Accents on a Mac are dead easy. Type option-* followed by the letter you want to put an accent over, where * is one of the following:

option-` = grave accent (àèìòù)
option-e = acute accent (áéíóú)
option-u = umlaut/diaeresis (äëïöü)
option-i = circumflex (âêîôû)
option-n = tilde (ãñõ)

In this case, you want the acute accent over an E, so type option-E followed by E, to get é, as in "cliché". (Yes, this is the correct accent, not the way Spring did it. Who are you going to believe?)

You really shouldn't mislead the newbie, you know.

Alorael's exactly 54 years old, and he has been for the past two years.

In all seriousness, though, there are at least a couple of people frequenting these forums who we know to be over 60.

I'd say "inherently social" is a better way to put it than "inherently moral". Adding an abstract dimension to what is essentially a self-regulating system of interpersonal interaction seems redundant and confusing.

(Since I have a small daughter myself now, the 'rogue creation' line kind of stuck with me.) I further had the impression that DV was one of these people; obviously I was wrong. It's the cosmic rays, they've had too long to work on my DNA.
Well, the exchange did take place. But the mother was Kyna and the daughter was Faizah.

Well, both fascism and socialism involve a strong centralised government. And while fascism is inherently hierarchical as far as political power goes, it doesn't necessarily imply a particular economic ideology; Nazi economic policies were for the most part moderately socialist, and in fact not entirely dissimilar to those of social democratic nations such as the modern UK.

Well, there's already another well-respected scenario rankings site: CSR . There's no requirement for membership as such (you just have to register and you can review all you like), but the rankings are generally representative of the Lyceum community (mostly designers) rather than the broader BoA community.

The advantage of a PDF is that it will look exactly the same on any computer, and print exactly the way it looks. Word processors can subtly mess up documents, especially when printed, depending on page size, margin settings and the like. PDF is therefore a good format for documents designed to be printed.

Some free image editing programs can create and edit PDFs for you, but the file sizes tend to be obscene, even compared to regular Acrobat-created PDFs.

Populism is the worst excuse to use for anything. If people like your scenario and populism is the raison d'etre, then the designers are neutered, the community slowly McCarthyizes itself into a circle-jerk mindset, and quality becomes a non-issue overall. The audience becomes less and less of an active observer, and you're left with nothing but action-packed, sex-central TV dramas with catch phrases and cliches.
Populism alone may be a poor reason to design, but "because I want to" is the best possible reason. Kelandon is designing the scenarios he wants to design, just like you. If the scenarios he were designing weren't scenarios he wanted to design, he wouldn't design scenarios at all. Is that the result you want?

Jeff Vogel does write pretty good dialogue. (Well, he did in the Exile/Avernum series. He got lazy in BoX.)

Also, I really don't see how you can complain about people wanting to build their plot on the Avernum storyline. I mean, it is called Blades of Avernum. The playing audience is mostly going to be people who played and enjoyed the Avernum series.

But more importantly, this is starting to look awfully like a one-sided vendetta on your part. Nobody else wants to pick a fight about this, so quit being a prick already.

While I have no difficulty believing that people go around whacking you over the head on a regular basis, it's not a typical aspect of human experience.

Uh, for the record, I wasn't the one who first mentioned exactly what kind of fluid the nutrient fluid could be. Yeah, that's the ticket. Plausible deniability.

Anyway, at least I'm not the one talking about breastfeeding a giant pig-thing that lives in a bowl.

Hmm, four ways to be touched. Okay, hugged, kissed, caressed , and I'll let you guys think of the final way. I said four because that's how many options there were in the game.
Like TM, I was thinking of bodily locations, not manners of touching. Perhaps this reflects some significant gender difference, or perhaps simply a lack of patience on our part.

I believe it's mentioned at some point that the glowing fungus that lights the caves wasn't created by the mages, but existed back when the first exiles were sent down (possibly created by Vahnatai, although this is never explicitly stated). At least, this was the case in the Exile series; not sure if it was changed for Avernum.
