The first game I played was Geneforge 2, and I really liked it, so I played Geneforge 1. After that I read there would be a Geneforge 3, and got all happy about it. The 2-month wait began and continues. I downloaded Avernum 3 and didn’t like it. I downloaded it 3 more times before I played it long enough to really get into it. It’s a very different style than Geneforge. Now I played and finished (in this order) Avernum 3, blades, 1, 2. I’m out of games :( I wish there were more scinerios for Blades of Avernum. Oh yeah I’m glad Jeff provides for Mac users first, that’s how I found these games in the first place… ALL games are for PC. I wanted to add this just because it is annoying me at the moment. Maybe it’s just me… I have a two-button scroll mouse, and the scrolling wheel can’t be used in the game. That would be nice, so I wouldn’t have to use the arrow keys all the time. Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

Root of all evil in General | |

If I may add my .02, First off forgive me if all has been said, I’m a newbie still wet behind the ears :) It seems to me the root to all “evil” (assuming there is a thought process, behavior, sensation or interaction that is truly evil) is fear. The two root human emotions are love and fear. All behaviors are to gain pleasure and avoid suffering. Hate is fear of being physically or emotionally harmed, Desire for great power is often the fear of being controlled, or the fear of being submissive, There are fears of being poor, mistreated, not excepted, unloved, judged, and so on. If humans lived without fear or lack of love would there be evil? Tortured souls torture others. Happy, nurtured souls tend to be more companionate towards others. -------------------- Nena Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

Has anyone used either editor? Are they likely to damage the game? Are they worth the risk? Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

hehe, sorry you’re right. After going back and checking it out again, I don’t see a way in. No lever, I’ll keep looking though. Maybe it has to be opened for by someone else, or an item is needed Posts: 2032 | Registered: Wednesday, January 26 2005 08:00 |

I agree with the Awakened for the most part. Though they did kind of brutally kill that servant mind. They are clean and productive, and still speak to the shapers with respect, and are free. They always told me to use the Geneforge, than when I did they were afraid of me. That was kind of annoying. The takers are almost on the right path. They are to fixated on revenge instead of improving themselves. They live in dirty conditions and their architecture has not greatly improved. That and they let the outsiders in, Truly lame. They should know with such behavior that as soon as the Shaper counsel found out they would all be killed. The Obeyers are just sad. I felt bad for them, but there is always that less enlightened part of us that is flattered by hundreds of little servile worshiping us. I would never beat, kill or treat them badly though. Maybe over time I could get them to gain some independence. They were so loyal that they would deem you “not a true shaper” and disobey you, they way to over trained.
