Khyryk quest in Geneforge 4: Rebellion

*blink*

You've got quests from Chapter 4 on your quest list. Just how long did you wait before attempting to report Khyryk's rescue to Miranda? You have to report to her in Shaper Camp Gamma; she'll be in Poryphra Ruins by now, so you can't do that any more.

The reward is only a supply token and some XP anyway, though.

Well, you can always try emailing them (spidweb@spiderwebsoftware.com) and seeing what Jeff has to say; just don't be too disappointed if he says "no".

He did allow a third-party Linux port of one of his games once, though, so I suppose it's not completely out of the question.

Prospects of a translation aren't great. Spiderweb Software is a small outfit and I don't think they can really afford to hire a translator.

Actually, that only lets you past one specific web barrier. It doesn't help you against normal webbing, I don't think.

Also, I think you posted in the wrong topic.

Leave her. She's only going to have more health problems further down the track. Sooner or later one of you is going to die and then you'll be apart forever anyway.

You have to finish that quest before you lead the caravan through the Cairn Gates (they did tell you the citadel was being evacuated, after all). You missed out on a little experience and some pods and spores. Nothing major.

There are, however, a total of 6 points of Fire Shaping you can get from items: Shapemaster Boots (+2), Flameweaver Greaves (+2), Shaper Robe (+1) and Volcanic Fetish (+1).

Also, there are other boots that give Stealth later on. I think the Swamp Boots and Quicksilver Sandals both do.

It's only Blademaster when he's posting in a forum in which he's a moderator. This is true for all moderators, not just A-dawg.

There's still the small issue of who wins the war, although given Alcritas's creative influences, the answer is almost certainly "everyone dies".

You need to upload your images to a website somewhere (www.tinypic.com is good for this), then use the image tag (click the "IMAGE" button below the post entry window) to include them in your post.

The problem is not that monsters can't be made into joinable NPCs. The problem is that custom creature scripts seem to not work properly when applied to joinable NPCs, so their only AI is shounen-ai. :(

Apologising doesn't bring back newbies who get scared away by false accusations. A little more caution might be in order in future.

EDIT: Sorry about my first response too. I can see how I might have come across as harsh. I used an intentionally silly term of invective at the end to try and soften the blow, but clearly it didn't work.

Is it just me or do Shock Tralls do the same thing? I know that my servile was getting the hell stunned out of him against Khyryk once he started making Shock Tralls.

I just killed it with archers instead; they seem more accurate than fighters. Luck has a pretty small effect on hit rate.

I suspect my main problem with the fighter is that I didn't bother going for Blademaster, though. Exodus has equally high-level monsters, but my fighter (who did have several ranks in Blademaster this time) had no trouble hitting them, despite being Completely Inept.

A lifecrafter is a good choice, since it lets you make the most of one of the major distinctive features of the Geneforge series: creations. If you'd rather have a stronger character but with less ability to make creations, be a servile instead.

On a related note, wearing vampiric touch gear while attacking or casting a spell on an undead creature seems to damage you instead of healing you. Fortunately, there are so few undead in the game that this isn't *usually* a problem.

The Parasitic Shade is pretty tough for this stage of the game; you might want to build up some levels and come back once you have Vlish or something. By chapter 2, Fyoras don't really cut it any more.

(Also, before you fight the shade you should run around in combat mode and turn off *all* the power spirals in the room. Try to avoid letting it see you while you do this.)

You're not supposed to kill her yet. She's an important character and will show up again later.

(Also, if Shaper Camp Gamma is hostile, you've probably locked yourself into the Rebel path for the rest of the game. I hope you don't mind.)
