One would assume so. Acting on TM's behalf without TM's permission is a foolhardy thing to do. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

I think that by "only compatible with Blades of Avernum 1.1 or newer on a Mac" he meant "if you have a Mac, you'll need BoA 1.1 or newer". Remember, string manipulation calls didn't exist until Mac 1.1 and Windows 1.0. (Although if he hasn't converted the graphics to Windows format yet, well, that'd be inconvenient, since Windows users can't do it themselves.) Um, 100 multiplied by 100 is 10,000, which is more than 100. So the statement about width multiplied by height not being able to be greater than 100 is actually correct as it is. :P You can have an outdoors with dimensions of, say, 20x5 or even 50x2 if you want, although I'm not sure why you'd want to. Are you using Mac or Windows? If Mac, look for a file with the extension .cmg in the old scenario folder and move that into the new one. If Windows, do the same thing to all files with the extension .bmp. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Today's name, Flagellation (that is to say, whipping), may not seem like much of a medical treatment but it did find favour during one particular epidemic of disease. When bubonic plague was rampant in Europe, many people believed the disease was a punishment for their sins, and therefore whipped themselves in an attempt to atone and thereby avoid the plague. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Some death-penalty states still offer hanging and firing squads as methods of execution too. Not sure if there are any other methods still in use in the USA. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Well, that's the thing. They have a whole team of insurance assessors whose job it is to work out the value of the stuff they're insuring. They're not easily persuaded by a claimant who, after all, has a vested interest in overestimating the item's value. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Well, it's likely that the $300 is an excess -- that is, in the event of a claim, the insurance company agrees to pay $300 less than the cost of repair or replacement. (The purpose of an excess is to prevent people from making a claim for a trivial amount of damage). However, a lot of insurance companies will insure a car at its market value. So if he can prove that the average market value of that model of car is $6000, he could get $5700. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Garrison, you will notice that my name isn't ECT. I'm aware that ECT is sometimes useful as a treatment of last resort for depression. However, I think we can all agree that it shouldn't be performed on an unconscious and nonconsenting patient. :P Divination with a bell? That's a new one. I'll have to look that one up. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

That's what he's trying to do, ben; he's trying to get more money out of the insurance company first by proving the car was worth more than they say it is. Next time, get an insurer who offers agreed value instead of market value. Less hassle. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Yes, but if a planet took 5000 hours to turn like Venus does, finishing Exile 3 in 100 "days" would take a lifetime for the PCs. :P -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Ooh, I've read one of James Herriot's books (All Creatures Great and Small, unless my recollection fails me). Don't remember that anecdote, though. Yes, there are plenty of people who come to their doctors complaining of being tired all the time and not having the energy to do anything. And without further information, that set of symptoms isn't really adequate to form a definitive diagnosis of anything. That, however, is not an excuse to put tired people in comas. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

Today's name, Deep Sleep Therapy, was an experimental treatment for depression and other mental illnesses, administered mainly at Chelmsford Psychiatric Hospital in Sydney, Australia, in the 1960s and 1970s. Patients were rendered comatose with high doses of sedatives, sometimes for weeks at a time. Often, during this time, electroconvulsive therapy was also administered to the patient without their knowledge or consent. Several patients died; many others suffered permanent neurological disabilities. The disaster that Chelmsford's treatment program had degenerated into was exposed by a current affairs program in 1980. A parliamentary investigation ensued, along with massive lawsuits and criminal charges against several of the doctors involved. Today's name, Mallets, is the first historically-recognised form of anaesthesia. In ancient times, when it was absolutely necessary to render someone unconscious for surgery, it was traditional to get them horribly drunk and/or beat them over the head with a mallet until they lost consciousness. Really. ... Okay, it's lame. But I'm tired and I've done 20 of these already. Give me a break. -------------------- My BoE Page Bandwagons are fun! Roots Hunted!
