quote:This has not been my experience. From what I've seen by looking through the scripts, the lowest check is at 5 canisters and the highest is 12. (The check at 5 is just somebody telling you that he knows you've used canisters, though; it doesn't affect your interactions with him.) I'm pretty sure it takes at least 12 to affect the ending as well. Regarding Burkes: you can betray him until you've finished leading the caravan to the Cairn Gates, since after that General Crowley leaves and you can't report to him any more. Regarding charms: the rotghroth fangs are usually the limiting ingredient for me. Save up glaahk eyes too. General Crowley shows up if you sneak far enough into the Shaper Camp and then try to leave. You literally can't miss him, since he talks to you automatically. If you've already finished Chapter 1, he won't appear. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

I think it's Alice who helps you with the scrolls, but only if the shade isn't there at the time. I suppose it's possible that the game doesn't expect you to kill the shade before talking to her about the scrolls, in which case you may indeed have made the quest unfinishable. The rewards are just a level of a couple of spells, though, so if you have all the spells already it's not that helpful. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! By "can'", Nalyd of course means "can't". Talking to people doesn't help much in this game; doing quests for them is worth a lot more. Helping Shaila (you have to escort her to the docks, not the bridge -- enter Forsaken Docks from the left and talk to her) will improve your reputation with the Shapers, while killing her will improve your reputation with the Rebels. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! If you try to get your creations killed in combat, do they die normally or do they also stay at 1 HP? If they just don't die, it sounds as if they've been rendered invulnerable, probably due to a scripting error. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I didn't mind the Honeycomb either, but I, probably like you, grew up on old-skool dungeon crawlers, of the kind that nobody who didn't grow up on them can tolerate. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Actually, I've had a bug with healing before. Sometimes when I cast healing or status spells outside of combat mode, they don't take effect. It seems to happen more often if I cast a lot of healing or status effect spells in quick succession, if I cast while walking, or if I heal while taking lingering damage from poison or acid. There's a Thahd in the mudpits; are you sure that's not what you're seeing? They're both big and red. For future reference, Tech Support would probably be the appropriate forum for this. Anyway, what you should do depends on whether your computer came with OS 9 or not. If so, you can just boot from the original install CD and reinstall OS 9. If not, you'll have to get a copy from somewhere (presumably the same place as you got it in the first place). -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Even trying to move into an empty space can be difficult. Sometimes it's literally impossible to move to a location even though you have a clear path to it, because there are bits of other creations covering every clickable part of the space. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure!
