Good plots aren't necessarily related to Avernum. In fact, I'd say at least half of the best BoE scenarios are only loosely Avernum related, if at all. —Alorael, who in fact can name far more bad Exile scenarios than good ones. Hmm.. your options are poor.. Those music choices.. sure, I like black sabbath and rainbow.. but they don't have ANYTHING to do with Avernum. Just because you (referring to all people) like a specific music, doesn't mean it's fit to a game. (Atmospheric music is different thing than the music you normally listen..) Not sure if I've heard music of Dio or Megadeth.. (Megadeth is heavy rock.. that I know.. I think :) ) Ps. I don't understand the last question: Why do you have to only listen to currently popular music if that selection was too narrow? I find there are a great many options left out there, I don't know most of the otions listed, and I'm definitely not the type who'd be accused of sticking to 'current popular crap'. :P Also, concerning plot: You basically give the options of making a complete nonsensical parody, or sticking closely to the Avernum series plot. What are you guys talking about? Are you ignoring half of what I'm asking? I mean, I consider anyone not familiar with music from the Renaissance and/or the Romantic period to be the kind of person who only listens to what's goin' on in the "now" because I'm a jerk like that. As for Ronnie Dio...well, you'd have to be familiar with the man's work to understand the humor. Just ask Jack Black, he'll tell you. ;) Oh, and last time I checked, "somewhere between Avernum and random idiocy" was a WIDE range of plot choices. Actually, Romance/Renaissance period is the only one I checked. :P Still, I think it's narrow. For example, there is a lot of cool fantasy music on the web freely available, if you know where to look. You didn't list that option. Also, you didn't list the option of copying the background music of other games such as Final Fantasy or others. The music used there is also pretty nice. ;) And I interpreted that bit about "between Avernum and random idiocy" as a mixture of both, not as a range of stuff. If it's a range, it's far too broad and vague. There's everything in there, comedy, tragedy, serious stuff, adventure, parody, history lessons, action, etc. Too vague. You know what's too vague? Your complaint is too vague! Honestly, techno has no place in REAL life much less virtual reality. Any idiot can do techno...and punk...and rap...actually, any idiot can ask a producer to just get them a composer, so that's the state of pop music now (and has been for some time). And NO the ability for anybody to do it is NOT the point of music. Music is SUPPOSED to be art and art is SUPPOSED to require skill and technique on behalf of the ARTIST. I'm sorry. I'm getting all flustered. I'm insulting you when I should be perfectly capable of civil communications. Let me try to reiterate in a less offensive way... I guess what I'm asking is: "Are you defending today's losers against the likes of Ludwig Van Beethoven and Michael Praetorius?" I'm done debating. Iam being childish by doing so. But I just realized that I do need to point out something affecting the poll: Ronnie James Dio is a singer. It's hard to find music suitable for this kinda game. I like to play the game without sounds (Because it slows down the game) and listen to Iron Maiden. If Avernums had musics they should absolutely be heavy metal. PS. Trogdor is so right about techno. Music needs skill to be good. I agree about techno and rap. But most punk bands have talent, with the exception of a few (Sum 41). They write their own songs (usually, unless it's a cover album, in which case they obviously did not write it. Julmuri's signature brings up a good point: Zep should have been a choice. Although I prefer Iommi's guitar work to Page's, and Geezer's bass lines better as well....and Ward's style over Bonham's need to show off in a solo (drums don't deserve solos :P ) ...but I think I like Plant to Ozzy. I mean, Ozzy sings WAY better blues than Plant (have you heard the Ozz at blues? He's awesome!). But Plant rocks more. Also, Ozzy plays the mouth harp in a medley on the first album. Talk about an instrument that doesn't get used enough ;) . Of course, Dio annihilates both of them, but he isn't generally associated with Sab. What was I talking about? Duh.....whatever. I wouldn't drive to either if you put a gun to my head. I honestly think that your selection was too limited, but I would not call Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, and so on 'popular crap'. I wouldn't say that rap and techno require no talent, either, as I have heard truly good rap and techno. And how well Pink Floyd goes with BoE differs by what years you're talking about, of course. I wouldn't say that the stuff from the Waters years would fit well with Requelle's Nightmares :P EDIT: I don't listen to music while playing BoE anyway. My computer is too slow, and BoE hurts it bad even without Winamp running.
