I had to fight them all. Firstly because I'm sad in that kinda way, secondly for xperience and loot, and thirdly because I always manage to get my spellcasters close enough to be attacked. And after that doomguard fight, they're HP wasn't high enough to allow them taking a few hits.

Thanks for all the feedback. Even you, TM. A lot of you criticised the scrambled, jumbled flow (or rather, lack of it), and I'd like to point out that this was deliberate. It's something I should have mentioned at the beginning when I first posted, but we all make mistakes. The whole thing was designed to be confused - I can tell because of the scribble at the top of my notebook page that says "4am - his first dream". I was, if I recall, writing it as someone who wakes up staring at the sky. I later renamed it "Moonbeam", perhaps stupidly. I don't know.

I also never suggested it was good in any way. :P In fact, this is quite an old poem I wrote when I was about 15 or 16. The material I write these days is much better, in my opinion anyway. I shall post some when I have my notebook handy. And, you'll all be glad to know, I now own a thesaurus, and have been studying poets like Byron, Blake etc for a coupe of years now... Which will probably not have improved my writing at all!

No, "moonbeam" was all about powerful imagery, broken up, as if by blinking. It's about colour, passion...

Well, erm, I remember somebody once posted a song on here, a while back (may have been Ichsi?), and I was really amazed. I've been writing poetry for a long while, but was never really brave enough to post any. Well, 'til now. The light of my life found this and already plastered it over other message boards, so I thought I'd post it here. Erm, feel free to rip it apart or whatever. I'm looking at you TM :P

So, it's called "Moonbeam"

-----

An artist's dream on a revolving door
A burning world brings tears to my eyes
And the soulless, lightless, deep cold faces
Keep watching as the doors slow down
Is that an angel out there in the darkness
And is she pointing the way into your heart?

Is the only way I can sleep at night
To stare up at the gates of heaven?
To stand beneath the bleeding sky?
To dream that I'm warm, with you, inside?
I've seen a angel outside in the darkness
Aglow in a blaze of hope and limitless hate.

I can't walk past the faces without you
But the angel will carry me forth
I can't live with the emptiness inside me
But the angel will carry me forth
And when the moon waxes in the starlit sky
I'll be thinking of you in my arms.

Go for personal/sentimental ones. The best present I got was a cuddle from a really close "friend". That, plus a hand-knitted wolly hat.

For others, I try to select a part of their personality and play up to it. For instance, my girlfriend loves yellow roses, So I got 11 yellow roses delivered to her house, one every hour. Then, for the last one, to make 12, I took it, and we had dinner. It resulted in the best day ever.

My bad. Thanks for that Thuyrl. ALthough I, like Kel, was under the impression abandonware was legal... hmmm.

Anyway, you can usually find great games (freeware and shareware mostly) on Compilation CD's from certain shops for free. For instance, I got a free CD at a local computer shop a while back with tetris clones, free ASCii RPG's and even a demo of Nethergate!

Actually, abandonware games are more and more available, and there's always the ones with rubbishy graphics like Aran suggested. ADOM is good, despite the ugliness of it.

A Google search, or ZDNET.com should throw some good 'uns up.

Well, I am a guy, yes. The jury was out for a while, but inevitably, the evidence spoke for itself...

As for the whole fish-thing, I'm woefully inexperienced in the whole matter, so I won't add anything of value. Except of course, this rather lame joke...

What did the fish say when he swam into a wall?

"Damn".

SupaNik wasn't a name I coined for Spiderweb, and is about 4 years old. I don't remember the funny story behind it, or if there is one...

Well, my real name is Nikki, so that's the "Nik" bit. As for the "Supa", I think I was going for "super", but either spelled it wrong, or it was taken. And it sounded okay, so I kept it.

Ethical Survey in General

1) Male.

2) Not at all.

3) Neither.

4) It depends on the people/person involved. Stuck with five strangers and a friend, I'd kill the five strangers. Otherwise, damage limitisation.

5) It depends on the man. Should he be smiling, drinking coffee, or a friend of mine I don't think I would. I'd perhaps be more inclined to throw myself off, thus saving the five people.

6) Yes. Not because I'm ageist, but because it's much easier to rationalise killing 5 old people who have had a life.

It WAS a call for Alex's knighthood, as well as Ash's. I've been calling for Alex's knighthood for ages now, but no cigar. Ash, on the other hand, should be knighted too. If I can be bothered later, I'll add something to my sig to that effect. Thanks for pointing that out everyone! More pies for you!

Ahem. And cult? Which one?

Sleep in General

This is from the last thread. I've changed a little of it around to fit my current habits...

-----

I voted for three hours sleep. I don't tend to sleep at regular times, and that's just an average of all the sleep I had this week divided by seven. I can go one or two days without sleep, but then have 8 or 9 hours in one go. I haven't done this for a while though - I'm trying to normalise myself, so that I'm not so anti-social.

None of that is caffeine related. It's probably a mental condition, but since it doesn't interfere with my grades, or my health in any (noticeable) way, I haven't seen a doctor. It does have one great side effect though - really vivid, lucid dreams.

An interesting sidenote - Margaret Thatcher used to get just 4 hours a night!

-----

Lately, I've been sleeping for 4 or 5 hours a day, but usually in one-or-two hour spurts, in what I like to call "Power Naps". There is far too much beauty in the world to sleep through. And looking at the stars is one of my favourite pastimes.

I love the Cockney accent (from London). That's gorgeous. If it's okay to use the word "gorgeous" when talking about sounds that is.

I really dislike British RP. Far too stiff and sterotypical of us.
