1. Male, and I've got the mutton chops and 'stache to prove it. 2. Somewhat. There was a time when I would have answered "very" to such a question, but things have changed. My belief is just as strong as ever, but I just don't quite care as much anymore. About anything, really. 3. Vegetarian. I have been my entire life. 4. No. I don't believe in attributing quantitative value to human life, as the value of human life ought to be viewed as infinite. Killing five is no worse than killing one, as in both cases the same line has been crossed. 5. No, for much the same reason as the above. 6. Here I would say yes. But I'm not differentiating here based on the quantity of the lives, but rather quality of life. The children enjoy a greater quality of life, in all likelihood, so it makes sense to spare them over the elderly. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. A Russian accent on a woman is incredibly sexy. It doesn't hurt that Russian women seem to be inordinately attractive much of the time. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. I won't give a definite departure notice as of yet. I'm not the type for publicized comings and goings, and I reserve the right to drop by whenever I'm feeling unspeakably bored. :P However, I can state quite confidently that I will never again be a regularly posting member here. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. Yep. It was in April of this year, and the debate was just about to take off when I sprained the wrist. Being unable to type effectively, I postponed the debate. Unfortunately, once my wrist healed up my motivation for going through with the debate faltered. It never ended up taking place, and instead Ash had a short-lived debate with Alec regarding drug policy. I sometimes regret not going through with the debate, but there's little I care to do about it now. My motivation for such a posting commitment is still none too strong, and there's also the matter that I'm virtually through with SW and only returned recently on a whim. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. quote:At least not when I'm utterly trashed. There was more than what I described going on...at one point, I was virtually trading the girl off with another guy. As an interesting sidelight to the story, that night I ended up passing out on the lawn outside the house, and woke up the next morning with a mysteriously sprained wrist. No regrets, of course. Although I do have a sense of propriety, it does tend to disappear rather quickly with inebriation. Generally, I would say that public displays of affection are tacky and thoroughly inconsiderate. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. I share AM's sentiments. As long as the girls are fairly attractive, it can be quite a pleasant sight. If they're unattractive, however, or possess an obviously lesbian appearance (butch haircut and such) I might not observe with as much interest. The last time I saw two girls making out (at a party last year) one of them ended up making out with me a very short time after. So perhaps that has altered my sentiments on the issue somewhat. :P -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. I am something of an anti-intellectual and am entirely devoid of any ambition or drive towards my studies, but I do thoroughly enjoy the opportunity to get away from home and live the college life. Also, in case anyone was wondering, I stopped coming around because I hadn't yet been able to get hooked up to the internet at college yet. I haven't left for good. Not yet, at least, although things do look rather dreary around here. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Desp. uses punBB, I believe, and it seems to work rather well. I suppose I would be fine with a board change, as it would be somewhat exciting and possible community-revitalizing at first, but it's extremely unlikely that a change will come anytime soon. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. That reminds me of another somewhat embarassing moment of mine- I dropped my diploma the moment after receiving it at my own high school graduation, after addressing my Dean (a Mr. Washington) as "Mr. Subramanian." -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. quote:King Crimson is one of the most well-known progressive rock bands ever, and got its start in 1969. They are still around, but Fripp has been pretty much the only constant element in a lineup that has undergone many changes. I seem to recall you commenting in an earlier thread that you listen to nothing but classical music, so I suppose it's not surprising that you haven't heard of them. Fripp is a complete genius, though, so the physical similarity can't really be a bad thing. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Well, I answered "Pop," but keep in mind that I rarely listen to a damn thing made after '79. I am a classic pop/rock fan, but I have a soft spot for progressive rock as well. In terms of my favorite artists: The Beatles; John Lennon; George Harrison; Paul McCartney; Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young; Traffic; The Kinks; Steely Dan; Chicago; The Zombies; Argent; King Crimson; Gentle Giant; The Beach Boys; Cream; Blind Faith; Derek And The Dominos; The Hollies; The Byrds; Jefferson Airplane; Simon & Garfunkel; Procol Harum; Soft Machine; and Marvin Gaye. There are others, but they're all marginal so I opted to leave them unlisted. There have been quite a few, but the one that comes to mind occurred one Friday night in my fifth semester at college, shortly after I first started to drink. I had made the mistake of eating a small pizza by myself right before I took to the booze. A Colt and a Boone's later, I began to feel rather queasy. Certainly I was not in full possession of my faculties by this point, and I made the mistake of putting on my shoes before running out into the hallway towards the dorm bathroom. Predictably, I vomited twice on my way to the bathroom, making a monumental mess of my clothing and the floor. By the next day the news that I was responsible for the stench had spread to the entire populace of the floor, and I was forced to deal with numerous snide comments for the next few days. Quite an embarassment. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Reasoning is destroyed when the mind is bewildered. Marvin- you bear a significant resemblance to Robert Fripp (of the band King Crimson). I don't really have any more pictures to show at this point, although I might have a good many more in the next few months. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. Theodore Roosevelt, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, George Harrison, and Vladimir Illyich Lenin. I find all four to be thoroughly interesting, if not admirable, fellows, and as everyone in the gathering would be capable (although Gandhi would certainly not be thrilled) of conversing in English, I'm sure the evening would be at least somewhat enlightening. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. Roman Catholic (8%) I'll posit that the reason why I didn't score highest in Hinduism is that the test overly generalizes many Hindu beliefs. Certainly there is diversity within Hinduism, but I'm of the opinion that progressive Hindus are entirely in agreement on a belief system, while those still following archaic versions of the religion muddle up this unity. The general belief of progressive Hindus is that the Bhagavad Gita is the only relevant element of scripture for modern Hinduism. The BG deals almost exclusively with the abstract concepts of Brahman, atman, reincarnation and moksha, and doesn't attempt to dictate how humans are to live their lives. As such, I chose "Not applicable" for all of the last set of questions, and assigned high priority to each question. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger.
