Yeah, what Motrax said. All piercings, besides on the ear, disgust me, and most tattoos do as well. I'm sure there are some times when tattoos aren't so bad, but still... not very often. Jeez. Relax people. I'd just like to take this opportunity to put in a kind word for tattoos. Tattoos are an ancient art form, and can be very meaningful and beautiful. You can dress up your body as you would decorate your house. Sure, there are horrible tattos, like prison or bad biker tattoos. An old roommate of mine had a circular celtic design put on her, which ended up looking like a liver spot from further than two steps away. But there's a tattoo shop right around the corner from where I live, and the stuff that comes out of there is just amazing. The people working there are real artists, whether you like tattoos or not. The only body art that really annoys me is people who get their tongues pierced. I don't think they have any idea how distracting it is when they're talking to people, nor do most of them realize that many people with their tongues pierced have an extremely annoying habit of clicking it against their teeth when they're bored or concentrating on something. I don't have a problem with tattoos, but I have to admit that I'm not overly fond of facial tattoos. There's one guy I see around town a lot who has a snake on one side of his face, some Chinese symbols on the other, and what appears to be a tiger on his forehead, and I personally think it makes him look like something that escaped from the freak show. -------------------- And the Glory of the Light did shine upon him. A mate of mine had his knob done. We were all cringing and crossing our legs tightly (like he couldn't!) and saying "Do you want ice with that?" He had it taken out again after a few months. We never could figure out why he had it done until we saw the woman doing it. Also, I ran into this crusty type with ACAB ('All Coppers Are Illegitimate') tattooed in 3" high letters across his forehead. He could never understand why he kept getting busted. I understand it isn't my right to tell others what to do with their body, but that still doesn't change my opinion. Just like that modern "artist" who pooped in a bunch of cans. I think it's gross, but I'm not gonna do anything to stop it. And on a slightly on-topic note, The Illustrated Man, by Bradburry, is a good book.
