Right. Well, if the boat isn't needed I've made a mistake somewhere, as just walking out is what the problem is. That's what I wanted to know, thanks.

TM has suggested that the Slime Pit is too long. Thoughts?
I would agree. I restarted the game, because I got stuck and have a question as to the why, but I completed the slime cave both times and stopped playing both times, feeling somewhat bored after a while.

After the mayhem of the B... Pit that to me is a highlight and so very enjoyable, this one seems unrelated to the mayor plot line of continuing your journey - more like a sidequest, at least at that point in time. Maybe that's why my patience wore thin. I prefered the next city. Though I was sent to M... to satisfy Legare's whims, I was at least exploring the place.

It's also where I got stuck. You released a new version and I restarted my game and am approaching M... again. What happened is that I couldn't figure out a way to leave the town alive and whole. Now I suspect that I should have been able to use the boat and that would indeed have solved my problem, but I can't board the boat, because the bridge is not linked to the shore. Is this meant to be so? Or is my computer creating problems for me?

Depends. If you see life as a fight, you might get weary at some point, but if you see it as an adventure, the challenge of the unknown keeps you rather occupied, and you've no time for weariness because of all the things you still need to find out.

Strange that you had so many difficulties with Win2k, Alec. I still prefer it, and never had a crash or any error message, since I installed it.

The sounds are within the .exe, the folder's name is "100", and they range from 1 to 174. They are .wav files.

You can either replace an already existing sound or add a sound, though I've forgotten, if adding a sound gets you into trouble.

edit: you could ask Jeff, if he'd tolerate a couple of replaced sounds for a specific scenario. Don't see why he shouldn't.

What happened? Something went down? Why wasn't I informed??

Several attempts at hacking the board, because of software issues in older Invision versions that are being exploited globally right now. A considerable number of forums went down. So those of you with older Invision stuff, be on the alert. It's nothing personal, just a game.

When it had reached the point where only a twentyfour hours watch of the admin panel would have kept the board up and running, Logalot took it offline and went for an upgrade.

Ah yes, but that doesn't have anything to do with worms. That name goes back to celtic "Bormotomagus=Land of the many waters"; when "B" changed to "W" and germanic tribes settled in the region, the name was partly translated to "Wormazfeld" = "Wormatia" in its latinised version and finally got abbriged to "Worms".

Out of interest, does "last" in this context mean "last ever" or "most recent"? Is there any possibility for another prophet in the future, as there seems to be in Judaism and Christianity?

The twelfth Imam may not be a prophet by definition, but as he is said to return to save the world when it has descended into chaos, he certainly can be seen as a messianic figure.

Please remove that from your post. It is an insult to Judaism to have a name that God uses to describe Himself (and I think only Him, maybe a few prophets and/or angels also use it), casually flung about as if it were just any other name.
I've thought a bit.

The movement I refered to has drawn millions of members, and - as far as I know - is being actively supported by the catholic church.

I'm not a catholic myself. But I don't believe that what is being described as a charismatic evangelical movement has chosen its name in disrespect to God. And I am not aware of any intention to hurt or disrespect other religions.

That's why I choose to let my post stand as it is, though - as an individual - I am perfectly willing to respect your sensibilities.

I don't think so. Not with Win98. Why, those games even run on XP. Write a mail to Jeff Vogel, he may know what to do.

Dr., saunders mentioned the walled off parts.

One of my patients, a woman, was a guerilla fighter in South America twenty years ago. It's only now that her husband can approach her from behind and touch her shoulder without her trying to kill him immediately, before she has even had the time to grasp that it is him, that it is the now, the present, no war, that war is past. Extreme, life threatening experiences seem to imprint automatic responses very deeply into us. It is, as if a piece of yourself becomes frozen in time, and when triggered, takes over completely, substituting the 'now' with the 'then'.

Good to hear. :)

Microsoft doesn't have the patch, but here's a link to a tech support forum with patches for XPHome, XPProfessional and Win2000.

This is the topic where SkeleTony talked about the help file he had that fixes your problem:
16 But MS-DOS error

And this is a link to the help file:
XPHomeFiles.exe

edit: And, Mr. Vogel, as I said in that old topic, quite a few people encounter this problem. It would be great, if you offered a link to the patch on your company's site. SkeleTony isn't often around, so I seem to be the only one now who still has the link.
