Don't spam and don't try to get other members in trouble, Kel. You know better. This is your last warning. —Alorael, whose name also starts with A more often than any other letter, although not more than 10% of the time. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Any novel that used Tyranicus in neither a tongue-in-cheek manner nor due to a process analogous to the one Kel outlined has gotten mislaid on the way to epic and lodged firmly in camp at best and disaster at worst. —Alorael, who will at least give it the credit of involving no unnecessary apostrophes, unpronounceable consonant combinations, or deliberately opaque vowels. A does not go before E unless you have a good excuse, like received spelling. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I like composers. Especially, but not limited to, baroque composers. Best musician is an equally impossible choice, but I'll put in a vote for Dan Laurin, who is both a wonderful player and a wonderful person. He also has strong opinions on music and is not afraid to tell someone that what they are doing is the musical equivalent of drawing on the Mona Lisa with crayons. —Alorael, who will admit to partisan motives. In the Keep of Rentar-Ihrno, there is a room with an ordinary floor and a pair of runes. Drop pants on one rune and stand on the other rune. I don't remember which rune is for pants and which is for you, so try both. —Alorael, who found that easter egg to be the zenith of A3. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Okay, I did now and I'm not exactly sure why I couldn't before. The song flute is a tonette, which is a relatively recently invented instrument designed basically to be cheap to make and easy to play. I think it's between the garklein and the sopranino recorder in size (is it painfully shrill?) and not quite recorder-like in design. Since I've never played one or heard one played by anyone competent, I'll reserve judgement. Since it's all one piece and presumably plastic, isn't it at least always close to in tune? —Alorael, who can't think of any intrument that doesn't sound terrible when played en masse by enthusiastic children. Simple woodwinds are probably the best besides things you really can't get wrong because they'll only produce certain notes. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Charging blindly forward worked for me. You can't get into the fort even after killing everything that moves? —Alorael, who remembers purchasing a key from someone in Fort Remote. He can't remember where it was useful, but it was. If you didn't get it, prepare to backtrack through many pylons just in case. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

There is a Mercuric Plate as well, and there are two of one of them. I think it was leather. There are two Shielding Knives. I haven't kept track of where I found things, but I've got a pair of them from somewhere. —Alorael, who would prefer to think of this as a list of items of interest rather than unique items. Among other things, it's a good way to find a quick cash infusion when you need one. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Blademaster is the title given to mods on forums that they moderate. Everywhere else they get their regular post title. Custom titles take precedent for mods who have them. Seletine and I were the only non-custom title mods for a while, but Kel rejected his and went back to the Blademaster racket. —Alorael, who will do bad things to someone if he becomes Postaroni, Pizzabella! under any circumstances. Heads will roll, posts will be summarily edited and/or locked, and unpleasantness will ensue. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I can see plausible connections between lutefisk and Great Old Ones. Rotten canned crabs are just a little bit repulsive. —Alorael, who now has a perverse desire to taste lutefisk. Mods don't have a tough and grueling task. We're all enjoying our sinecures, I assure you. Slightly farther down the page is a thread about a trainer, but the download doesn't work and nobody seems to have it. —Alorael, who can't imagine what you would need to change the day for in the demo. It's a drug. It gives your party health and energy over your normal maximum, but if you use it you get hooked and if you don't keep using it for diminishing benefits you'll go into withdrawal, take damage, and experience similar bad things. I consider skribbane moderately useful for the endgame and a bad idea for any other time. —Alorael, who also thinks skribbane is delicious, nutritious, and all his. Prrrrecioussss. Houghton will order you to rescue a certain person from Almaria and then retrieve a box before you get sent to Fort Remote and allowed to pass the barriers. You have to do those particular quests in order. —Alorael, who will add that you will be told quite clearly when you can head north of Fort Saffron. I definitely noticed a difference between having Enduring Shield and not having it when I first got the spell. By the end it made less difference, but it was still a noticeable and helpful difference. Then again, none of my characters were really built as tanks. Casting Enduring Armor while you have Enduring Shield active replaces the latter with the former. Casting Shield with Armor active does nothing. Armor may increase dodging more than Shield, but the obvious advantage is extra health. The health is nearly as much as Augmentation and stacks, which means that the two together add more than 100 hit points for about 70% increase in health. Very nice. —Alorael, who recalls that Kel had a solution to the Flats cave that was both much easier and much more dependent on abusing the engine. He can't actually remember what the solution was, though. A refresher would be nice. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

I thought Alex and typed Aran. Obviously I haven't gotten the second doublethink tablet from the Temple of X'el'vii'apos'troph'e. I just couldn't find the striped green orb for the third pedestal in the hidden mad monk complex under Gebra. —Alorael, who really shouldn't let this get started again. Aran posted a description of the Xian Skull for those in the know. It wasn't spam and I don't think it was killed by bug. It went inactive or got locked and went the way of all old threads. —Alorael, who will warn you that clapping normally does no good. You have to produce the sound of one hand clapping three times, which can best be accomplished by wearing the Xian Gloves. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Given the low requirements of Spiderweb's games, I think Rosetta will probably handle games written for OS X but not Intel. It's the ones that never make it past Classic that might get lost in transition. —Alorael, who would keep an eye on the various OS 9 emulators for Mac just in case. Or keep an eye on the possibility of running Windows on an Intel chip to play the Windows version of older Spiderweb games, as unappealing as that may be. No. Towns might lose items if there are too many in one screen, but I've filled Fort Monastery with large amounts of junk and never had any of it disappear. —Alorael, who believes he managed to get up to six "pages" of container space filled by the end of A4. Your problem sounds like you didn't push all the crystals on the lower level of the Keep. Until you do, Erika won't appear and you can't win. In fact, you shouldn't get teleported back at all if Erika is on your side. As soon as everything is ready she'll appear and let you get to the control panel without teleportation. —Alorael, who believes that there are 10 crystals to push. This is a rough estimate, though, because he can't quite remember anymore. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |
