He does make an appearance without physically being present. Some text mentions seeing him surrounded by Empire soldiers in a fort that your adventurers can't reach. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

All the negativity over a game can be a good thing, though. I had heard all the complaints about A4, so I wasn't surprised or disappointed when I downloaded the demo. As a result, I haven't trashed it in disgust. And all the good things I heard about Nethergate made me re-download the demo and try it out again. One of these days, I'm going to have to leave the starting town, though. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Well, there were always a few places here and there in A2, BoA, and (I'm assuming) A1 and A3 where it was completely dark. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

No, Jeff said it in the final post of the "Ash got banned" topic. The last sentence was about three paragraphs away from the rest of the quote, though. Dikiyoba doesn't like the search feature of these message boards. They're hard to use. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

That's true. They run around picking up trash, plates, and other worthless objects just so they can dump them in one central location. But not nearly so obsessive-compulsive as my shapers, guardians, and agents. They arrange the worthless items so that there are ten of the same item in each pile and nineteen piles in a cleared section. At least my party in Avernum dumps all the worthless items outside where they are lost forever. This is why it takes Dikiyoba two to four months to play through any game. Originally by Alorael: quote:Is this a general word of advice or directed at someone in particular? Specifically, is it directed at me (since it came right after my post)? Dikiyoba is pretty sure it is a general warning, but Dikiyoba is a little paranoid right now. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Dikiyoba suspects te wolf would be more useful if the meat Dikiyoba's party uses to feed the wolf didn't come from the goblin fort. But Dikiyoba's party is quite happy to feed the wolf and let it live, since it isn't likely to attack anyone. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

It's funny that your adventurers don't stop collecting body parts until the quest is completed, even if the appropriate number has been reached. Why does my party need five mottled bat wings when Lark only wants three? Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I hate to hijack this current line of conversation, but I just thought of a good pair after Jadewolf posted this line in the Geneforge forum: quote:Jadewolf and Tesability Black. Their children will be cute cryoa plushies. Dikiyoba. Edit: Fixed typo. [ Sunday, March 05, 2006 10:17: Message edited by: Dikiyoba ] Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

As the original, it gets rated higher than the sequels just because it is different from everything that came before it and is very inventive as well. It has fewer features than the later games, but I actually prefer fewer features (to a point). The option to use the Geneforge is a huge advantage over the other games. It was fun and I'm still trying new strategies. I'm still trying to figure out what Jeff was planning for that nest in Pentil Woods, though. Overall, Dikiyoba gives it a respectable 8.5. Good, but not outstanding. I'll give it an 7.5, since I don't buy anything under a 7.0. It was good to see a sequel and great to see the Awakened with more power than just a good vision. Interestingly, Dikiyoba noticed that several serviles change from female to male between G1 and G2. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

I suspect fewer people would call Nicothodes cute if she could physically stab them. As it is, only the polite and the people with simililar pet peeves will vote "no." Or those who are very hungry. Dikiyoba wants Dikiyoba's cookie now. Because cookies are cute. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |

Thanks for the tip. It should help in my next party of custom spell-casters, but wouldn't have helped much with the pre-made party, since only one could cast bolt of fire anyway. Dikiyoba. Posts: 4346 | Registered: Friday, December 23 2005 08:00 |
