I have just completed making a new forum about Spiderweb's games using Sudden Launch.com. I made it for 1 reason: So there will be 4 forums about Spiderweb! Sounds good, I'll go sign up. "Other Spiderweb Games SubTerra, Lost Souls, Galactic Core, Ocean Bound and Homeland: Stone of Night. " I see no mention of Nethergate. Is this intentional? [ Friday, June 10, 2005 22:19: Message edited by: Kingy ] Posts: 776 | Registered: Friday, July 4 2003 07:00 |

4? At least a dozen other people have had the same idea. The SW satellite forums still around today are just the ones that survived. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Sometimes you see someone with a dirty mark on their face. It looks horrible, and they have no idea it's there. You feel torn. You don't want to point it out and embarass them, but on the other hand, how bad will they feel when they eventually realize that they've been walking around with this big blotch on their face and no one told them? I prefer the former option. No one cares, and you're annoying. From one friend to another, you understand. Wow Ash, that was pretty brutal. Why don't we keep it civil - it's not like he's TM or anything. ;) JadeWolf, I would point out that it's likely you'll receive little to no traffic on your sight. Essentially you're asking only people from this forum - the Spiderweb community - to participate on your forum. Given that we're all already here, there's no incentive to use yours. In addition, though I don't personally feel one way or the other about you, you haven't cultivated the greatest reputation while you've been here, which further reduces anyone's incentive to participate on your boards. I appreciate your energy though. Perhaps it would be better spent designing a scenario? Just a thought. :) Posts: 2242 | Registered: Saturday, April 10 2004 07:00 |

I was going to sign up, but it rejected my username-and it was the same username I have now. I ought to actually think up a good username. School's out, so I should have plenty of time. I'll probably need time, as I'm not very good at thinking up names. The username I have now was never really meant to be permanent, as I have been planning on replacing it since I created this account and just used Evil_TiM because I couldn't think of anything better at the time. I just tried signing up, okay? So I typed in username, E-mail, password... oops, I get an error saying "Invalid username and password combination." So, it still created my account, you can see it on the main page, but I still can't get in. *sigh* I need some help from the Drakey of JadeWolf's forum, who has magically accumulated...500 posts? The 500 posts were an error. Kingy there should be a nethergate bit with the Avernum games board. I will try and fix that as soon as possible, the 500 posts too. For the moment, I should havve been in bed 3 hors ago. ;) -------------------- How many shapers are there? Why is Drypeak controlled by Zakary? Why is Barzahl a Guardian? How does the Geneforge work? t MM Every now and then I find a link to your board. I click the link. I laugh at the fact that there are only three or four people there, and that they all seem to post there regularly, even though you all seem to know each other in real life. Depends on how much advertising and unreliability you're willing to tolerate. You can get an EZBoard for free, and it's almost worth the price. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

For a forum to be successful you have to have 2 things: 1. A core group of people to talk at that forum. 2. A reason why these people can not carry on their discussions on another, existing forum. For example, Desperance forums started out with a group of Spidweb members who thought rules on Spidweb forums were too strict; Lyceum started out as a forum for BOE fans and remains the central point of BOE community; some other forums that I've seen started when a group of people left a forum where they met due to a conflict with other members. If your forums don't have a unique element like this, they are bound to fail. If they do have this unique element, they will succede even on ezBoard. -------------------- Be careful with a word, as you would with a sword, For it too has the power to kill. Objection: Having to use Ezboard can kill even the most necessary of forums. Believe me. —Alorael, who used to be actually unable to access Ezboards because the popups would crash his browser and his computer. While t his is no longer the case, whether or not that is a good thing is still in doubt. Posts: 14579 | Registered: Saturday, December 1 2001 08:00 |

Ezboard just managed to crash all their servers again. They claim they were "attacked", but they've claimed that far too often now. Pretty much all the free boards got deleted permanently, and a big portion of the paid ones as well. So yup, I recommend Invision. -------------------- The Encyclopaedia Ermariana <-- Now a Wiki! So far JadeWolf's forum is doing okay, despite the fact that it only has about seven members that frequently participate. If you haven't at least looked at it, you should.
