How I can be a Moderator? I'm going to be REALLY happy if I can be moderator in the "Geneforge Series" game board...

And another question: if I can't be a moderator, can I change my rank to "Shaper" title? I know, I am only an Apprendice, but I will be honored to be ranked as a Shaper...

Horewer, thanks for the attention.

To be a moderator one has to have been here a while, established a good reputation, exhibited excellent use of grammar and punctuation, and have general approval of the other moderators. During this process it is said there are many difficult trials and tests and is not for those faint of heart.

Custom titles are awarded on an honorary basis at the discretion of the admins. You cannot change your rank yourself. As of this time, you have not yet accumulated the prestige for a custom title.

You have to be around for while, show that you're trustworthy, and demonstrate that you know the rules before you're given the chance to be a moderator.

You can't get a custom title unless an admin feels particularly nasty and inflicts one on you. It's almost never the one that you want, though.

EDIT: Yeah, what Stareye said.

You know, why the Sliths are green - because of their scales.

Maybe you know why some slith eyes were once red - ´cause the demons, which led them were red.

But why are the eyes of the Slith Lord Followers red? Because they see the remains of their enemies always before the battle begins!

Another thing that seems to be needed is a large post count which leads back to staying here awhile.

A large post count is not really a major factor; some quantity is needed, I grant you. However, it is a large post quality that is much more relevant.

Warning, not scaring. You do know that the truth behind Spiderweb (or rather below the door - *gestures at the turtle pit*) is far more hideous.

And guess what, you stick around and eventually you realize custom titles do not matter one wit, as does karma, that modships are rather a heavy responsibility than a nice position, and that a thousand more or less on your postcount isn't really that important. You are an oldbie when you realize being an oldbie is nothing prestigious.

Another interesting note is that you're less likely to gain a custom title or moderational power if you constantly ask.

Well, there's no reason to snuff out all his hope. There still might be some, considering he's still new.

He will, however, have to stay for more than a couple days. ;)

Mods don't have a tough and grueling task. We're all enjoying our sinecures, I assure you. And our access to the tea samplers.

—Alorael, who can attest to the fact that a post count won't get you a custom title. It can, in fact, prevent it.

You can get canned, although that's not exactly a custom title.

Canned Vlish...

I reckon that would be just about as nasty as the canned squid I found one day on my adventures in to the weird and wonderful Asian market.

Also found canned bugs.

If you think that's bad, clearly you've never left a punctured can of crabmeat in an unrefrigerated pantry for a month.

Can of crabmeat is nothing.

I have one word for you.

Lutefisk.

It was way in the back of the pantry. It became increasingly obvious that something in there was well past its best, but the exact source of the problem was harder to track down.

What was the thinking behind that, anyway? Who woke up one day and said "Hey, you know what? I think it'd be a good idea to soak fish in a deadly corrosive poison for a few days before I eat it!"

Well, and opinions are mixed on this issue, but many believe that somebody came and burned some of the Viking's food stores. All of the wooden drying racks. So all of the dried fish got burned, and sat in the ashes, and it may have most likely rained. You would get a natural lye. Times being what they were with constant famine, people probably picked up what they could of the fish remains, soaked it in water to be rid of the soapy remains of wet ashes, and ate it.

Soaking it in lye breaks down the proteins and turns it in to fish jello. Of sorts.

That might mayhap be the most surrealistic thing I have ever read in an online forum. Good job.

I can see plausible connections between lutefisk and Great Old Ones. Rotten canned crabs are just a little bit repulsive.

—Alorael, who now has a perverse desire to taste lutefisk. Just so he can say that he did. And opine on the subject. And possible put the rest of his life into perspective.
