An all-or-nothing effect that's more likely to be "nothing" than "all" is still an all-or-nothing effect. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

What you call the Shapers' "more humane" treatment seems to mostly involve deliberately making serviles nearly mindless or fanatically loyal so that they don't mind so much when they're mistreated. Oh, and occasionally giving a carrot to a servile double agent who proves useful. Big whoop. quote:Not really. Money represents the time and effort that somebody has put into working instead of doing something they'd rather do. There are about 700,000 hours in an 80-year lifespan. If we say that an average person earns about $10 an hour, that means that for every $7 million spent, one more lifetime of man-hours is wasted -- and every billion dollars is equivalent to 143 lives. I wonder if Jeff could make this more explicit by making the portion of your essence bar that's semi-permanently tied up in creations a different colour than the portion of the essence bar that's simply been expended by casting spells. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! quote:I think it's just that, as you say, you're not running anything really demanding on it. I used a Performa 450 for a decade and it worked just fine for what I needed it for. Macs have always been able to run versions of the Mac OS that came out later than the computers themselves. Even the humble Mac Plus can run System 7.5.5. quote:Well, see, the thing is that if you're an academic and you're caught plagiarising, your career is kaput, so to speak. If you're passing off others' ideas as your own, that destroys any trust the faculty had in you to produce original work and give proper credit to research sources. And suppose your plagiarised work was used in a bestselling book, or in research that won a cash prize. Lawsuit city. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Firebolt base damage? in Geneforge 4: Rebellion | |

quote:The in-game instructions give you the damage formula of all spells: in the case of Firebolt, it's 1d4 base damage plus 1d3 per point of Battle Magic and Spellcraft. So it's the same die size as a thorn baton. On the other hand, as a Lifecrafter it's easier to put points into battle magic and spellcraft than missile weapons. quote:Correct. The die size of a weapon tends to be more important than the base number of dice, especially at higher levels. By the way, there's basically no reason to ever use an ordinary thorn baton; you find enough javelins just lying around that you can use those until they become obsolete. EDIT: Wait, are you sure you meant to post this in the Geneforge 4 forum and not the Geneforge forum? I'm pretty sure the answers to your questions are the same either way, though. Well, nobody's invaded the USA yet, so apparently world leaders are actually just fine with a country that's known for religious fanaticism and using nuclear weapons on civilians, as long as it's run by white people. It's explicitly stated at the end that the Shapers regard the rebellion as a result of not being strict enough with their creations.
