It is that time of the month again in General

Actually, it isn't yet; not for another 2 days. But my schedule is very tight right now, so I need to do it a little earlier.

If you're new to this, here's how it works: Each month (around the 17th), I use a script to list all postcounts here. Then, I find the differences to last month, calculate some averages, and make a Top Ten list. :)

A warm welcome to the 147 new members who have registered (5 per day), especially to the 91 of you who posted. Together with the 232 older members who posted, this brings our active community core to 325, from last months 262! 325 is still not quite the number we had two months ago, but the boards seem to have recovered from the small hiatus in April.

On with the other numbers. A total of 7267 posts have been made since the last count (251 per day), as opposed to last month's 4723. With a daily mean of 251 posts, this is the highest yet!

Also, the average per member is now 22.4, which is higher than the last two months. So not only have more people registered and more people posted, each member has been more active as well.

Altogether, this means .77 per member per day.

Finally, here go the highscores!

1. 5437 Dolphin (+371)2. 869 Thuryl (+338)3. 4614 Ben (+337)4. 3431 Student of Trinity (+284)5. 4045 Kelandon (+275)6. 5450 Spring (+272)7. 4 Terror's Martyr (+198)8. 4506 Archmage Micael (+190)9. 2984 Arancaytar (+179)10. 4233 Andrew Miller (+175)As usual, the complete list of active members can be found here.
Dolphin, who said she'd "made a conscious effort to cut back on the BS" ( :P ) has rocketed to number one, displacing Thuryl. Ben, former number 9, is now at third place, while Spring has dropped to 6th. I've dropped to 9th (a result of the increasing stress over here, as well as upcoming exams), and will be gone from the list entirely by next month (not the active member list though; after all, I posted this, which gives me at least one post in next month's count!). Alorael is off the stage at place 14. However, since Drakefyre posts even less, it will be some time yet before he loses his top poster position.
Special mention is given to Mystery Man, who has accomplished the impossible by losing 943 posts (not counting the ones between the last count and the board crash). For obvious reasons, this has been rectified in the total statistic.

I think I found another set of maps at http://www.wam.umd.edu/~kks/index.html .

But it's really a pity that site went down.

Edit: The maps only show the Fort Draco/Motrax area, Fort Avernum/Cotra and the Honeycomb/Mertis/Tower of Magi. Fortunately, all I needed was the Tower of Magi.

Hasn't that been done before?

I'd like to see GRR. Martin's "Ice and Fire" series as a movie.

Oh, and by the way, have you heard of that ridiculous adaptation of "Howl's Moving Castle"? After the trailer, I'm not going to see that. They don't even mention D.W. Jones as the book's author save for a tiny acknowledgement at the end of the credits.

That sounds so cool. I wish I would've been here for that.

We did a similar thing with Imban just under a year ago. Everyone suddenly changed their names to something with Imban. I think mine was "Imbancaytar".

Also, wasn't there another incident like this with the name "Mao"? I wasn't here then, but I've heard allusions to that...

I've changed my name to Arancaytar several times, and never had that happen to me. Same goes for others like Eferas Cirthain.

But my login name is also Arancaytar; perhaps that is the reason?

I just tried to view Silver's Annotated Maps of Avernum, and noticed that the server returns a 404. Does anyone else get this, and if yes, for how long has it been down? Are there any other versions of these maps online?

Learning something new every day... until now, I'd have pronounced the u in "wuss" like in "crush". ;)

But it's still far more symmetrical than it should be. This is partly due to that weird hair, and partly because of the "frontal mugshot" perspective.

Also, the face is disturbingly broad, which also makes it look pieced together. If I didn't know better, I'd say this were a police phantom picture assembled from a description, not a real photo.

Edit:

I hereby move that this picture be included in the unofficial list of pictures used to close threads, alongside Mango and William Thomas Fletcher. It certainly has the potential, no?

Also, I seem to be getting close to another round number myself soon. I don't think 3000 triggers a new title, but that doesn't matter because I wouldn't get it anyhow. Gee thanks, Drakey...
