Most of Shakespeare's material is stolen. That doesn't make it less compelling. —Alorael, who prefers Much Ado and Macbeth. One is clean, wholesome fun with a stretch of clean and wholesome, and the other is what a tragedy should be: excessive gore, witches, betrayal, suicide, and slaughter. He's only there if you rescued him, obviously. If you have the quest, you did. Ghall-Ihrno should be in the guest quarters slightly south of Rone's lab on the first floor of the Castle. He's in the first room on the south side of the hall, I think, behind a door that was locked before you rescued him. —Alorael, who would look for the usual suspicious unexplored blocks surrounded by explored areas on the automap. You've complained about two slightly different problems. One is a strict definition of what is permissible speech. Any company is entitled to whatever such conditions it likes, and you probably agreed to something of the sort when you registered. Even if you didn't, they have the right. You have the right to stay away and the right to "boycott" after being forcibly removed from the premises. The latter is simply petty: if you can't follow the rules, why did you join in the first place? Particularly, crying free speech is meaningless in two ways. You don't have any such right on private forums, and any such rights seem to be only mildly "violated." Prevention of nastiness doesn't actually prevent information from being exchanged. Your second complaint is that the mods only follow the rules loosely. They abuse power, delete posts, and so on. That is an entirely separate issue, and quite possibly a violation of the GameFAQs rules, not that that is a meaningful distinction. Boycott is still the wrong term, however: if you find the mods' practices distasteful, you can leave. So can other. If enough people leave, GameFAQs falls apart. If it doesn't, its policies and their enforcement appeal to some group of people, and that is its target audience. —Alorael, who would like to know what you are doing on Spiderweb. There are rules here regulating both the information that may be shared and the manner in which it may be conveyed. Is your complaint one of degree of regulation (TM gets away with it usually) or fairness (an effort is made to ensure that everyone obeys the same set of rules with the exception of TM)? I don't think it's possible to summon mages. I certainly never got the exponentially increasing summon problem. —Alorael, who noticed that enemies are more likely to summon help that actually can hurt the party. Fortunately, the degree of summon spam was turned down from earlier versions. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Decreasing experience gain doesn't make for a longer or better game. It makes for frustration. The ideal is a balancing act wherein the party has enough experience after completing one area to move on to the next, where it will be challenged but not overwhelmed. Slower experience means larger areas with equal experience gain overall, sharply increased difficulty, or mindless and repetitive random monster killings to get the needed experience. —Alorael, who believes that online RPGs have a term for that: grinding. It is generally considered a bad thing, although some games (Diablo) make it work for them. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Bakedness is like what you expect in a bakery. A perfectly baked product occasions no comment. Any deviation from absolute bakedness must be catalogued. —Alorael, who isn't quite sure of the bakedness (or, more precisely, unbakedness) units. Would they be the negative joule second? But nobody ever talks about the trials, why they were made, why they're not finished, what they're for, who keeps refilling the reward boxes, and so on. —Alorael, who prefers to think of bakedness on a reversed scale from 1 to 0. Half-baked is 0.5, so somewhat half-baked is less than half-baked is >0.5. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Energy-based superweapons aren't really all that scary. Nuclear weapons are just about the maximum of scary already. My worries are that clean and remote fighting will destigmatize the horrors of war because those horrors won't be inflicted on the side using the best and brightest technology, but this is more a concern for unmanned vehicles and such than new weapons. On the other hand, non-lethal weapons are good. Sure, they might make governments hesitate less before using force against people who really don't deserve it, but we've already seen how the necessity of lethal force doesn't always stop anybody. Just look at Tiananmen. Pain and nausea for crowd control are preferable. —Alorael, who isn't aware of any new tools to stop hijacked airplanes. People are easy to deter, but massive objects have too much inertia to easily stop physically. Even if you do stop an airplane, it just plummets. Instead, the easiest solution would be to destroy airplanes before impact, and that's quite possible already. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

There's no real hint to lead you to the trials and no real discussion of them, anywhere or ever. They're somewhat half-baked. Actually, as you'll see when you reach the end, they're completely half-baked. —Alorael, who considers the trial near Motrax's lair to be the hardest. Is there any particular breakthrough that makes directed energy weapons imminent instead of the same ongoing research project that they've been for years? —Alorael, who is always fascinated by the progress of weaponry. After demolishing enormous areas of the Earth's surface and rendering them uninhabitable for extremely long periods became easy, suddenly lower yield weapons were needed. I don't think it's possible to leave without the orb, but I can't remember why I think that. I do know that I've never gotten everything set up for departure before grabbing the Orb of Thralni. —Alorael, only just realized what the absence of the Orb of Thralni in A4 means: there are now no artifacts present in every E/A game. Demonslayer comes closest, but it's only in A3, not E3, and only for a cameo. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

If you give a donation to Sick Boy in Shayder he'll tell you to talk to Judith. She can be found in Shayder or Bavner or maybe sometimes in one other town. Meena in Shayder will teach you pathfinder, but you have to bring Graymold Salve to the hospital first. Slow has the same effect on enemies that it has on you. Against fast enemies it is very effective. Against slower enemies it's not all that helpful. It makes them move towards you slower, but they are still capable of attacking or casting spells just as often (once). —Alorael, who didn't fall in love with slow until A4 and the abuse of AI therein. I'm glad to know too, although I can't think of any practical use for this knowledge except my ongoing goal of trying to fill the entire map of the first level with bridges and then cover every open space with knights. I usually get bored before I succeed. —Alorael, who is unaware of any censorship of cheating. Certain illicit editing, yes. The cheats for Geneforge and A4 has been posted, though, and the editors are all free topics of conversation. Trainers and editors have been created for threads without them. Cheating is definitely not verboten on Spiderweb. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |
