..And some people might find that offensive? Afterall, I don't think Horus has actually said that he thinks Avernum 4 sucks.

How far along are you in the game? I think the Blessed Spear will do more damage than the Bronze Halberd, but if you have gotten down to the Tower Colony yet, just do the quest about the Ogres acting up, kill the Chief and take his Spear of the Fen. Will be useful up to getting the final weapon - Jade Halberd.

Untrue. West of Silver is a smith making you a blessed breastplate, something you won't find replacement for untill you fetch the Emerald Chestguard for your main warrior, and Crystaline Plate for your second warrior/priest.

Slime and Worms are never as resistant as Doomguards, though.

If luck increases dodgeing, it is obviously a worthwhile trait to invest in for combat purposes (even though I never do, because it costs far too much)

After reaching an amazeing level of 5 in Haste, I got somewhat disappointed that it didn't do something more spectacular, like extending the effect from one in the group to all.

Why does Jeff make all the games for Mac first? in Avernum 4

The Spiderweb fanbase will and probably always will be dominated by Mac. The first Exile was, as far as I can recall, released for Mac first, and after that it just continued on.

PC users have their Call of Duty 2, Warcraft 3, Halflife and Splintercell. Let us Mac users have our outdated-graphic, shareware, rpg game. It's the least you can give us.

Avernum 2, it got lower and lower as you walked down. Avernum 4, like Geneforge, don't got height. A shame really.

I miss the possibility of fighting outside of Fight-mode. Just have your warrior lead the party and take out all these minor, annoying enemies with one blow. I am really a timesaver when it comes to things I know I can handle.

The Mertis Spiral! It used to be an awesome, five-level spiraling maze of horror and undead, with hidden passages anddarkness so that you couldn't see without a light spell.
Now the Mertis Spiral is just two levels of straightforwad undead-killing, which gets very boring after the first level.

How stupid. Back in the goold ol' days of Avernum soldiers and people dropped goods and weapons compared to their wealth and status. If you kill Empire soldiers, they will obviousle have steel weapons! Now if you kill someone you get a bronze broadsword, if anything at all.

Edit: And on the moral dilemma issues; Killing that Gremlin in the Eastern Gallery, the last remnant of an once great clan, wasn't very pleasant either.

Killing that ex-bandit in the Southeast region of the Great Cave to settle an old score didn't exactly made me feel good about myself.

Edit: An edit on that, and excuse my drunkness, anyone know if Starrus drop anything intresting? He damn-well better.

So it's like War Blessing, Protection and Prismal (sp?) Shield in one? Does it give any added bonus if you do all the previouse spells first, and then Arcane Shield?

I just read Fahrenheit 451 a couple of days ago, and the most striking thing about that book is that it wasn't the government that began the censorship — it was that people (by and large, not universally) stopped reading good writing. This seems extremely realistic to me.

As far as I can recall, it was both. The people simply decided to do, read and watch the things that gave their brains instant stimuli (like drugs), instead of things that forced them into deep thoughts about philosophy, moral values, life, etc. This made the people dull in mind and body, addicted to that "quick fix". The government simply went along with it, and banned books, seeing that people were much happier (or more "content") with watching mindless television and performing nervstimulating activites than reading books, and so they banned them.

People that don't read books don't question society, and if you don't question society, the government is free to do as it pleases.

You are right that it seems realistic, I agree fully. This new "reality TV" addiction that has spread across my nation, and many others..It scares me. people would actually watch other people have fun (and gossip about these people, and their plots) than to go out and interact (and do the same things as these people do) themselves.
Why do something when you can experience "the same thing", from the comfortable seat of your favorit armchair?

Man, and I shouldn't even get started on such barbarism as "Fear Factory". Is this what we pay our TV licence for, to watch other people eat dog feces?
Something is very wrong with our society.
