In porters retreat in avernum 3, there are some horses. Is there any way you can buy them or gain access to them? -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Posts: 394 | Registered: Saturday, November 20 2004 08:00 |

There is an apprentice mage who teaches at the east side of the isle of bigail. The tower of the magi teaches alchemy, and so do the vahnatai in upper avernum. Oh, so does the guy that you can sell research tomes to in the portal fortress. -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Which do you think is the better game? I'd have to go with exile. It's the classic, and I just like the gameplay better. Although the vahnatai may have won the battle in a2, with the avernites, i'd have to say the empire would be victorious. Not only do they have the strength in numbers, they also have deadly archers compared with the vahnatai warriors, mages compared with vahnatai mages (order mages-vahnatai lords) and the vahnatai can't go aboveland, giving the empire a great advantage. -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! I doubt that idea would go far...btw, what would be the outcome of a mammal and reptile combining anyway? Another thought: that would be a far too superior race. They'd be magic wielding, razordisk, archers, warriors, and can live anywhere. That's kinda overstepping, isnt it? [ Thursday, November 25, 2004 15:58: Message edited by: -08 ] -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Also, for the travel part, I can see how it is unrealistic. Being able to skip over all the "cleared" territories is kinda unrealistic. But my guess is it was made because it would take too long traveling from 1 place to the next. I mean, just say you wanted to go back to the starting place to check something out (for reasons unknown) and you were all the way on the other side of the map. You'd be pretty poed wouldnt ya? ;) I can also concur with your last statement. I'd like to see a dual wileding feature on g3 as well. But I'd like to add on to that thought. The way I see it, I'd like to be able to dual wield two short range 1 hand weapons, like exile. (I dont think you can do that in avernum, correct me if im wrong) That just about wraps up all my statements about G3. :) -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! I know! He could maike an Avernum 4: Back to Avernum. It would be like history repeated itself all over again. The empire banished the avernites to the underground, except avernum would be different, and there would be newer creatures. In my opinion, that would be awesome to have another newer game like that. :) -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Ohhhh ok. Thanks for clearing that problem up. I agree, there are many many scenarios which I think are better than Jeff's stories as well. :) Don't get me wrong though. Ugh. I'm not a big fan of FPS's. I used to be when I was littler, but now its boring. Theres no strategy involved, unlike RPG's. Oh Btw, I played doom 3 too. It wasn't as good as I hoped it would be. -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Posts: 394 | Registered: Saturday, November 20 2004 08:00 |

Lol. Maybe if you tried going away from the enemy and then casting it, it might work. However, that is one disadvantage in avernum: you can't choose where to summon the creature. This also applies to shooting things and casting spells: you can only hit a monster, which really sux. :( I don't know what rakshasas are or look like cause I only got the demo version. But, unless you're fighting a bunch of guys and a mage (like the orb of thrlani quest) then I would recommend trying to get a nice mix of fighters and mages/priests, even though the drake lord is instoppable! He usually casts spells, which aren't as effective. Well, I got the demo versions too. Since you gain at least 1 exp for every monster killed, you level up limitless. You can find level 3 in the back of the vahnatai fortress in avernum 3 for this. That way you can capture anything. Also, heres a hint to have some extra skill points: sell items you might need alot of to levy, who sells an infinite amount. Get a research tome and sell it to him, then buy as many as you can and go to the portal fortress and sell it to a guy in the library. :P -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Lol. If you're really desperate, pants give you SOME protection. ;) Btw, the iridium pants are found on the orb of thrlani quest, in case you were wondering. I'm pretty sure it protects from a decent amount of acid.(like 10% or something) -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Yeh, Gunshy, I keep important things tabbed. After a couple games, I memorize everything though, and its no prob. :) But its good to keep notes, just in case you get tired of the game and decide to go back o it months later, as i always do. -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Im not sure. Once I downloaded a version of exile, and the graphics sucked, mostly because it was all dark. The cave floor was black, I remember that much. He might be talking about that one. The graphics looked like the weird exile 2 ones I mentioned earlier. -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Yeah. I was just checking it out. Another little potion icon comes up called "resurrection". At least for avernum 3. But all the games have the same concept, so hopefully you know where I'm getting at. :) If you aren't a big fan of cheating, the cost is kinda high. (700+ for the healer at shayder) So prices aren't exactly cheap. -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Actually, Timber, you're right and wrong at the same time. (if that makes any sense) Ever think of multiple poisoning a target? Its the same works for exile with the poison spells. Try hitting something with a whole bunch of spray acid spells, then they'll be taking like 50 damage per every other turn. ;) -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Lol. That was a good one selfish. Just how did you happen to stumble upon that link anyway.(just curious) Ach. It does bring up a good point though. The limited save files sux. But...it is a good game, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying i didnt like it or anything, its just the way you play it. You can choose to be the madman that kills everything in sight and get no stealth, or you can be the highly stealthy cool guy! Plus, they got the best weapon: fiber wire! Well, if that doesnt appeal to you, i guess you could be happier without the game. But the great thing about the stealthy way is, its more strategy. Oh well, I guess this topic isn't really a success. Theres no real hitman fans out there. :( -------------------- You can take my Windows XP when you pry my cold, dead fingers off the mouse! Of course, I'm not saying its the best game ever. Actually, it sucks compared to alot of games that i like, but its still a pretty good game, and was worth the money to buy. (knights of the old republic is waaaaay better!!! Go kotor!) The reason i dont really like thehitman games as much as others is cause you can utilize the gameplay like an fps, which sux. ;) But, its still a great game.
