doors all night. The next day, the building which housed the customer service department of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation was firebombed."

Let's see, I've heard bits of the radio series (as Wikipedia can't seem to clarify just how much), and I've seen the TV series, which was a pretty decent job. The radio series was done incredibly well, with just enough of the interesting digressions lumped in to the necessary plot. I have yet to see the movie, though I heard it was pretty good.

And most importantly, I've read all five books. Twice, at least. Heck, I named my iPod "The Guide".

(Were it not for the fact that Imban would've spoiled it, checkboxes might've been better for the poll...)

Yes, and that's what would make one isolated Vahnatai sighting even more impressive/foreboding/unbelievable. It would do interesting things to the plot... and it would approximate the whole "I saw aliens" cliche.

Someone to check the English. :D

But seriously, and no offense meant by my remark, such a project would need graphics, interestingly-designed board towns, a plot arc of some sort (whether or not it follows the scripts is up to us), TONS of dialogue... and a bit of combat. And would there be a pre-built party?

I'd be more than happy to do towns. I feel they're kind of my specialty.

Alternatively, you could go far enough into the settling of Avernum where Erika/the Triad created the moss and the trees... otherwise, it would be very, very dark for the entire game. (Like A4!)

Hm... there's an idea. Set a game early in the settling process, and try to track down any surviving member(s) of the First Expedition... because... they know something? Came in contact with Vahnatai and it all gets hushed up after the endgame?

Right, so you're playing the Windows version then, right? I managed to fix this one quite some time ago, but I guess Jeff never uploaded the update I sent him... oh well.

I'd like to point you to HERE, where you can get the latest version. Yes, it says it's for Mac, but you really only have to copy over the file "t11kharpaer.txt" to the folder which contains your version of the scenario. That should fix your game.

(All of this over Windows not being able to handle a reference to group 1000...)

Right, my memory regarding A2 is a bit rusty... but look around the big lake that you should be stuck in, towards the northwesternmost corner. There should be a town full of hydras. You'll find a bar there, I believe.

I've been slogging through Karen Armstrong's The Spiral Staircase... on a parental recommendation. It's interesting stuff, about an ex-nun who lived with undiagnosed epilepsy for a while, and about trying to return to secular life... it's just not the kind of reading I've found myself capable of this summer, thus, "slogging".

I've been so stressed out that I really, really just need to sink my teeth back into some good sci-fi. If not that, then Three Nights in August.

Naturally, it didn't help that the caves shrunk so much in A4.

I'd like to see a bit more of the role-playing element, honestly, so I agree with the Darkside/Avernum Nethergate-ness. Either that, or have items to help you get through the game that aren't pointy (don't say shields). Like, say... torches. Or rope. Heck, even a shovel (who else wants to kill a zombie with a shovel?).

Ah, I stand corrected.

But the problem with any Avernum game that recreates the First Expedition, as we keep discussing in so many threads, is that everyone dies. Then again, some might take it as a challenge.

But it'd make for a pretty depressing ending.

Ladies and gentelemen, it appears that the TM's long-winded moniker thread has succumbed to the disease known as UBB, and is no longer with us.

Congratulations to WikiSpidweb, who appears to have crashed it with posting the entire... well, something. Religious doctrine, it appears.

And on that note, I feel inclined to ask: How many topics on Spiderweb have died this type of death? I know that the first Mountain of Shadows did... but surely something else must've done so.
