While comic relief and not taking things too seriously tends to be a good thing, there are times when it's not. If we lose other people's characters and plotlines in the filler, or it becomes so absurd that it ruins suspension of disbelief, then it becomes a bad thing. For the most part, I don't have a problem with what you're doing, but it comes close to that line or crosses it at times, so please keep your ICs reasonable, both in content and in amount.

Anything you drop indoors (like a town or dungeon) will stay there when you leave and come back, so just about anywhere will do.

I kinda figured that BainIhrno would make judge rankings and comments public eventually.

As far as CSR goes, my comments were definitely geared towards why I ranked which scenario where I did as opposed to reviews, and I don't really want to try and fix them up into reviews right now. I'll gladly send participants my comments on their scenarios, though.

No, I'm in Mannik as well as around it.

Time in RPs is always a bit screwy, but I'm trying my best (and perhaps, therefore, making it worse) to make some sense out of it. Only about two or three days have passed for my character. I'm assuming that much more time (like a few months) have passed for your character, in order for Cassius to begin building a business empire with Barbados and Kuberr, have a falling out, and then revert back to his old ways.

(I also see the vampires as having only recently moved into Mannik when Harath disappeared, and Harath's priests and army as still having fairly tight control over the city, which is another reason there feels like a time discrepancy in our plotlines.)

My latest post was the beginning of a plot arc to explain why Cassius and the vampires became the dominant force in Mannik instead of Fourty.

Dikiyoba apologizes for the confusion. If further explanation or IC-editing needs to be done, then Dikiyoba is willing to do it.

OOC: Note that this happens before Cassius and his associates take over the town.

---

Do I reveal myself? Fourty wondered, Well, why not?

He shifted form slightly, keeping his body entirely hidden in his robes and hood (since no one would be too impressed by the plainness and flab of a long-time bureaucrat) but letting some of his divinity shine through. Most of the Forsaken cried out in surprise and backed away from him.

"I am Fourty. I ruled this city and surrounding countryside 350 years ago, when Mannik was but a small backwater village. Then Harath and his followers came and condemned me for what I did wrong. But I escaped, to learn from my mistakes. And now I am back, to clean up the mess that Harath has made."

"Blasphemy!" Bucklar hauled himself to his feet with a strength Fourty never would have known was possible. "Heretic! Everything Harath does is just!"

"Harath is punishing everyone I see in front of me for a crime they didn't commit. Talsh, did you participate in the rebellion? Or you, Hava? And what about you, Bucklar? You're a loyal priest of Harath--what did you do to deserve this?"

"We all knew about the rebellion and did nothing. Therefore, we are complicit. Harath was more merciful than I could ever hope to..."

"Harath took everything you had in your lives away. He exiled children too young to do anything. He broke apart sacred vows that were supposed to last a lifetime. And he did it under the guise of mercy. If Cassius, the god of suffering, were here right now, I bet he couldn't think of a better system."

A voice entered Fourty's mind. No, but I can suggest improvements. I suggest you come down to Harath's main temple right away.

But there was no need, for Vizoth prayed to Fourty a moment later. Fourty, I'm in an emergency meeting with the other high priests and priestesses. There's a lot going on. Some of the priests and priestesses sensed what... whatever happened earlier. And there's vampires about, people keep running across drained bodies. The leaders of this town, both religious and political, have to act now if they're going to stay in power. The ordinary people are nervous, the army is anxious and bloodthirsty, and the group of priests who think that Harath left because we were too lax is winning the argument. Someone's going to get blamed, Fourty, and the Forsaken are the easiest to blame. They've been mentioned several times already. And the army has had scouts out looking for them for the past several days, so they know exactly where the camp is.

Fourty was dimmly aware the Bucklar was still arguing against him. No doubt he was making convincing points.

Seriously, Cassius said, You should come over here. Someone turned in your little friend Vizoth's warehouse, complete with secret exit. I'm not going to mention any names... well, actually, it was me. He doesn't know it yet, but any moment now he will. I'd hate to be in his shoes then. Harath may have fairly quick executions, but he isn't so nice when it comes to getting information out of people.

"I don't have time for this!" Fourty yelled. "You." Fourty pointed at Bucklar. "You will not speak until I get back. I have to go rescue one of the best and bravest people I've met in a long while. I will be back shortly. Finish packing up camp while I'm gone--there is a good chance you'll have to run for it when I come back." Fourty glanced at the enraged but silent Bucklar to make sure his spell had worked and then transported himself to the roof of Harath's main temple.

My one concern is that we're both in Mannik, but our stories seem to be moving at a different pace. I'll see what I can do to catch my story up to yours over the next few days.

The invisible forums (the old Geneforge and Geneforge 2 Forums) were deleted when the Geneforge 4 Forum was created, not the Avernum 4 Forum, but other than that, Dikiyoba thinks that's accurate.

Kyshakks (the dinosaur/rhino looking one) don't do the best damage, but they are useful meatshields. War tralls are battle creations, so there are better options out there.

There is a link in the forum header that can take you to a few good creation analysis threads, if you want more detailed information on all the creations.

Um, Lone Flame? A TV and computers? Kalandha is a mostly-realistic fantasy world. Computers and televisions don't exist.

