Is "Ender's Game" about that young kid, I think he was like 6 or 7, that was trained in that space simulation for a war, which turned out to be one giant game and he beat the crap out of some kid 5 years his senior? Maybe I got that book mixed up with another sci-fi genre book...

As a matter of fact, you got it right. That's just about the plot...

To add to the list of sci-fi, try the Honor Harrington series (the first 3-5 and first 3 of the anthologies are the best) by David Weber, as well as the sci-fi of David Drake.

Don't forget L.E. Modesitt, who's written both fantasy and sci-fi, or Timothy Zahn.

I bought and finished both Avernum 1 and Nethergate, and thought they were good. I demoed all three Geneforges, and liked them all about the same; the same with A2 and A4. I demoed BoA, and it was buggy and did wierd things to my computer when I played it (mainly making it not turn off). Homeland's demo was actually not bad...

The "Black Company" novels by Glen Cook. Starts with the novel of that name. Very dark, but very good - especially the first four.

Eh, tough choice. I'll go with Venarium. After all, it has historical peoples and axes.

Sorry, I mean 'Nethergate.' ;)

I'll willingly back Terry Brooks and Michael Crichton, especially Congo, Rising Sun and Timeline by the latter. Colleen McCullogh's First Man in Rome is good too.

There're others, but I can't remember them offhand.

I own it. Bought it with the original Avernum. When I get Avernum 2, I'm getting the hint book.

I am for my life and myself becoming the way I want it, or at least like Joseph Stalin.
I am hunting Imban, but only so I can ask Imban how to get away from Imban and, if such proves impossible, for $200 billion US.

Worst Game EVER! in General

Life is the worst game ever. I'm not talking about the board game or the computer game, if there is one, but life. Y'know why? Two reasons. First, not only are other people rude, but if you try to correct their rudeness they'll gang up on you. Second, you die at the end.

Hunh. Maybe it's not so bad after all!

I'll gladly take a job this summer, provided that it's permanent, and that the reason I'm working this summer is 'cause I'll be working at the job next summer.

We live pretty near too, only a couple of hours away. Though I'm sorry to tell you that NY is way better than MA. Massachusetts is too quite and nice to be the best.

Massachusetts has quite a few @$$holes, of both sexes. And for some reason they do that stuff to me... Grr! (I keep wondering how to solve that part - nothing so far.)

If I were working enough to have enough money I'd visit New York - I'm still open to recommendations, even though I may never act on them.

You thought correctly. Personally I like the ending version better, 'cause she's, you know, alive.

IQ really doesn't measure "active" intelligence, i.e. your cleverness or whatever it was that Einstein had that made him a genius.

2:1, much less different than some others I frequent. I'd be worried if I cared more about meeting someone from a board (not that I wouldn't mind). Oh, and I figure my "name" here outta be a clue.

I live in Massachusetts, though I'd move if I had the money, have no job even though I've applied, don't work out 'cause I can't afford it and enjoy Star Wars, Traveller, reading other stuff and things and other things. If anyone knows of a job PM me. (I had another account here but it disappeared.)

No, I didn't tell you my name.

Samus is a woman, not a man. They reveal that if you beat Super Metriod (the one for the SNES) in less than 3 hours.

I think it's just about my favorite game, even though I wish I had more SNES games (or PC games for that matter, or a job to pay for them).

I wouldn't mind a Nethergate 2, but it shouldn't be a sequel to the original (not directly, anyways).

I noted this a while ago, and I think someone else said it too, but maybe N2 should take place sometime during the Dark Ages or Mideval era. If the first, we could have Vikings versus Byzantines. If the second, we could have Crusaders on Crusade...

Oooo! I have a solution! Kick out Cheney and put in Dean. That way they'll have a balance without kicking Bush out.

I still like the Romans better, because even though they bathed with oil, they still bathed a few times a month.

And who's to say that the Celts didn't eat things that'd turn your stomach? :P

Always have a plot. Unless massive, random destruction IS the plot.
