Alien Blade and Flaming Broadsword? It's generally a matter of personal preference. Are you ambidextrous? If not, you're losing a lot of damage. Major summon? Phaw. I like Avatar, Antimagic Cloud, and Slow Group/Mass Paralysis. But actually, most of the time when I play as a singleton, I don't bother with mage spells. I'll pile on the the encumbering armor. I just cast Avatar and hack away while nobody can touch me. But that's true - singletons do gain levels much faster than larger parties. In Geneforge the town hostility is measured more gradually than just being caught stealing or killing someone. For instance, stealing from and killing serviles in Geneforge 1 can go on for a while before a town will become hostile. There are different thresholds. Right now, the mods have basically the entire day covered, with a small gap when board activity is generally nil. Only the top three will advance. In case of ties, I already have several tiebreakers in mind. Personally, I think Exile III was much better than Avernum 3, but both of those two games get an undeserved bad rap. They're very good, and anyone who prefers Avernum 1 over them is having a laugh. Since you're posting this in the Nethergate forum, you may receive some biased results. Personally, I prefer Avernum, as it is larger, more in-depth, and the engine is more polished.
