No, half the world's population is below median intelligence. Not necessarily below mean intelligence, although the whole world is a suffeciently large sample to justify a normal approximation, so you could be right. Just maybe.

My personal philosophy? Freedom isn't doing what you want, when you want, freedom is sticking to your principles when it's easier not to.

I've got to direct a play in a drama competition that lasts ~10-15 minutes. Preferrably comedy, and easy to act (This is an in-school competition, so the acting quality varies massively).

The problem is, I'm an uncultured heathen, and I don't know of a single play that fits the bill. If anyone has any ideas, please please post them.

(The rehearsing starts as soon as we get back in September. Yes, that leaves me a month and a half. I'll need it.)

Why do you want to know this? Can't you live through a week without posting a topic, that you have to start one as useless as this?

I think people are making an effort to make it flow, which is bad. It's more funny when it doesn't.

And I'll take number 2, since I haven't yet.

That happened to me with Geneforge, and the problem went away with more RAM. This appears to be because I have Windows ME, which likes to have lots of resources available before it agrees to co-operate with the user...

About the scripter:

AoE2 is Age of Empires 2. The AoE scripter works by you defining a set of ifs, of preset types (if unit x gets to space y, if unit x dies, if player x has y units of resource z, etc). These are then named. The player can also define thens, (remove unit x, give player x y units of resource z, order unit x to go to place y, etc.) These are then linked together in blocks, so that 3 ifs cause 4 thens to happen.

I've got to go, I'll explain the RM2K system later.

-E-

EDIT: I'm back.

RM2K is actually quite similar, except it's structured like proper script, and actually much harder to use. What it essentially does is writes C-style script for you (or maybe it's more basic-style. Djur?) You can click on various buttons for the different commands, then select parameters and it inputs the actual code for you. RM2K is freeware, and you could download it and have a look here.

Well, one of them has to do a different one. How about if Sir David changes, I think he posts more often. And I'll do number 1 this time.

What Drakey means is that TGO has two characters, one an invincible super-warrior and one that can summon Egyptian gods. He claims they have weaknesses, but if he's not going to describe them there's no point.

Anyway:

As soon as Rathlan wakes up, he takes out the gold again and begins to heat it up. Removing his own helmet, he dips it in, and leaves it to cool.

'You people, if we're going to attack Sirius, we'd better all make sure we're protected against his mind control. Sir David?'

Sir David hands Rathlan his helmet, and Rathlan quickly coats it in gold.

'TGO? Oberisuku? Neither of you wear helmets. I can make you helmets of pure gold, but they will be quite fragile. And how about you, Vynn? Vynn? Where's Vynn got to?'

He says it's because the flaming/spamming outweighed the usefulness of the topic. He wasn't going to lock it just for Motrax' spam, but when every post thereafter was simply a flame, it had to go.

After checking:
4 of the 22 posts made after Motrax started spamming were on-topic, the rest were flames towards him of a greater or lesser degree. Any topic with that much flaming should be locked, and no amount of 'locking lets Motrax win' will stop that.

While this is to some degree hypocricy(sp?), the topic wouldn't have been locked if people had just ignored him or asked him in a civilised manner to stop.

1) Ermarian could have more sea, or the other continents could be relatively larger.
2) There's nothing wrong with player-invented Exile history. The name Ermarian doesn't appear in the series, either.

What I meant was, why is it even important whether your forum lives or not? What does it actually contain that would make it a pity if it bowed to the inevitable and became stagnant? And if the answer is nothing, why are you asking people to join?

Contrariwise, it is quite possible to be able to get worked up easily but almost never become unhappy.

And Dave did have a point: not a very good one, to be sure, but it's certainly true that while you lot are on about freedom of speech, every time Dave tries to voice his opinion, you tell him not to.

1) The topic was meant to be about being nice; that is getting close to an argument.
2) It may require less intelligence to flame, but you are more likely to make others agree with you if you present a reasoned argument.

Since we're meant to be saying nice things, I'd like to say that LF, who started off as a real case for almost immediate banning (shik ara!), has very happily turned out alright and is now participating properly. Well done!

Which games? The ones currently in the works are Geneforge 2 and BoA, neither of which are at a beta-testing stage to the best of my knowledge. Radiant is busy with Leylines and ST2. You can download Leylines from here, and you don't need to sign up to beta-test it. If you want to beta-test ST2, you could check the SubTerra forum and ask there, but I think he's got as many people as he needs.

Welcome! It's nice to have someone so effusive in their praise for Spidweb.

Questions:

1) I have to confess I didn't completely understand that. If you're asking about the possibility of a Blades of Avernum, there is one coming out right now. If you've got a specific query about it, there is a specific BoA forum.
2) The Blades of Exile Webring is mostly compposed of sites that are still solvent. Most of said sites have BoE graphics on them.
3) The only way to make a game that's not either very specific to the game maker you use or a simplistic platform/puzzle one, is to learn a programming language.
