All of it. And in pretty equal proportions in fact. Today I used Google to find out something about I Ching divination, Google News to read up on the body count in Iraq, Iran's nuclear development, Wikipedia to learn about the history of the Communist Manifesto (for an internet discussion), Hyperiums and some other text-based morpgs, as well as exactly four message boards.

An option to check more than one would have made it more accurate. This board, research, other stuff like that, and I can honestly say I have never looked for porn.

Pretty much everything.

Mostly games, and surfing.

Never looked up porn?! Just once try a Google image search for... uhh... something that sounds interesting.

Maybe It's because I'm female, or I don't get off on pictures, I don't know :P

Hey, it's not just pictures. A friend of mine spends a considerable proportion of her time online reading erotic stories. This wouldn't be so bad, except that she uses the publicly-accessible computers at the university library to do so...

I don't know I would count erotic stories as porn, it can have the same result, but it's not a visual. That is, it's text.

Edit: I see your point :P , that and I suppose imagination is equivalent to visuals.

It's still an irresponsible use of educational resources. :P

(And incidentally, the etymology of "pornography" does derive from the Greek for "writing about prostitutes"; the term was originally applied mainly to written works.)

Internet porn? Why bother with all the terribly lousy stuff on the web when you can just download a DVD rip of a quality porn movie using a file sharing program?

I tend to use the internet mostly for forums, online journals, sports news, and the Facebook, a social network for college students.

Looks like Stugie has this down.

I recall Eros a writer, correct?

Eros? As in the son of Aphrodite, commonly referred to as Cupid? He may have corresponded with Sappho once in a while, I guess...

There is erotic art and there is pornography. There are erotic stories and there is pornography. Any medium can be used to produce worthless smut and, because we're talking about the internet here, it is. Frequently.

I marked "other" for similar reasons as posted above. Other than chatrooms per se, I use internet for all the other options and, as Stugie remarked, I also do some downloading and ripping.

And I guess the other thing is internet shopping, since that's pretty much the only way I can buy things here. (I still refuse to go to the street vendors and buy pirated DVDs, CDs, etc. It's amazing how open that piracy is here in Venezuela (yeah, that's right interpol agent perusing this post (right) come down here and stir some nests.))

Oh Mos Def, these forums are my chief mode of research. How many places can you find such an assortment of mental patients.
I maintain that no matter what site I visit on the Net be it Maxim,Much Music,MacAddict or otherwise I am still conducting research of national importance. So yeah lotz of research. :P

What? Us?! Mental patients?!?

I may have mental problems, but I'm not anyone's patient, because of them, yet.

I use the 'net for alot of stuff. From chatting with mates, during lunchtime, when they're at school to finding images of cute fluffy animals. Like kittens.

Don't, I'd say. This thread is quite fine for discussion, we don't need another poll and another thread filling up the boards. :)

I've heard that there is now a reputable and recognized sub-specialty of sociology, appropriately termed cybersociology, that would concern itself with forums. So yes, we may all be guinea pigs.

—Alorael, who has trouble associating "sociology" and "reputable" anyway thanks to his personal prejudices.
