Against my better judgment, I offer this article up for discussion, because it seemed interesting. Sure beats spam, anyway.

Ah, intellectual spam.

There are some points that aren't brought out in the article. While the people may want something, the government is still controlled by a religious council that can determine what rights are granted under religious law and what is right.

For example prostitution is illegal, but short term marriages of less than a day are permitted. Divorce and the breakup fee make this a legal loophole that keeps it within the law.

Drinking and other Western activities that are against the law occur in private. Enforcement is used as a way to keep people happy. They protest too much against government actions and the laws are more strictly enforced.

Kind of religious Stalinism. There is the leader and then everyone else.

The article would be more readable if weren't so obviously communist.

What, you think that letting your personal biases interfere with your presentation of facts is a virtue?

Skimmed it. It's an okay article, but not my thing to discuss on this board, though I will say I have no real opinion on the matter.

It is funny, when I first read the article; I almost entirely ignored the communist agenda. Instead, I focused on the facts.

I guess I have become accustomed to the pundits paradigm that modern media revolves around.

Fair enough. I mean, the fact that it's from a site called Lenin's Tomb should be enough to tell that it's biased within an inch of its life.

At the very least, I'm puzzled by the article. I'm not really sure there's enough there to be anything other than puzzled.

It's funny.

Really.

I saw this very same link on a white supremacist board (Storm Front) that had been linked through a forum tangential to the fishing one I frequent. From what I gathered, the white supremacists were encouraging people to read and accept the info on this link. Does that mean white supremacists = communists?

What could be more equal than being allowed to carry a gun in the name of your nation? Really?

A gun for your own nation.
It's a beautiful fantasy that mankind cooked up: patriotism.
It only helps the gun makers fell more secure and the politicians protected.

Until, of course, someone decides to introduce them to the business end of that gun, and not in a good way.

Really. Not at all necessary to post that picture. It has absolutely no relation to this topic.

It's just some women holding a gun.
Just "illustrating" a comment.
It's not like some important women's face was glued to the picture is it?

EDIT: Less accusatory

Mars, not to say that everyone knows about American politics, but you clearly do have the Internet at your fingertips. It even says her name in the URL.

First of all, the fact that Salmon would scold someone for posting something off topic is laughable, even though I certainly didn't laugh. Second, it is not even off topic, you were talking about women, politics, and guns and, oh my god, someone posted a female politician with a gun, imagine that. Third, Upon Mars is clearly not from around here, and that is clearly an old picture of Hillary, she doesn't look like that anymore.

I can't believe you guys felt it was necessary to give him a hard time about such trivial things in the first place.
