For me it depends on how much I have to do to get the full experience. If there is no discernible difference between the sexes and it doesn't effect gameplay at all, I'll go male because I'm male. If you can choose multiple characters, I'll go 50-50, like what I do in Avernum (I also make sure to get one of each race as well for all the dialogue options) and what I did in World of Warcraft (a female ended up becoming my main in WoW completely by accident).

If I need to play the game through twice because it is an RPG with a 'good guy' ending and a 'bad guy' ending, I will usually play evil with the female, because bad girls are hot, and male as a good guy because male heros are simply more believable to me, given how much fighting in involved in games like these.

With Fallout I had to do a good guy male, a bad guy male, and a bad guy female, because the evil female experience was totally different given all the sexual encounters in that game (no good guy female because you simply don't have as much sex when you're a good guy).

That seems logical to me. And even though I'm so strategist in-game myself, I'm pretty sure that's exactly how a lot of players use them.

I have no problem with body type discrimination. Being a woman doesn't make you any less healthy. Fat heros are not good role models. I mean the kids playing these games are obese enough as it is, no?

I would say that Avernum has Geneforge beat in characters, however. Only in the last few games has the story begun to heat up in Geneforge, but Avernum has always had numerous recognizable and reoccurring characters. My wallpaper will likely just be just a bunch of characters since they are what I like to draw, but I think I'll do Geneforge anyway since I, too, am quite partial to it.

I'd like to do a nice job on it, so it could be a while.

I was pleased when I found out you could play a female of any race in World of Warcraft and that they would have stats equal to males. Blizzard always did make wise decisions like that. I'll never understand how something can be so awesome while still remaining so politically correct. Even I was only able to accomplish one of those things... you jerks.

Heh, I wonder how many other lurkers should be posting to save their accounts right about now.

Question: How will the deleted accounts effect the numbering system?

Edit: Upon closer inspection, it is likely the person I quoted is not a lurker at all.

First of all, the fact that Salmon would scold someone for posting something off topic is laughable, even though I certainly didn't laugh. Second, it is not even off topic, you were talking about women, politics, and guns and, oh my god, someone posted a female politician with a gun, imagine that. Third, Upon Mars is clearly not from around here, and that is clearly an old picture of Hillary, she doesn't look like that anymore.

I can't believe you guys felt it was necessary to give him a hard time about such trivial things in the first place.

Oh, you're cool Slarty, disqualifying someone because they were arguing on the outcome of a match, that makes sense. Fine, it's your thing, I won't ask to be readmitted. And don't worry, this will be my last post in a Deathmatch thread. The rest will be completely free of my input, pictures, or anything else Tully related. I'm sure I just made all your days.

Yes, but they need to harp on Nemesis's one and only skill because the thought of me winning despite my superiority in every other area makes them sick to their stomach.

You guys do know that I made the first character editor for Geneforge 4 when it came out, don't you? In fact I'm fairly sure that's the reason why there was never a link to one in the forum header, because I made it and the mods hate me to much to give me the credit. That aside, I do know how to script myself into awesomeness.

A while before the Deathmatches first started there was a Spiderweb movie thread where prominent members were assigned actors who would play them. It was really just one person's opinion at the time, it's not like we voted or anything. Like I said, these cards really do seem a bit dated and in some cases inadequate for judging the person's skills.

Alorael vs. Silent Assassin: As much as I would like for Alorael to die, the Silent Assassin is outmatched here. He always comes up with brilliant plans that more often than not involve humiliating rather than lethal consequences. While it would be funny to see Alorael pelted with pies or mousetraps or whatever, his rifle is equipped with bullets. Reminds me of that one scene where Indiana Jones shot that ninja guy with the big sword. Ouch.

Alorael wins.

ADoS vs. Arancaytar: I don't understand the bacon references, all I know is that Aran likes to program things and keep records and crap. Boring. ADoS has creativity on his side, and a few crazy symbols will overcome an army of 1s and 0s any day.

ADoS wins.

Goldenking vs. Drakfyre: While skribbane canisters may seem powerful, I'm still conviced they would make the user weaker than before he used them, whether it be by suffering withdraw or having your skin fall off from using too many of them. While I would like to award this round to Goldenking anyway for simply being more active than Drakefyre (which isn't saying much), Drakey is Drakey. I'm not saying no one can beat him, but I don't think Goldenking is among those who can.

Drakefyre wins.

Ash Lael vs. Dintiradan: I have no idea who Ash Lael is. This person either hasn't posted since I joined, has posted far too little, or has changed his name and doesn't stand out enough for me to notice him. The fact that Subterra is in his list of items certainly doesn't help him in my book. Dintiradan wins by default, I hope his next opponent is more worthy.

Dintiradan wins.

Nemesis vs. Emperor Tullegolar: He may have killed me with his flying weapon things once before, but I wouldn't fall for the same trick again. Plus, I rarely play a game without cheating first. My maxed out stats can take on anything the designer can throw at me.

I win, I always win, I am the Emperor

Zeviz vs. Stareye: Maybe Zeviz was a big player once before, but since I have joined, he has not posted much of interest. Stareye hasn't either, but he has made up for it with PM discussions he has had with me, and those have been ugly. Stareye fights dirty, he would kick Zeviz in the nuts with his boot and then go after his family while he lies cringing on the ground.

Stareye wins.

SoT vs. Salmon: I've never had a debate with with SoT that I can remember, so it is difficult to gauge his skills. I have noticed that whenever he does post, his words always seem well thought out, which is more than I can say for Salmon. Sometime Salmon says clever things, but more often they are just crude trollling. While that may work on newbs and other members, SoT doesn't even respond to my own trolling remarks, so I think it is safe to say Salmon's would have little effect as well. I'm not sure how SoT would finish Salmon off, however. Logic certainly doesn't work on the fish man. SoT would probably just have to wait for Salmon shoot himself in the foot (or face) by saying something that makes no sense.

SoT wins.

Jewels vs. TM: TM was banned before I joined, so I have only legends of him to go by on this one. Jewels seems whiney to me, and if she whines over the stuff that goes on without TM, I can only imagine how great it would be if he were here.

TM wins.

By the way, the cards seem a bit dated to me. Can they still be edited?

Micawber: You know, the only encounters I ever have with Kelandon have been ones in which is is throwing crude insults at me. They're not even clever like Thuryl's, so I made him the more brutish of the two. Maybe I did go a bit overboard but that is the point of caricatures. The axe is for his title.

Goldenking: It has naught to do with their member number. I'm against number based prejudice, remember? They are serviles because of their subservient nature. I certainly wouldn't make someone like Jeran a servile. He'd probably look more like Kelandon. Maybe with armor to symbolize his ability to take beating.

Imban: That image isn't even that big. How small is your computer?

Technically, yes. But I look at the in-game graphics as more like place holders than anything else. I imagine the following color scheme: Shapers-blue, Rebels-red, Barzites-green, Trakovites-yellow, Awakened-sky blue. You can often see these colors worn by the human soldiers guarding the respective faction's towns, others I made up because them seemed appropriate.

As for the fighting game, I don't think they should be allowed to use magic at all. Just fists. The game would also assume the all had the same strength level. The only differences would be their special attacks, an arcane blast for characters like Erika, temporary creations for the shapers, etc.

Finally, a character I would like to fight as would have to be Limoncelli.
