This is a poll, and you can state your reasons by replying to it. I just feel like posting these old boring polls for any newbies who missed the last time they were done. It's marginal because the differences between E2 and E3 spells are small. On the whole I preferred the earlier game. The mage version of ravage enemy was vaguely useful. Repel was a useful spell (for ogre mages, and so on) and I missed not having it in my Anama party. But the real clincher for me is, why introduce both falling asleep and paralysis (pretty much the same effect) but not give you a single spell to inflict acid? E3 forfeits points for a lost opportunity. -------------------- "I can't read this thread with that image. But then, that's not a complaint." -Scorpius Geneforge 4 stuff. I prefered E3's system. the drop down bar was a lot easier than the one in the actual game window. -------------------- I'll put a Spring in your step. Posts: 2396 | Registered: Saturday, January 29 2005 08:00 |

The later Exiles had a somewhat better variety of spells, that's true. On the other hand, Exile 1's spells cost the fewest spell points. You could cast almost twice as many Fireballs or Firestorms with the same number of SP, compared to E2 or E3. -------------------- The Empire Always Loses: This Time For Sure! Yes, I noticed that. It only cost about 4 to do a fireball, whereas on E3 it cost...aww heck, I can't remember. It was more, though. -------------------- I'll put a Spring in your step. Posts: 2396 | Registered: Saturday, January 29 2005 08:00 |

What was it with Flame Arrows? Is it supposed to do anything whatsoever? I've tried, at my highest levels, using it against goblins and it still doesn't do more than, like, 4 damage. -------------------- "Sometimes I get all hungry! And then I catch some flies! I think that its due to the fact that the stronger you are, the more targets you have, therefore lowering the points. The more targets you have, the less points it takes off. That said, it is a pretty weak spell anyway, and I never used it, so I would not know. Stick to flame, fireball or flamestrike. [ Tuesday, July 05, 2005 15:26: Message edited by: Spring. At a low level the Wound spell is pretty good for killing wolves and goblins. -------------------- I say never be complete. I say stop being perfect. I say let's evolve. Let the chips fall where they may. Posts: 1277 | Registered: Sunday, December 9 2001 08:00 |

Wound is great at any level, since it deals unblockable damage (great for Rakshasi and all-immune creatures). -------------------- "At times discretion should be thrown aside, and with the foolish we should play the fool." - Menander ==== Drakefyre's Demesne - Happy Happy Joy Joy Encyclopedia Ermariana - Trapped in the Closet ==== You can take my Mac when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! The highest level I have got to is around 35, in around 150 days of play. Wound is a great Priest spell, whatever the level. Its great against Jordan. -------------------- I'll put a Spring in your step. Posts: 2396 | Registered: Saturday, January 29 2005 08:00 |

In the game Blades of Exile, its easy to get your party to high levels. I got all of my party to level 50 easily. :) [ Thursday, July 07, 2005 08:51: Message edited by: Demon-Kid ] -------------------- --------------------------------- Live long and prosper. Yes, but that's because you can use the same party in every scenario. E3 got abusive once I got Firestorm (or was it Fireblast? It's that big fire spell that can hit up to 21 guys), Mind Duel, and those soul crystal spells. Capture an apprentice, and keep mind dueling the copies for mana, and you have an infinite battery of AoE. -------------------- Polaris - owns you. quote:I find it extremely easy to get to level 50 with a single character party, I havn't even solved the troglo/giant plague with mine yet and he's level 45 or so. Not due to lack of ability, mind you, just havn't gotten there yet. Avatar and major summon are the single man's best friend. Posts: 8 | Registered: Tuesday, June 21 2005 07:00 |

Major summon? Phaw. I like Avatar, Antimagic Cloud, and Slow Group/Mass Paralysis. But actually, most of the time when I play as a singleton, I don't bother with mage spells. I'll pile on the the encumbering armor. I just cast Avatar and hack away while nobody can touch me. But that's true - singletons do gain levels much faster than larger parties. I've taken a party where everyone was under level 20 to the endgame and won, so level is more a factor of how much you explore than how powerful you are.
