ef - If they're on your property and you don't want them to be and you've told them not to be, they're trespassing. At least over here they would be.

No, David. The last refuge of the incompetent is violence. If one can't do what's right and logical, the first thing one does is to do what other people tell them to do; the second is to hurt whatever's confusing them. And if someone decides to ignore the prominent sign outside my house declaring it a solicitor/evangelizer/idiot-free zone, even after I silently point it out, they deserve whatever's coming to them. It's almost as good as the CO2 horn I keep handy for telemarketers.

Also, I never claimed to be anything but an intolerant *******, so that tack doesn't work on me.

EDIT: I don't use boards that practice automated censorship. Bye, all.

I used to have problems with Witnesses. That's when I decided to keep a bucket of pig's blood handy for those annoying visitors.

Just kidding, but I do keep a Super Soaker nearby to douse anyone who refuses to recognize the "no soliciting" sign, and I have no qualms about using it.

I don't go around telling people to join my religion. Why should other people do it based on the "evidence" of a book of folk tales and mythology?

I doubt that anti-Jew rallies in Europe are any more representative of the population than Klan rallies are here.

Oh, and come back to Desperance. We need more of a feminine touch; it's beginning to smell like an old locker room.

And I give in. If anyone wants to see my photo, IM/mail/AIM me.

As a person pigeonholed as "queer," I understand what it's like to be looked down upon by society. I don't get the full brunt of it like outed homosexuals do, but I see just enough to understand what it's like.

Right now, I'd say the cultural bias against g/l/b/t individuals is greater than that against any racial or ethnic minority, even Arabs; that isn't to say that, in general, many racial and ethnic minorities have suffered much more from institutionalized discrimination than any other sort of minority.

I agree with Jeronimus; it's not just the Deep South. Just because there are some rich black CEOs in New York doesn't give the entire North and Southwest a pass on racism. Racism is alive and well in the United States (and elsewhere; must I bring up Pim Fortuyn?), and it goes in all directions.

Arguing over whether x is moral is moot. Morality differs from person to person and viewpoint to viewpoint.

TM! Bro! Why'd you do that?

Stop cribbing my jokes, b!

I look surprisingly unlike any of you. I am glad about that. I would like me to be fat while I smoke.

You're all freakish. Khoth, you look like my grandmother. Micah, you look like my grandfather. Scorpius looks like I'd want to punch him in the face, and Ed looks like I already have.

Plus, requiring citizens to pay taxes would also smack of power-wielding, especially if the citizens refuse to comply.
Anarchy doesn't mean that people can't work together. The ideal government is one formed by informed agreement between the people of a nation -- the common name for such a government is democracy.
The "arch" in "anarchy" means 'rule', not 'government'. The difference between, say, a paternalistic corporate oligarchy like the United States and an ideal anarchy is that in one, one class rules another (the corporate leaders rule everyone else), and in the other, people rule themselves. Self-governance.
I believe that the best way to achieve the environment in which an enlightened anarchy may be obtained is via the removal of excess power from the hands of those who rule today and redistributing it amongst the people; this is basically done via regulation of industry, improved education, a greater emphasis on democracy, and social welfare for the less fortunate.
To paraphrase Eugene Debs, I do not wish to pull the capitalist down to the worker's level; I wish to pull him up to the honor of being a regular citizen.
The current party that I support as being conducive to the fundamentals of anarchy is the Green Party of the United States.

Alcohol consumption didn't reduce significantly during Prohibition. Crime did, though.

As long as people can refer to 'the government' and 'citizens' as separate entities, we've got a problem.

Really? He's always said he believed in God to me.
Second, Christianity is so named for Christ, meaning he must believe in Christ.
He does. I find it silly, but different strokes, I guess.
Third, I am not the "second type," and I despise the second type, people who just use God's forgiveness as an excuse to do whatever they wish. I lie occasionally, and that is this only sin I have ever committed, as far as I know.
I'm dying over here.

Why would Alec think I am not very Christian? My hatred
If you were talking about me, this would be it. Note that I snipped off two words that unnecessarily narrowed down the statement.
but my beliefs do adhere pretty closely to the teachings of the Bible.
The Bible != Jesus.
I try to be nice, and I actually do have an open mind, believe it or not; I can look at any argument and see and understand the reasoning on both sides, so I'm not just a biased fool.
Anyone who's read your arguments on the Crossfire topic knows this is laughable. You dismiss almost every statement anyone else makes offhand. Hell, even when Alec says he's Christian, you continue to argue it.

No matter how it started, it's a Christian holiday, and it's getting less and less Christian as time passes.
Relies on the concept that Christian tradition is good. Post-Paul Christian tradition is to kill Jews, too.

SHould we grow up with completely blank minds, and learn only from our very own experiences? I really hope that's not what you're suggesting...
Funny; that's the very basis of my spiritual beliefs. Although cut out the learning part and keep the blank minds.

I have one last question. Why is it bad for people to believe in God... [snip whining]
Oh, get a life!

For Eris' sake, we already limit tobacco smoking to the point where you either have to go to a nightclub, a bar, or purposely visit a "smoking area" to inhale the stuff. How about allowing people to smoke in the privacy of their home? Ever thought of that?
If you're going to ban everything that could potentially be harmful, you're going to ban everything.

There's no solid evidence showing that drugs being "illegal" and "underground" and "counterculture" has either a negative or positive impact on consumption over the long term.

I would agree that hallucinogens need to be heavily regulated for safety's sake, but things like methamphetamine are only more dangerous for being illegal.
