All barriers upstairs in the Tower of Magi are dispellable by the Dispel Barrier spell. If you can't dispel them, try raising your mage's Spellcraft and Magery. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

quote:Yup. As a rough estimate, about 70% of conceptions never survive to birth, and most of those die in the first few weeks after conception. And of course, in the first 14 days after conception, an embryo is capable of dividing in half to form identical twins, which poses the curly question of when the second soul appears -- especially since an embryo that has split in this way occasionally reunites soon after and ends up producing a single fetus. In fact, sometimes the embryos of two non-identical twins will fuse in the uterus to form a single "chimeric embryo", developing into a baby with cells from both twins distributed roughly evenly throughout all its organs. Does a chimeric human have one soul or two? [ Thursday, February 23, 2006 20:57: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I believe the world record for a cat's lifespan is 36 years, and I've known several people who've had cats who lived over 20 years. In general, indoor cats live longer than outdoor cats, provided they're not overfed. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I had a discussion with an Anglican priest once about what, if anything, he believed happened to humans which died before birth. His response was basically that it's a complex theological issue that it's generally best not to think about too much. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Last thing you ate: An ice cream cone (with chocolate chips, chopped nuts and caramel) What you're wearing right now: A fawn T-shirt and white Bjorn Borg boxer shorts. It's the middle of summer here. Describe the room you are in: * White ceiling with light fitting in the centre (no lampshade), peach walls (shut up, they were that colour before this became my room), bare wood floor * Starting from immediately in front of me and going clockwise: - a wooden table (with computer, printer, various books and papers). Wicker trunk full of old shoes underneath. - a filing cabinet (bottom drawer full of financial records, top drawer full of snack foods, telephone sitting on top) - a large dresser full of clothes (with a television, DVD player and clock radio atop it; photographs and a hand-knitted sheep rest on top of the television) - a large window (covering most of the wall to my right, and providing a view of part of the front garden) - a wooden chair, covered in a stack of books and magazines, with a couple of bags and briefcases underneath it - a large sports bag, filled with a selection of clothes and books for when I need to travel - a small dresser; top drawer filled with sunglasses, spare change, calculators and other miscellany, bottom two drawers filled with papers - a single bed, currently unmade - a lamp at the foot of the bed (with two lights on it; one is currently broken) - a bookshelf, stacked with various books, CDs, DVDs, cassette tapes and an old telephone - two large cardboard boxes stacked atop each other; the upper one is empty, the lower contains an old computer. A few clothes are piled on top. - a walk-in wardrobe occupying most of the wall to my left, containing blankets and clothing, mostly fancy and mostly not mine - a door, allowing convenient entrance and egress [ Thursday, February 23, 2006 00:16: Message edited by: Thuryl ] -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! I've explained this several times before. It's the face of Korean cult leader Sun Myung Moon photoshopped onto a costume of popular anime character Sailor Moon. Moon, Moon... it's a pun, see. I have another, conceptually similar image ready for when a certain event takes place. Walk around the shade. You should be able to get past without attracting its attention if you're careful -- there's another underground passage near it that will lead you out of the city to the west. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! quote:You believe abortion to be a sin, right? Resisting the temptation to commit a sin is a good thing, right? Giving other people the opportunity to do good things is also a good thing, right? Therefore, your duty as a Christian is to give other people as many opportunities as possible to be tempted by sin so that they can grow in moral character by resisting that temptation, which means, logically, that you should be in favour of legalised abortion. Okay, so that's a silly argument. But I'm not in the mood for serious ones at the moment. :P -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Also, the reason the editors you've downloaded aren't working for you is probably because they're for Windows. I don't know if one exists for Mac, although it's possible. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Posts: 9973 | Registered: Saturday, March 30 2002 08:00 |

By the way, if you want a web browser that also includes email software (much more secure than Outlook), an IRC chat client, and one of the cleanest HTML authoring programs in existence, take a look at Mozilla Seamonkey. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Means of transportation to work/school: I drive. A RL nickname not previously mentioned here: Haven't had too many nicknames. There was a girl in my fencing club who used to call me Piggy. Worst choice of Halloween costume you've ever had: Australia isn't big on Hallowe'en and I'm not big on parties, so I've only been to one Hallowe'en party. I went as Elvis Presley, and am still not sure whether this was a good or a bad choice. A mythological figure you identify with: Sisyphus. A Simpsons character you identify with: Marge. Favorite Sesame Street character: What, I can only choose one? ... Fine. Kermit the Frog. Favorite Spidweb game character: Khoth. Favorite (English) word: Flail. It's a verb, it's a noun, it's endless fun to say in either capacity! Favorite cereal: Sultana Bran. Although I also like Quaker Oats, not to eat but because I find its name inexplicably hilarious.
