5. IFM's muffins are no match against MagmaDragoon. He has heavy armor, a devastating attack, and enough exuberance to keep up the battle all day. The only reason he would stop is for Jeff Vogel, G5, or money. The first two are out of IFM's abilities, but he could probably manage to turn into a pile of gold. That would almost certainly backfire, though, and end up with IFM locked up in a treasure chest, never to be seen again. MagmaDragoon wins.

6. Mages don't have much health, so a few blows could take Zeviz out. Fortunately for him, he can web Mysterious Man into immobility and then nuke him out of existence. No matter how mysterious and manly he is, Mysterious Man can't win.

7. Student of Trinity can hurl both one-liners and rocks from a distance. Niemand needs to be in melee to use the Jade Halberd. Student of Trinity will turn Niemand's addition of heights against him by standing on a cliff above Niemand and firing down on him. Niemand will expire before he has time to create a script to counteract that. Student of Trinity wins.

8. Riibu and the Lurker will spend several hours trying to find each other with no success. Or rather, spend several hours trying to hide from each other successfully, for the Lurker knows he can't stand up against the power of being Finnish, while Riibu just isn't much into fighting. Eventually, she'll just get bored and wander off to artwork or flirt with Arancaytar or something. The Lurker wins by default.

Dikiyoba hopes that Jewels and Zeviz win their matches. We need the epic confrontation of love and EVOL in Round 2!

1. WKS will post the Kama Sutra. Jewels can forgive that and then smother him to death with love. Jewels wins.

2. Smoo has large rats, small rats; red rats, blue rats; magic rats, wererats. Ash Lael has a chainsaw, the other half of the Creator, and a job at the radio station. So it's evenly matched. Until the wall ogres (or maybe wall rats) burst through the wall and catch Ash Lael off guard. Smoo wins.

3. This is the contest that will destroy the world. Zephyr will quietly mutter insane gibberish to himself, unaffected by Goldenking's canister-driven rampage for world domination. And then Goldenking will accidentally kill Zephyr's cat. Overextended and with no allies, Goldenking (and whatever is left of the world) will fall to Zephyr's cold, unbelievable fury.

4. Marlenny has a stack of censuses and surveys a mile high. Nicothodes has a hurt arm and so is incapable of answering them. If Marlenny ever implied anywhere that Nicothodes is cute, then the pencils will come out and Marlenny is a goner. If not, then Nicothodes will just give Marlenny cookies. But wait! The cookies were secretly poisoned before the match began, because Nikki thought it would ensure that he and Nicothodes spend eternity together. Unfortunately for him, it will be Nicothodes who wins this round.

Dikiyoba will do the other half later.

8. Saunders vs. Stew Boy
I'm not sure Stew Boy has been around long enough to be completely out of danger from the turtles, but he has certainly learned how to dodge away from them. However, Student of Trinity has, as usual, fulfilled his own elegance function, and produced an unsimplifiable, uncontradictable solution: Saunders never gets upset. Saunders wins.
Nooooo!

Oh well. Predicting six out of eight winners isn't bad. Should we move the losers to the Avernum 4 Forum so they can be restored to vote on the rest of the matches?

Um, Infernal is clearly not IFM.

Edit: How does Dikiyoba manage to create typos in such short posts? :rolleyes:

Just be careful with how many text boxes you use. Dikiyoba is not a fan of them.

No, it's not. Being resurrected/revived is fundamentally different from being brought back as a zombie or other undead because the person being revived (in this case, Lazarus) is brought back alive, instead of as some automation. That means repel spirit doesn't work on him, Nalyd can't control him, etc.

Dikiyoba would like to emphasize the alive bit again. The Spokesmage for the Dead does not speak for the living.

1. Both are flamefest-hardened, uber-sword-wielding fighters. But Infernal is more cynical and insulting, plus Demonslayer has more power on Spiderweb than Excaliber. Infernal.

2. Nioca may act first and get a smite in, but Delicious Vlish will barely survive. But he won't get hit again--Nioca can't act while paralyzed with fear. Delicious Vlish can then slap him silly. Alternately, Nioca could call his bandits in. But Delicious Vlish also has mind control, and can exert enough control over them to make them attack Nioca instead. Delicious Vlish.

3. Both Lord Grimm and the Silent Assassin are lethal, but they will not use their weapons on each other. Instead, the Silent Assassin will proceed to wreck the kitchen until Lord Grimm forfeits just to get some peace and quiet. Silent Assassin.

4. Thralni may be able to throw vegetables from a distance while sending chickens in, but Andraste can smack the chickens with one club while batting the vegetables away with the other. Plus, Andraste will get several attacks in before Thralni gets a chance to act--he works slowly, after all. Andraste.

5. Nalyd will not stop being picky and annoying. He wouldn't shut up, even if Lazarus was dead. But when Lazarus revives, he'll be both famished (being dead will do that to you) and ticked off. The result will not be pretty. Lazarus.

6. It takes time for spray acid to work. Time is not what Randomizer has when he is being mauled by two fluffy turtles. ADoS.

7. Nemesis should have an easy win here, since Nikki will spend the first part of the match whining about not being paired up with Nicothodes. Even if he's too polite to take advantage of that, the only attacks Nikki has is bad poetry and a poisoned pencil. But Nikki is not a Vogon and the pen is not mightier than the dainslaifs. Nemesis.

8. Basically, what Zeviz said. Stew Boy.

The trading cards are sheer brillance and totally worth the wait. Well, it wasn't really the wait that was frustrating. It was more the stuff that filled in the wait.

How are you picking who goes against who? Randomly?

Dikiyoba trusts that Slartucker's ability to reincownate members will not be abused. Unless it's in Dikiyoba's favor, of course. :P

Read the thread that Slartucker linked to in the first post. And then the Wikipedia entry and the Red Mage's column for good measure. Expect it to look something like those.

Or turning the silly messages on and then following the spider around. Or sneaking into the red ant nest, grabbing a pupa, and throwing it into a ant lion trap. Good times.

Play through a combat-heavy section with your drayks under a different save file. Then reload to your earlier point and play through the same section with your drakon and best drayk. Go with the creations that were easiest/most fun to play with.

Well, if we're talking strategy now, first aid will recover some spell points after a battle.

The easiest thing to do might be to search the scripts for someone's dialogue you can get to easily, and then add a reward_give at the end. I don't have A4, so I can't test it for you, but it will probably end up looking like this:

text[#] = "Blah blah blah. Blah blah.";
code =
reward_give([item # for energy elixirs]);
break;
