I thought it would be harder, which is why I asked originally. Did you do lots of the side-quests or just run straight through? Were there any parts that were particularly difficult? -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I have my trusty Reader's Digest Character Naming Sourcebook, but I haven't been using it for Blades. I have a rather odd situation: virtually all of my characters are sliths, so I've chosen a relatively limited set of sounds (S's, K's, T's, A's, O's, P's) and tried to make relatively distinct names out of new letter combinations. The consonants tend to be unvoiced to get a sort of hissing effect. For monsters, I do much the same thing but with voiced consonants, so I get letter combinations of G's, B's, D's, and rougher sounds like R's and N's. For humans, though, I use the Sourcebook. Choosing names by linguistic origin is pretty handy (Latin or Greek if you want a classical feel, English or Celtic if you want something that sounds very normal to an English-speaker, Hindi if you want something that sounds exotic, etc). -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I just realized that I have written more than a hundred posts in the past week. My Veteran status topic was on July 22nd. That's an average of about 14 per day, or nearly one every waking hour. At that rate, it will STILL take me 67 weeks (roughly 15 months) to get to where Alorael is now. I collected herbs and made my own potions, personally. *busts out the hint book* You can get the potion recipe from Townsend in Formello and the elixir recipe from Walner in Fort Duvno. If you click on each Recipe in the characters' info screens, they should tell you how much Potion Making skill you need. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I have no idea about S M Adventurer (someone else who actually knows him?) but you can definitely explain your opinion about the scenario at the Lyceum's ratings page for it. If you like playing BoE scenarios and telling what you think about them, there's a Scenario Ranking Contest going on right now. Play and rate as many as you can! If you have absolutely no idea what CSR is or what these links mean, the FAQ and Rules page may help. [/shameless plug] EDIT: Er, and SW's page with the scen gives his e-mail as srmboe2 (at) yahoo.com. Since "Nightfall" was based on the Isaac Asimov story and there have been no lawsuits yet (and "Johnny Favourite" was based on a movie, etc.), I'd say you don't need his permission. You may need an awful lot of custom graphics for such a scenario, though.... -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Alo is the only one over 7500, yes. Drakey's pretty close behind (7112 at the present moment), but he has a custom title anyway, so it would never show up. I don't know if anyone without a custom title is even "Frolicking in Postland." I think the highest thing you'll see around here is "Guru." -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I looked at it in the editor, Micael. How do you think I know what rooms are inside? Well, there is the ending combat bug -- when you end combat, your party may be placed in very odd places, ie one step in front of where you started -- but it would be hard to exploit in this case. You could try summoning a whole bunch of monsters and convincing BoA that there isn't enough space where your party is to end combat, so it will place you somewhere else bizarre, but there's really no point. There's nothing inside anyway. (I mean, there's a throne room, a temple, and a bedroom, but there's nothing in each of these rooms.) -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. I wrote this a few years back for a class assignment. The assignment was to parody a poem. Most people don't get it the first time they read it, but they definitely get it if I read it to them aloud. Shall I compare thee to a heap of dung? Thou art more pungent than a pile of crap; Though never ‘fore hath hymns to crap been sung, Art thou not like a praiseworthy mishap? Or shall I lie and call thee beautiful; For thou art like the rose, the sun, the moon: Thy petals are at night apart spread full And ‘tween thy buds a heav’nly body croons. Perhaps thou mightst be call’d a stimulant: Without thy loving touch and sweet embrace, Man’s wit, his principal part, downward slant And limp and lifeless doth the ground it face. Thou art a falsely love, a not true friend; Thy form shall be remade ‘til time doth end. EDIT: Evidently I was 15 when I wrote this. That's Lost Bahssikava, not Lost Assikvas! The town was in A1, not ZKR. The nephilim were on the surface with humans. A1 mentions this when you first arrive in Avernum, and A3 mentions that the Ratbane clan onced existed in Valorim (you can read this in the Xian Tome, among other places). A1 explains (right away, in Fort Avernum) that the Empire has been exiling nephilim in addition to humans, but they arrive in Avernum at a different location. How they evolved is another question, one that the Trilogy does not answer. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. (Had to open up the Editor for this one.) There are stairs leading down there from the Lecture Halls, at the southwest part of the maze filled with gremlins. (You get to the Lecture Halls from the Student Quarters, from the west stairs in the Dining Hall.) I am seriously going to make a FAQ about VoDT. Okay, I'm assuming you mean the quest to get information about mining, rather than the quest to clear out the mine (which is fairly self-evident: kill the monsters in the mine). To complete that quest, you need to get some papers out of the School Library. Specifically, use the control panel in the far northwest. Get the mining scroll, not the other one. I'm guessing you mean Bruning, the archer in the inn in the second city, Sweetgrove. Go to Marralis. South of there is the Vale Infestation. Elram is in the northwest corner. -------------------- Arancaytar: Every time you ask people to compare TM and Kel, you endanger the poor, fluffy kittens. Smoo: Get ready to face the walls! That door can't be opened. The Geneforge is in the area called "The Geneforge," which is south of Benerii-Uss Holding and east of Benerii-Uss Shaping. You can get the key in either by killing Akkat or searching a cabinet in Benerii-Uss Holding.
