You didn't like The Man in the High Castle? I thought it was really good. Although, I really like alternate history.

I highly doubt this, since Directx 9.0c is available for 98 and ME, and I find it unlikely Jeff would upgrade to DirectX 10 just for fun, expecially since it had just come out when GF4 was ported.

The version for older Macs is not for OS 9, but for PPC OS X. Some systems don't like the Universal Version very well for whatever reason. Anyway, you need 10.3 or later to run N:R, so I hate to tell you this, but you're out of luck. Also, why in the world are you running 10.0? Apple released 10.1 as a free upgrade to all 10.0 users. (Not that that helps you much for N:R, but it should still be done due to all the myriad instabilities and issues with 10.0). If your Mac has USB capability, it can be upgraded to 10.3. You can buy 10.3 discs on eBay for $50 or less.

I startd out with 3 levels of War and Healing and gradually built it up to 8. If you don't mind killing an inncent, you should wait til you are done with the FDaerie Bazaar quests and kill Raven. He drops an All Circle Scroll that boosts, War, Healing, Beast and Craft by 1 point each. Before that, you should go to Hagfen to buy 1 level each of Beast and Craft. THen use the Rod of Safe Descent from Galag-Trav to go down the huge cliff in the Circle Warrens to get the Beastmaster Bracelet, which gives you thes levels of Beast Circle. Finally, if you kill Sleek, the hags will reward you with eithe a Beast increase or a Craft increase. I would go with Craft, since you'll already have 4 levels of Beast.

As for whether or not spells help, Lance of Fire, Battle Rage, and Mild Healing are incredibly helpful at the beginning, and you can start with all of them.

Instead of "To Richard White, Lost Soul in the Ocean Bound Galactic Core," perhaps it should read "To Richard White, Lost Soul in the Rock Solid Ocean Bound Galactic Core" :P

Also, Jeff said that Richard Whit already stopped cashing his checks.

I have had no issues running any of the Exile games or Nethergate in Vista. However, if you are experiencing difficulties, you won't get much help from Spiderweb. Jeff lists them as Vista-incompatible because they are so old that he is not going to support them in Vista.

I resent that! First off, there hasn't been a Misc forum on Spidweb since long before I joined. Secondly, I post here more often than any other forum except General, and that is only because of the sheer volume of spam there. I would never leave my domain. :P

The editor may not list it, but you give it to yourself in the advanced features. It's number 216.

Never anger the Faerie Bazaar. Resetting hostile towns does not help. Setting the following two SDFs in the editor should fix the problem though

Don't taunt the poor newb. He just wants a question answered. That picture cannot be changed. All Celts have the same picture and all Romans have the same. It hearkens back to the days of original Nethergate, although the pictures were different from the ones they have now.

When the Intel version of Tiger was updated to 10.4.8, something was modified in Rosetta which made the Avernum games terribly slow. Jeff is aware of the problem. Whether or not we will see Universal versions of the Avernum trilogy remains to be seen. In the meantime, the games run fine in emulated Windows under Parallels or VMWare, and you can always run them in a BootCamp partition.

Jeff claimed at one point that they seem to run fine, but I also find the lag unbearable. Whenever I want to play A1-3, I open up Parallels and run the Windows version. It's kind of ironic that they run better in emulated Windows than in OS X. :P
