Having a sexual relationship exclusively with one person for a lifetime isn't natural anyway.

Unless it isn't, in which case you have something of a problem, don't you?

"From whence" is grammatically redundant; "whence" means "from where".

And the "eaters of raw meat" thing is probably apocryphal, but you still shouldn't call them eskimos.

Happy to help. *dodges rotten fruit*

Thuryl, please don't generalize the "sex after marriage crowd." I beleive sex before marriage greatly diminishes the whole emotional aspect of the act, but that's just how I view it. I don't care what other people do in their bedrooms (or offices, or vans, or broom closets, or whatever), and it's none of my business anyway.
No need to get defensive. I often find myself in agreement with you when I'm in one of my more prudish moods. I was speaking more of those who want to ban various forms of extramarital sex, or failing that make social outcasts of those who use it. I have no reason to change the opinions of people who aren't planning to use their opinions for anything anyway.

So far as I know, though, neither of us have ever married, so I'm not sure we're qualified to give an opinion. All I can really add is that most of the married people I know (of both sexes) pretty soon started to view sex as an obligation rather than a pleasure.

Anyway, even if sex after marriage is better, is less sex in exchange for possible better sex really a good tradeoff? How far do you want to go with that? If you knew you could only have sex once in your entire life, that one time would certainly be an emotional experience, but that doesn't mean you wouldn't rather have sex more than once.

Age: 17
Gender: Male
Sexual orientation: Basically heterosexual
Marital status: What the hell kind of question is this?
Highest educational degree completed: High school (currently studying biomedical science at university)
City/metropolitan area where you live: Melbourne
Racial/ethnic origin: Anglo-Saxon/Russian
Nationality: Australian
First/primary language: Esperanto. No, not really. English.
Religion: ex-Catholic atheist (if you don't see how that makes me different from any other atheist, you haven't met enough ex-Catholics)
How long you've been a Spiderwebber: Depends where you count from. I've been on these boards a few years now, but on other boards pretty much ever since BoE was released.
Whether or not you're a septuagenarian eskimo: Not last time I checked. And "eskimo" is an offensive term.

Frankly, I suspect the no-sex-before-marriage crowd is motivated by a mixture of moral panic and disgust at difference. If they were sincere about believing sex to be only for procreation, they'd sermonise against sex between a man and his pregnant wife as well. I don't think I've heard anybody speak out against that particular form of sexual activity, even though it obviously can't lead to pregnancy.

Well, let me put it this way. Suppose you think a friend has a serious problem with alcohol. Your friend denies it, claiming to be just a social drinker. Would you just let your friend kill himself with alcohol on the basis that you had no right to interfere, or would you try to help by whatever means you could, even if he didn't appreciate your help at the time?

How is the situation different when you think they have a serious sinning problem instead? As far as I can see, any Christian who believes non-Christians go to hell and doesn't try to convert them is a hypocrite.

"Nectar" isn't a substance on its own. If something's called a fruit nectar, it just means that it's somewhere between the liquid consistency of a juice and the semi-solid consistency of a puree.

Unless my OED is leading me astray, "humorous" is spelled like this even in the UK.

(Ah, spelling nitpicks: the last refuge of the desperate.)

Be careful; not all orange juice with pulp in it is really fresh-squeezed. Some bottlers add fake pulp made from wood fibres to juice reconstituted from concentrate.

He used to have an email address with karlgottfried in it -- and a xanga in that name, for that matter.

EDIT: Still HAS a recently-updated xanga. And so does Alec. (Well, I mean, Alec doesn't have one in the name of Karl Gottfried, obviously.)

I'm not entirely sure people are good at understanding other members of the same sex either. We just don't spend as much time trying and failing.

Well, I'll be jiggered. We've finally corrupted Sir David.

I'd shake hands with whoever's responsible, but, well, I don't know where those hands have been.

It's not bandwidth that's the issue, since the avatars weren't stored onsite. It's loading time for people using the forums. Some avatars were hosted on slow servers and took forever to load, and sometimes failed to load at all, which on some browsers prevented the rest of the page they were on from loading.
