Do you think that it would be possible for Jeff Vogel to make an online engine of the game, so that all players could get together. You know, it would be like runescape, but runescape isnt even good, this game would beat every online RPG!
So would this be possible for any of the 'Blades' games engine?

This has been asked many times, and the simple answer is "no."

Jeff has neither the resources, nor the motivation to make such a thing. Besides, the Avernum engine is turn based. An online game can't be turn based!

All of the online games I've played that aren't FPS have been turn-based.

Explain to me please how a turn-based game can be made to an online game?

...

People make their moves one at a time. The turn ends. A new turn begins. People make their moves one at a time.

*sigh*

You know what I meant (I presume...), now give the right answer, please.

 Seems like a reasonable answer to me... Of course, if one is imagining a MMOG, that would never work. But with a small number of people, it makes sense.

It would be a reasonable answer if the question were: "How does a turn-based game work?" But what i am asking is how the turn-based engine of (for example) Avernum, could work in a mmorpg such as Runescape. To make scuh things work, you would have to be with a small group, as you said, that can handle working together as a team in a very good manner, otherwise its doomed.

I think I answered my own question now...

Twenty people marching through different corners of the howling emptiness that is Valorim? Or if the virtual world is expanded, the other continents of Ermarian? Having to wait for a player on the other end of the continent to make their move is bad no matter how many people you have to wait for.

So when it comes to multi-player games, I'd take real-time over turns.

Just out of curiosity, why did the person who started the topic get banned?

Sorry, Saunders, but I wanted to respond to someone's earlier question.

The original Neverwinter Nights did it by having turn-based combat only. Wandering about the world was not so restricted.

(I also think there was a limit to how long your turns could be, but it was rather long.)
