quote:Yes, it used to be while its producer 'Jasc' still owned it. But since 'Corel' has taken over 'Jasc', the freeware has vanished from the web. All you can donwnload now is Corel's trial version of Paintshop Pro X. 'The Gimp' is always a good alternative and is open source. The Gimp I also like Irfan View. Wouldn't want any other picture viewer. edit: ADoS, can you give me a link to that Photoshop 6 version you use? 'Jasc' used to be one of my favourites, I'd like to know where to download some of their former software. As to which software people use - though I know that Adobe is univerally adored, I still prefer to work with Corel and Macromedia. 'Serif' is offering some of its software as freeware. 'Serif PhotoPlus 6' is a very good photo and image editing program. You have to register, but it's free. They have some other interesting programs that you might like to check out. As far as I know, the Stuffit Expander itself is freeware. It is nowadays part of a shareware program that you can use to compress files. If they didn't change the procedure, you can choose a 'Custom-Installation' and have only the Expander installed. After the 30-day trial the compression tool stops working, but the Expander should be unaffected and still functioning. I'm not quite sure if I remember this right, but wasn't the Xian topic lost due to one of those board bugs? Drakey might know. edit: It didn't affect the whole board, just one or two of the sections. Many threads were lost, and I believe the Xian Skull was among them. quote:Try to remember what you did before this happened. Did you install or uninstall a program or application? Ahbleza already asked, if you got a virus warning or deleted spyware. Check everything else. Is anything else causing problems too? XP has a repair function. Files can get corrupt, can be overwritten or can get lost. First check for viruses, but if there aren't any, it might be a good idea to let Windows repair itself. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Hi, Dolney. Nobody would ever suspect that you've had a problem with posting, though I remember the time when you called yourself that: a guy with not so good grammar. And not without reason. Yours is quite a transformation. -------------------- Polaris Rache's A3 Site reformatted 2/3 done Rache's A3 Site, original version Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Not names of slavic origin. A lot of Austrians and Germans lived in Bohemia at the time, so that is not so wonderful. But Thralni, I miss some of my favourites on your list. What about Prokoview, Strawinsky, Smetana, Mussorgsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Borodin, Glinka, Pärt, Skrjabin, to name a few. edit: Uh, I somehow didn't see your post, Belisarius, so I seem to repeat your complaint. I read something on the internet that I didn't believe, so I went to check the FEMA website, and now I find it's true. If you want to apply for desaster assistance you have to register either by phone or online. By phone is close to hopeless, too many callers, online registration requires IE 6.0 or higher. Now you can use Opera that will pass for any browser you ask it to pass for. And some people are posting workaround codes on Katrina blogs for Macintosh and Linux users with different browsers. Nevertheless it does strengthen the impression that this agency has lost touch with reality somewhere, somewhen. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

Article Read this article. So this clown, this unimaginable clown had all the rescue teams there, able and willing to start their work right away, but he needed a 1000 more employees for matters of coordination and PR. These employees could not arrive before late Wednesday, because they first had to undergo a special training to enable them to work in desaster zones. What is that guy supposed to lead? A zoo? And that is why everbody else who offered help was stopped from going in to save and rescue. Mr.Brown, though with deep regrets, had to wait for the arrival of his clerks. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

I don't know, Jeros. If a cat 5 threatens three states of my country, if one of those states declares a major emergency in advance, because the levees of one its cities can only withstand a cat 3, as everyone's known for decades, and if I'm leader of said country, you can bet that I won't be vacationing. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |

It has hit New Orleans. Due to three breaches in the levee system 80% of the city are reported to be literally under water. Most of the shelters had to be evacuated. This could well be the worst catastrophe your nation has ever had to go through. -------------------- Polaris Posts: 1828 | Registered: Saturday, January 11 2003 08:00 |
