What browser are you using? Null pointer exceptions sometimes happen when there's not enough memory (It would still be Yahoo's fault for using buggy code). Can you check the Java crash logs? I dunno exactly how to get to them — it depends on your operating system (and maybe which browser you're using). -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... I assumed the bad grammar was intentional, since it serves to contrast with the following post and assure that everyone knows that this is not a case of FYT. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Posts: 508 | Registered: Thursday, May 29 2003 07:00 |

I think that creatures will receive a message in the same turn that it is sent iff their number is higher than that of the sender; otherwise, they'll get it the next turn. Maybe you might look into that? -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Posts: 508 | Registered: Thursday, May 29 2003 07:00 |

I'm still pissed at my high school chem teacher. That hydrolysis setup was a lie! A damned lie! Pshh, she had us believe water was enough. Not until later did she admit there had to be sulfuric acid in there to make it work... -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Posts: 508 | Registered: Thursday, May 29 2003 07:00 |

You mean, as opposed to a B.A. with some major other than English? The B.A. is what counts; In many cases the major will be unimportant. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Posts: 508 | Registered: Thursday, May 29 2003 07:00 |

 Seems like a reasonable answer to me... Of course, if one is imagining a MMOG, that would never work. But with a small number of people, it makes sense. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Posts: 508 | Registered: Thursday, May 29 2003 07:00 |

Your being a self-proclaimed troll in these types of topics makes it much easier not to be provoked by your claims  . Your list of rebuttals for various motivations for parental love seem to hold. I'm convinced by them. I'm not convinced by your claim of societal pressure leading to parental love. You said yourself love does not extend to other people's children. So what if everyone tells you your child is a dick? I'm sure many people love their children despite societal pressures. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Posts: 508 | Registered: Thursday, May 29 2003 07:00 |

Oh, the good old days of Moria, and then later Angband and its variants. Now that was true suspense. Tried the more recent ToME. Seemed all right, if a little bloated. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Posts: 508 | Registered: Thursday, May 29 2003 07:00 |

Thuryl's method has the advantage of being able to customize the response for the particular square at which the party digs. That flexibility isn't currently called for, but if Pyrulen decides to change it later, it would have to be changed to Thuryl's implementation anyway. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... quote:First of all, if the divorce rate were to go up to 75% from 50%, the extra 25% would account for 1/3, not 1/4 of the total 75%. Second, I think the solution based on your logic is clear: legalize same-sex marriage and illegalize heterosexual marriage. The divorce rate goes down to 25%, cutting it in half. Voila! Edit: Alorael beat me to the mathematical mistakes. [ Tuesday, July 11, 2006 14:23: Message edited by: wz. As ] -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... quote:What about allowing interracial marriages in the US? It seems to me, at first glance, that there is a similarity between that and allowing same-sex marriages; looking at the circumstances surrounding interracial marriages might provide some context to the issue of same-sex marriage. I don't know much about the legalization of interracial marriages in the US, though, so I will point out that the context exists and leave it to Meeshka to analyze, rather than actually provide the comparison. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Although I can see you've already done it, it's really not necessary to delete your previous posts. For one thing, it makes quotations look really weird. Also, the next person to come along and decide to design an epic might want to see what you'd written as a reference. Oh well. Too late, I guess. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... My ratings: everyone starts at 5. Take off 1 point for each line your signature has above one. (If your signature is 6 or more lines, just make it a rating of 1) Quantity is the key factor here, folks. My signature is related to my member number. The periods are dividing markers (that's dividing as in splitting up, not as in quotients) and the final ones are an ellipsis. -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... As far as I know, my real name is still unknown here, though it would not be too hard for some to find it. Sarachim, for example, is two degrees away from me on facebook, and may or may not already know who I am, seeing as he already knows we went to the same high school. On other message boards, however, my PDN is slightly connected to my real name; not to the extent that an employer would find out about my activities, thankfully, considering the impact my activities on said boards might have on employability. (to potential employers: that is in jest and in no way true.) A google search for my name turns up only positive things — accomplishments related to math and physics. Yay! :D -------------------- 5.0.1.0.0.0.0.1.0... Posts: 508 | Registered: Thursday, May 29 2003 07:00 |
