By Bob fiasco, I think he means you were one of the collective of Tims.

—Alorael, who is sure there are more names missing. This list won't even fill a page!

I mentioned concentration as well, Willow. Yes, it helps that graphics aren't used repeatedly, but towns aren't either. There are very few different areas to enter, so almost all of them are unique.

—Alorael, who loathed the interchangeable A3 towns with generic people. If they weren't worth the effort to make fully, they shouldn't have been made at all.

SMoE's ban in General

Your title doesn't change when you are Canned. That is the point of canning; it is a punishment for spam. If you eventually get rid of your Canned status, you will go back to the normal title system. If you come to Drakey's attention, he is in a good mood, and you are very well known and have a hefty bribe handy, you may even be able to get a custom title.

—Alorael, who wouldn't want to count on getting any specific title. Drakey likes to have fun with his admin powers.

From Spiderweb's perspective, it would be best to have nobody post here except for help and everyone work more to buy more Spiderweb games. When the posts are not only not about the games but not about anything else, they don't like to waste their money. I miss Misc. too, but they closed it for a reason, and co-opting General is not a good solution.

—Alorael, who agrees than both spam and fun are in the eyes of the beholders. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people beholding these boards, and most agree that many of the topics should be closed. If you can't live without spam, look for it elsewhere.

Your Canned title will be removed when you have posted usefully for a long time. As TGM said, the more you ask, the less likely it is to happen.

—Alorael, who has already heard SMoE complaining that he has been gone for two weeks already. Still, the ban didn't start immediately. He'll be back on the 30th.

For all you Mac users, an emdash is a simple shift option dash. And with that, I declare this topic unspeakable spam and a personal affront.

He's member 42. You know, the answer to life, the universe, and everything, according to a certain Mr. Adams?

?Alorael, who would not bring that up any more than necessary. 42 is, for reasons unknown, a sore point on these boards.

1000 is Thousand. Undoubtedly someone's idea of fun, just as Ed Lemur took 2000 and named himself 2k. 3000 is an invisible newbie.

The members from 1 to 10 are:

Spidweb - the official Spiderweb admin account.

Krizsan - Mariann's account, not used for a long time.

Schrodinger

TM - currently known as Deacon

Mystery Man- was a moderator, then a member, and then left.

Stareye, or *i (get it?) - BoE posse. You'd better know him.

Drakey

Scorpius - Had many names and accounts. Was a mod, then a member, then left, came back, left, etc. Currently gone.

Tie-my-shoe - Ex-mod who remained a moderator long after he was gone.

Dubh Amacath - Better known as Timon the Minstrel. Again, was a mod, then left.

?Alorael, who hopes that makes things slightly clearer. If not, well, you should have been around for those good ol' days!

Since newbiehood is such a vague concept, the definition shifts depending on your mood and everyone else's.

?Alorael, who will just have to say that newbie is as newbie does. And stealing signatures is very newbie-ish! Tsk, tsk.

You're a newbie as long as certain individuals who shall remain unnamed use generic insults against you. Once they become specific, you've become a tried and true member.

?Alorael, who could also make being sniped for signature theft part of the criteria. But that would lead to too much work for him, so he'd appreciate it if you ignored this.

—Alorael, who always has this problem with Tripod. Can you post a link to a part of your site that links to the picture?

Good plots aren't necessarily related to Avernum. In fact, I'd say at least half of the best BoE scenarios are only loosely Avernum related, if at all.

—Alorael, who in fact can name far more bad Exile scenarios than good ones. And no, he doesn't really count At the Gallows or Spears. They're set in Ermarian, but the story is entirely new.

This topic dies of sniping.

The Normans were from Normandy in France. I don't think they were in any way related to the Vikings. However, as Bob said, they may have been involved in the invasion.

—Alorael, who agrees that the Vikings' non-raiding culture has been all but forgotten in favor of their warlike forays into every corner of the world that they could find. They did have more life than coastal raiding, although that was the most documented by other groups.

I think the wilderness is designed a bit better in Nethergate than in A3, and I definitely prefer the "alert" sound that comes with each message.

—Alorael, who agrees that the details help. The size also seems to make Jeff concentrate more on making what he does have count, so the game is more concentrated in a way.

Out of the thousands of members here, not one has complained about online ordering that I can remember. It's very fast, too.

—Alorael, who would say that Spiderweb delivery speed depends on your location. He believes about a week is common for orders in the U.S., and overseas shipping is of course slower.

There's no chance of copies running out because you will almost certainly be able to download BoA. Bandwidth may become a problem, though, so pre-order your spot in the downloading queue today!

—Alorael, who could see the advantage of pre-orders if Jeff had no idea how many copies would be needed. But after 9 games, not including those not programmed by Jeff, he'd better know how many customers he has!

Try using the editor to reset all hosile towns. This brings all monsters, friendly and hostile, back to life. Unfortunately, I think your problem has to do with stuff done flags, which nobody has figured out, but it's worth a try.

—Alorael, who would instead advise using the character editor to add the spells you would get as a reward.

On a Mac, you need the preference file, located in the Preferences folder in you System Folder. On a PC, you need a file with a different name, possibly <game you're playing>.dat in the data folder. This will remove registration, so you'll have to email Spiderweb and ask for a new password.

—Alorael, who believes re-registration requires your name and the address you ordered from. If more information is required, Jeff will ask for it.

But it's so powerful that being able to cast it in combat would be unbalancing. Instead, you have to plan ahead and use it before battle.

—Alorael, who would say the real bug is the fact that Spirit Lance can't be cast in combat mode in version 1.0. It can't be cast out of combat either, though, since it's an attack spell.