Unless this is some alternate universe, in which case Dikiyoba is confused and needs explanation.

Fourty stared at the wolves. Several of the Forsaken grabbed whatever was nearby to defend themselves. But the wolves didn't attack. Instead, the largest one stepped forward and opened its mouth. A stange, echoing voice tumbled out.

We sense you for what you are, though we do not know who you are or what you stand for. But you can help us.

"Help you with what?" Fourty asked. He realized everyone was alternately staring between him and the wolves.

The single voice broke into many. Rest. Vengeance. Freedom. Justice.

"But... but..." Fourty stammered.

The single voice returned. Harath has wronged us. You can save us. Come to the Haunted Forest.

The wolves had turned to leave before Fourty found his voice again. "Can it wait? I've kind of got a full plate as it is."

The largest wolf stopped. We have waited too long already. And we can provide sanctuary in the forest for the Forsaken. With that, the wolves loped off.

Meeka recovered from the shock first and promptly challenged Fourty. "So, Zvalt, what was that all about? Who are you really?"

There's plenty of reliable information on him. His posts (well, enough of them) are still around. Just search through General for threads started by "&" in February and March of 2006 if you need to see for yourself.

If not, just know that his constant disruptive insulting, threats to leave, and apologies got him permabanned. He's made many reappearances to beg for another chance, insult everyone he can, and to call for the banning of other members.

quote:
2: Why is the name "Arrghhhhh" so often mentioned and who is he?
Arghhhhhhhhh appeared about the same time as Ed. He had good intentions but couldn't stop spamming, despite many warnings, so he was eventually banned. Because he was around for so long and because he is well and truly gone now, he's become the benchmark to compare other noobish members to, unfortunately.

4: Whats this "cult" I keep hearing about and why is everyone so idiotic about it?
Trying to explain this rationally is impossible. If your sanity is already close to breaking, accept that there are some things one should not understand and ignore all references to it. If you still have some willpower left, read the threads started by Icshi (and similar looking ones started by other people in the same time period) in the Richard White Games Forum.

quote:
7: Just why is this place s weird anyway?
Our greeting is "Welcome to Spiderweb Software. Leave your sanity at the door." What kind of people do you think this attracts?

Dikiyoba skipped any questions that have been better explained by others already.

2. A battle so fierce is drives most of the less interested audience members away from the arena, Alec wins by a hair.

4. Thuryl. Why? Because Thralni will get distracted about whether this is a popularity contest or not and forget who he is supposed to attack. Tullegolar? Tyranicus? Or maybe... Meanwhile, Thuryl will unleash a barrage of puns that hurt.

1. Ephesos casts RETRIBUTION!!! and then makes a tree fall on Lazarus to make sure he never gets up again.

3. Nicothodes has Sherbiebaby. Dikiyoba has a cult. Nicothodes has mechanical pencils. Dikiyoba has Episodes 1-3. Nicothodes can make music. Dikiyoba can make invulnerability elixers. Dikiyoba knows who will win this one...

5. Synergy likes to understand what goes on in people's minds. Delicious Vlish just eats them. Delicious Vlish.

6. Tyranicus can invite MagmaDragoon to chat, but MagmaDragoon has a time zone immunity. That, and a mother who will make him do his homework. Magma's mother's homework attack would cause a delay in the match, allowing Tyranicus to get drunk and apply massive amounts of woad. And also to summon Cordelia, causing Magma's mother to flip out and attack them both. MagmaDragoon has parry, but still can't block all the verbal assults. Tyranicus, however, doesn't know Italian and hence is completely immune. Tyranicus wins a deathmatch for the first time ever.

7. Riibu's Chaos Attack won't do much good in a fight against the freaky, bizzare, and just plain odd attcks of Archmage Alex's stick figures. She can hide from them invisibly, though, because she's pretty picky about which webcomics she likes and so will be able to resist laughing at Alex's cartoons. But Archmage Alex can draw her into his comics and easily cause her death in any number of ways. Alex rolls into the next round without even needing his katamari.

8. Stew Boy.

Dikiyoba gave him (quite encumbering) armor in Episode 3. But if he took it off for this deathmatch (most likely to increase the odds of getting a second swing), then so be it.

*pokes at scripts*

Looks like cracked walls are level 1, some boulders are level 2, and one boulder is level 3. So different from the trilogy (or at least A2, which is the only one Dikiyoba is really familiar with).

Gasp! Riibu isn't affected by Homeland! The Lurker doesn't stand a chance now!

Unless, of course, Riibu gets bored and wanders off to do other stuff. Dikiyoba still thinks that is likely to occur.

Don't get your hopes up.

Why? Because Blades of Avernum didn't sell well, took up too much of Jeff's time, and was hard to design for. There's no reason for BoG to be any better. So the answer is no. Unfortunate, but that's the way it is.

No, it's not. I've found it to be one of the funnier pictures I've seen so far (though the clear winner is Grim as Lord Grimm).

Please quit whining. This is both a highly subjective comparison of people's gimmicks and an opportunity to poke fun at people and their gimmicks. It's not a popularity contest, it's entertainment, and you're taking it far too seriously. Sit back, relax, enjoy the show, and then worry about winning and losing.
