1. What was the last song you listened to?
This Suffering by Billy Talent. I've been listening to that particular album a lot lately.
2. What was the last song / album you bought?
23 by Blonde Redhead (the album, I don't buy separate songs)
3. What is your favorite song?
Don't really have one, depending on my mood there are a number of songs that make me fidget in an awkward manner, reminiscent of dancing.
4. What is your favorite record album?
This also varies depending on mood. But I'll just say something here: The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers
5. What song do you think has the best music?
I apparently go for loud drumming and gritty guitar.
6. What song do you think has the best lyrics?
Once again, varies depending on mood. I'll say Walk Away by Bad Religion.
7. Who is your favorite composer?
Oh, I don't know.
8. Who is your favorite lyricist?
Probably Greg Graffin.
9. Who is your favorite performing artist?
I haven't really gone to that many concerts, so I'll just answer this with: That one band me and my friends go listen to every now and then.
10. Is there any song that has ever just hit you like a brick? What was it, and why?
Probably a few. Usually when the lyrics relate to whatever I'm going through at the time, I stop and listen.
11. What is that one song that you just can't stand?
No specific song, though I try to avoid modern R&B, pop and rap as much as possible.
12. What artist do you absolutely hate?
No hate here, mainly because I've been reasonably successful in avoiding the annoying ones.
13. If a group of SpiderWebbers got together to start a band, who would be in it, and what genre would they perform?
From what I've gathered, there are a lot of marching band members, both past and present, on the boards, as well as friends of classical music. So I assume they'd get together to perform some weird neo-classical music that I wouldn't want to hear.

Webcomics in General

I'd assume that buzzcomix and topwebcomics are common knowledge to anyone reading webcomics?

Dr. McNinja - A doctor who is also a ninja.

Looking for Group - An elf warrior looking to right some wrongs; and possibly picking the wrong crowd for it. From the makers of Least I Could Do.

Misfile - Okay, so the premise is terrible (a boy who has been turned into a girl), but the writing is pretty damn solid, and if you enjoy a soap opera, I'd say this one ranks pretty high.

The Non-Adventures of Wonderella - One of those superhero comics where the hero is good for nothing. But hey, it's a woman!

The Perry Bible Fellowship - Short humor strips which might require some capacity for thought to understand.

A Softer World - Not exactly comics in the sense that they aren't drawn. Some solid photography combined with quite interesting musings. (The server seems to be down right now. Hopefully it's not forever.)

P.S. If I don't get it, does that mean the joke is on me, Scorp?

Yeah, I had the same feeling when writing that post. Still, it's good advice for everyone. Maybe a worthy Code of Community candidate?

I was actually referring to the UBB code side of it. But never mind, when you mentioned two files, I finally got it: Img tag inside a url tag, with two different sized pictures.

Save files?! in Avernum 4
Shock Trooper
Member # 6666

Well, I installed A4 just to check the mysterious save game problem. I'm a Vista x64 user, and installed the game in the default folder.

After starting the game, I saved the game in the first available slot, and quit. After some searching, the saved game was found in "c:\program files (x86)\avernum 4\data\save0\", so the obvious folder. Since your folders were empty, the only guess I have is that you've installed the game twice. Are you running the game from the start menu, and if so, have you verified that it is in fact running the game from the directory that has the empty save folders?

Like I said, everything worked fine with me, so if the above doesn't help, then I'm all out of ideas.

Yes, from time to time Jeff purges the contents of the General board. It's because the software this forum runs on is so archaic and unreliable that things start to break down whenever there's too much stuff in here.

You can find old deleted posts archived here if you want.

Save files?! in Avernum 4

Try searching for the files: "Start->Search->For Files or Folders...", and then type the exact name of one saved game, .sav extension included.

I think Jeff's latest games usually save the games in My Documents, but I guess they could have been accidentally misplaced somewhere else.

RPGs with Unusual Mechanics in General

I think Natuk has probably the best combat system I've ever seen in an RPG. It features turn-based combat, aimed attacks, armor that affects both to-hit-ratios and damage received, and a system that actually resembles the one from Krondor: Whenever a character gets hit, the blow can reduce its health, strength and/or willpower. Also, the characters are not machines that keep on fighting 'til that magical HP count drops to zero: Whenever their hit points drop to about 50 percent, there's a chance that they'll fall unconscious. The spell system is also great.

Original names in General

I think my first PDN was Numbergrabber, which was basically just a placeholder while I tried to think of something more clever to put in. I never made a single post under that name. My first posting PDN was "Proud Owner of:", and that one stuck for a little while. Mainly changed it because it's not really a name. I completely agree with Synergy on the annoyance of constantly changing names. And to make it worse, some people think it's funny to change their entire profile while they're at it, making recognition even harder.

At first it was clockwise for me, and I could see no way to change this. Then I noticed the reflection. Staring at it for a while, I convinced myself that she is in fact rotating counter-clockwise, and now I can't change it back.

I think it's a good idea to wait for the picture to load completely before looking at it.

Oh please, you were always so incredibly well-behaved and articulate, I was shocked to find out how young you really are.

I started posting on some BoA thread, having successfully registered the member number I was after. Man, the search function for the archives is both fun and easy to use.

The green grass is definitely not right for the season. And the trees in all of the pictures seem slightly... off. Maybe it's the lack of red like Thuryl pointed out. Also, have you checked Nikki's autumn graphics in Discord? I think they might be a bit closer to what I expect fall to look like.

Actually, it might look more realistic if you had two or three different shades of brown for the trees. It all seems so monotonous now.

As far as I know, deleted posts still increase your post count. With the spam fests we've had in the past, do you really think that giving every single member with three or more brain cells the opportunity to artificially increase their number of posts is a smart move? The increased server load from that alone would make it unfeasible.

EDIT: Now, editing posts - that's a good option.

Looks like the company that made it is based in Singapore. Maybe everyone (and I mean everyone) involved in its design was a non-native English speaker? At least, I hope that's the case.

Do I need to enter the sewers from a different point? Because I've tried every possible combination of the three flood gate levers, and can't seem to make any progress.
