I had to do that a couple times at first. Use a lot of magic and kill them very fast. Repel Spirit seems to work pretty well at level three. Sword is fast if you are high level. Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

Cal Grants are given to students with a minimum of 2.0 GPA on a point system. Points are given for the things I listed above. Several friends and family have gone through UCLA and other universities with Cal Grants for being low income or head of household. Head of house hold with children in college also helps, along with being the first in the family to attend college. Anyone in CA can get a Cal Grant for a small amount of work. I have only seen one or two people turned down for financial aid and that was for having a GPA of around 1.5. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

Most people hare can get through four year college very cheap or free with financial aid for being low income, a single parent, high GPA, playing sports. speaking other languages, or being disabled. There is also the unfortunate route of student loans. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

Back in my mom's day people got into UCLA at 17 just for having a grade point average of 3.5 or above, no SAT required. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

SATs are only relevant if someone is planning on going to a university straight out of high school (grade 12) for undergrad. One can have a poor score or completely avoid the SATs by going to two years of community college. Of course people can get into community college with a GED, so they can go to college if they are 18 years old without attending high school at all. I prefer the boards to a chat room. This way when I am away for the day I can read what was said earlier. That and this way there is no excuse for poor spelling and grammar :P -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

I don't know I would count erotic stories as porn, it can have the same result, but it's not a visual. That is, it's text. Edit: I see your point :P , that and I suppose imagination is equivalent to visuals. An option to check more than one would have made it more accurate. This board, research, other stuff like that, and I can honestly say I have never looked for porn. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

The newbie questions would be avoided for the most part but posting the information on hiding, adding, and removing avatars at the top of the page. [ Monday, March 14, 2005 14:49: Message edited by: Dolphin ] -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

I've only been out of high school long enough to be lazy. I'm studying with a mentor as an introduction to biochemistry and physiology/pathology. I'll go to UCLA for premed most likely in two years. I would have to do two years at junior college first. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

School does not make people more intelligent. It teaches the intelligent how to use their skills. I'm not to proud to say this but, there was a group of us who would more or less ditch school half the time. When it came to testing I did very well, so when report cards came around it showed I had retained what I was meant to learn. Some kids went every day, worked very hard, and failed half the tests. People seem to have a certain thought process that is part of their personality. I know a guy who learns a lot, and retains information very well. He's reading constantly, but when it comes to real life he lacks all common sense. What is intelligence?, mathematical and science capability?, reading comprehension?, spelling and grammar?, problem solving?, so on and so on. Testing well and life intelligence end up being very different things. In school we had a lot of busy work followed by tests. In high school I watched people with D average graduate with the same diploma as those with an A or B average (not including honor students in this). Grades K-12 are simply required education. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

Some of my answers are different than they would have been a month ago. I played all the Avernum and Geneforge games until I was too bored to even consider opening them again. This was after having played each game multiple times and being able to recite conversations before the NPCs said anything. I liked playing the new games and the scenarios because they were new stories and I didn't know what was going to happen next. Computer games are an escape from the world. They are a much less harmful method than most people use, assuming school and relationships don't suffer due to lack of doing anything else. hmm, only one skribbane head huh (thinking back on some past posts) -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

One of my closest friends was born with a visual acuity of 20/200 corrected and about 20/600 without visual aid. She has a little under half the vision of most people. They often mistook her for having a learning disability because she acted and learned differently than the other children. When they tried to put her in the special education classes she behaved badly because she was intelligent enough to know what the thought of her. She argued very well and could out wit any adult that chose to call her incapable of keeping up with her class mates. She never looked very intelligent on paper due to her lacking vision. That was my comment about the IQ test earlier. If you spoke to her for five minutes she was clearly a child with a lot of potential. The special education system can be harmful to children they don't understand. Today she is seeking her own education in alternative settings. We have talked about it, but she doesn't want to go to "conventional schools" because of what they put her through. Just thought I would share this, as it very close to home. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

whether or not that was the original intent that is what they are commonly used for today. When I was in kindergarten the whole class did a form of IQ test. Needless to say the children who didn't sit still or do exceptionally well were put in "special classes". -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

IQ test are a complete waste of time, I think so at least. The couple I've done here and there (for fun) were 50% visual. For example a multi colored unfolded object. They want you to visualize what it would look like once folded. This is not intelligence it is the ability to get a mental image of what something currently is and what it will be next. There were a couple questions that someone my age would simply not know because I am too young. Some do calculate age though. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |
