Political Compass Test I figured it was about time for another run-through of this. It's been a while since the last one, and with mod elections coming soon, it's important to know where everyone stands. If you've taken the test before, please take it again. I know my results change somewhat every time I take the test. My new results: Economic Left/Right: -6.88 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.28 -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Although I have moderated at TCOA and Chance, with positive feedback all around, I do not moderate at either forum any more. The original TCOA died out some time ago, and I have not been involved in the replacement forum, PhoenixNinjas. I also left Chance some time ago, as it had become quite dull there, with no new blood or excitement at all. I dedicate the vast majority of my time online to this forum nowadays, and as a moderator I will hardly be distracted by outside commitments. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. As I've stated on numerous other occasions, I prefer Avernum. Like Kelandon, I was first exposed to Avernum, and that's my major reason as well. I just generally have a problem navigating in the Exile interface, especially in combat. I dislike true 3-D games as well. The isometric interface is most in keeping with my gameplaying instincts, honed by years of playing Diablo, Starcraft, Fallout and the like. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. I'd keep the $50,000 check. Greed is not a major vice of mine, and I've always liked a sure thing. I generally don't take major risks in life and although that manner of living may be a weakness, it's kept me out of physical and emotional harm, for the most part. I'm not a gambling man. Give me that $50,000 and let me get out of here. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Reasoning is destroyed when the mind is bewildered. There hasn't been the slightest mention of the CoC in any of my elections posts, either. My platform is for flexible, non-invasive moderation, and moderating through a cookie cutter document is anathema to my principles. I'd be up for the debate Friday afternoon, but I'd only be able to stick around for a short time. quote:Innocent bystander? Ms. Strout has been guilty of some extreme incompetence and rudeness over the years, and her management of the BoE tables has been careless and slipshod at best. Ask any active member in the BoE community what he thinks of her, and you'll get similar sentiments every time. If I believed for a minute that MM, given mod powers, could manage to send Linda packing, he'd certainly have my vote. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. As it is, I'm old enough and just wise enough to be rather invulnerable to such tactics. Dolphin, I believe, is just aware of that as I am. On all sides, it's nothing more than a bit of light-hearted banter. Certainly she has charm, and certainly I am aware of and appreciate it, but I doubt there is any attempted manipulation in the works here. My sincere condolences, Eagle. Others have already showed much more eloquence in their responses than I am capable of, so I will make this brief. Make an effort to move forward from all of this. Maintaining feelings of revenge or dwelling on the accident is not a productive way of dealing with its consequences. Attempt to look forward and put the sorrow behind you, as soon as the hurt loses a bit of its freshness. -------------------- Stughalf "Delusion arises from anger. The mind is bewildered by delusion. Now that some of that hot air seems to have passed by, I'll proceed to make my case for the moderatorial position. As my first comment certainly implied, my most important asset is almost certainly my always cool and level head. I am as such invulnerable to any of the violent fits of irrationality of which some of my respected fellow candidates may occasionally suffer. Rationality, patience, and consistency are my bywords. My moderatorial experience and record indicate a chameleon-like flexibility unequalled by most of my competitors. I have served as a moderator on two major Spiderweb satellite fora, TCOA and Chance. The two boards had very different climates, and my capable moderation of both boards points to my versatility as a moderator. At TCOA the prevailing climate was one of general goofy fun and barely-controlled mayhem, and as always I adapted myself and my moderation to the situation. I was a productive moderator and interfered very minimally with the forum's goings-on. Chance possessed a different climate entirely; its members were fairly young and impressionable, and as such a more controlled environment was most appropriate there. I somehow fit in just as well as I had in TCOA, and although I didn't adjust my views to suit the mostly conservative population of Chance, I never picked fights and kept my debating civil. As for my moderation, it was more active, although certainly not draconian. I conferred with my fellow mods whenever problems arose, and I insisted on unanimous action by the moderating staff in all cases. If I am elected to the position of General Moderator, you can be sure I will apply the flexibility and adaptability I have displayed in my other mod positions to my new job. Those who know me here are well aware of my mellow, humble, tolerant, empathetic personality. I will never be heavy-handed or overly aggressive in my moderation, keeping an open mind in all situations. And, like Kel, I have been known to stay up until all hours of the night, and as such will be able to deal with certain situations earlier than others. In cases of a truly egregious offense such as the Eraserhead situation not long ago, I will not hesitate to act and solve the problem on my own. However, in most other cases I will discuss courses of action with my fellow moderators, and attempt to arrive at unanimous, prompt solutions. In all of my actions as moderator, I will never fail to be courteous, gentlemanly, and humble. As a longstanding member but not quite an oldbie, I have a thorough understanding of board history and respect for older members, but insight into the situations of newer members as well. I am the candidate in the best position to offer flexible, even-handed, even-minded moderation, and I intend to prove it to all of you, once I am elected.
