SMoE has acknowledged that his actions were perhaps—just perhaps—ill-advised. That's pretty close to a full admission of guilt.

—Alorael, who believes Formerly is commenting on a Mafia-esque air in the sense of intrigue, backstabbing, and bodies found floating in the virtual harbor. While the absence of smoky back room conspiracies and evil plots is occasionally regrettable, it really is more fun in retrospect than in action.

I'm aware of that. He seemed to have made good on his promise to reform, as well. Until he left, he was quite the model member.

I don't prefer snooty or vulgar. So I stay with Spiderweb. And JW, which is kind of like SW, only more spam allowed, which really fits my type, if I do say so myself.

Not that I spam in an unnecessary way. Just in a ben way.

If all of your posts were pruned, this forum would be 500% less lame. Heck, you alone are a good reason to have an "ignore user's posts" feature on UBB.

As an aside, you neither prefer snooty nor vulgar- you seem to have an uncanny penchant for both, rivaling only your aptitude for ignorance.

I hope everyone is realizing I did not condone anything SMoE did then (the second of the threads should have shown that), I am giving it as an example to show how much pressure a conservative had felt (as opposed to been in) here.
Although TM's above post about Ben is just as good an example. On most days, I might feel the exact same thing (-10, -9.8, remember?), it's just that I try to be polite/tolerant/whatever.

I don't think SMoE felt pressure. He just made a bizarre decision.

—Alorael, who wouldn't even put SMoE on the heavily conservative side, though for Spiderweb he's far right field. Didn't he come out only modestly in the first quadrant on the political compass test?

I have a problem with your forum.

PMed you.

As I said in the PM, it looks very similar to Overwhelming's forum, just miles smaller.

P.S. I'd better watch out. With a new person like Marlenny on the MOD team, I could be in trouble!

I think he's a fan of Ayn Rand. I'm content to dismiss such people as fruitcakes, but I'm in suburban England, where she's virtually unread outside the young Turks of the Tory party, and my understanding is that it's a little more mainstream in America. He's not exactly dribbling blood all over the place and bellowing "imperialism!" at the top of his voice, but you can tell he's considerably to the right of centre.

Oh, bloody humor me. That kid has showed as much cussedness and earnest racism to get him physically accosted in any burgh where the minority popultion is above 1% and the women realize that boobs and souls are mutually exclusive.

But hey- tell you what. You go through an avowedly conservative and religious education system for four years where your beliefs are mocked by a student body composed almost entirely by ignorami on the basis of imperialism and masked postmodernism (and you get mocked for being its realization, no less!). Then try being polite with political issues when someone spews the same uneducated tripe at you when there aren't a hundred more, eager to be summoned to beat you down with numbers.

You don't friggin' realize that America ain't the euro-socialist country you live in. Ben isn't ready to listen to what we say, no matter what the hell it is conveyed with (Derrida). We're the ones who are supposed to come into the inner circles of the bloody Illuminati of the religious right for our understanding (Lacan).

So if I was being too frank about his ideological loathsomeness, I apologize.

...

And now, for something completely different (Foucault).
