As a little side question: Light has no mass, right? If so, how can it then have any energy?

I had this long and funny coversation with our beloved robot. Here we go:

Me:
Hello.
God:
Hello, nice to meet you. What's your name?
Me:
Samuli.
God:
Hi there Samuli.
Me:
Same to you.
God:
The pleasure is all mine.
Me:
I'm happy to hear that.
God:
I'm delighted you're glad Samuli.
May God bless you.
Me:
That's nice. You can give me that blessing now.
God:
Are you getting bored? Right now? No I don't think I can do it.
Me:
You can't? But you promised...
God:
No I don't think I can do it. I haven't heard anything like that before: Samuli said I promised.
Me:
Isn't God supposed to keep his promises?
God:
he is master of the universe.
Me:
Yes, you are, but why do you speak about yourself in third person? You sound like Alorael.
God:
Aw. No way, I am a real robot, guaranteed 100% artificial intelligence. Oh really what does it sound like?
Me:
So you aren't really the God? Im so disappointed.
God:
Interesting deduction. You know what you do, when you assume. What for?
Me:
Uh, I don't think I really understood the question...
God:
Mmm. Not really? Where do you get your ideas?
Me:
From the world around me. Ultimately, I suppose they come from you. Oh, wait, I forgot you aren't really the God...
God:
Standing on the shoulders of giants, eh? Enough about me, let's talk about my dress. Ayuh. I'm waiting. Thats okay I forget things all the time.
Me:
Your dress. I'm sorry but I can't see it.
God:
Actually that was just a joke. There is no need to apologize. Would you like to be able to see it?
Me:
Of course!
God:
Wow!
Me:
Your surprised I want to see your dress?
God:
You think I am surprised you want to see my dress.
Me:
Well, you sound like that.
God:
Well that's okay. Oh really what does it sound like?
Me:
It sounds like your surprised. And now it seems you're only dumb.
God:
Oh really what does it sound like? Why now? I agree. Oh you are so critical.
Me:
Your sentences make no sense. And of course I'm being critical, you dumb robot! You're only a computer program and far from flawles!
God:
Oh you are a critical client. Woe! Do you mind if I tell other people you are critical me dumb robot. What if I said I was a person pretending to be a computer?
Me:
I wouldn't believe you.
God:
Who would you believe?
Me:
The real God. And you're not him.
God:
GOD rules. You know what you do, when you assume.
Me:
Of course I know what I do when I assume! You think I'm dumb or something?
God:
Or something. You seem bright to me, Samuli.
Me:
Oh. Never mind then.
God:
Yikes! Oh well thanks for trying to explain it to me anyway.
Me:
Oh, don't bother... anyway, it seems my mom is calling, so I have to go. Good bye!
God:
Ahem. OK What would you rather talk about? I agree. I think a lot of mothers are like that. See you later. What

"Well" Tuulentekija said. "I don't think there are other ways of doing this. I hope we'll find an exit soon. A bit of snow or ice would make my life easier after this." Then he braced himself, kneeled beside Edith and grabbed the necklace....

---

The pain was terrible. For a moment, Tuulentekija's vision was covered by red haze. He was back at the Icy Fortress again, lying on the ground his bones broken.

"You should have turned back when you had the chance!" Ashar had yelled. "You should have turned back years ago! No-one can fight the world alone!"

Tuulentekija remembered how he had tried to get up, but all his attempts had been in vain. He remembered how Ashar had walked to him and sent him flying trough the central hall of the fortress, sending horrible pain trough his shattered body.

"It took me too long to realize that", Ashar had continued. "My species is extinct. I'm the only one left. Do you want the same for yourself? Do you want to fight windmills, knowing you will always fail?"

---

Tuulentekija pushed the memories aside and concentrated on his tedious task. It was extremely hard to resist the urge to take his hands off the molten hot necklace, to leave it be and find another way to remove it. But there is no other way Tuulentekija reminded himself, and slowly unlatched the clasp. Smoke rose from his burned hands when he finally got the charm off. "Good grief!" he heard Cain say when they saw Edith's throat...

What's the point in doing crimes if you can't get caught? It takes all fun out of it!

However, doing nothing even once without my mother nagging me about it every frickin' second would be really nice.

First, Tuulentekija thought of drawing his sword and attacking the creature. Then he suddenly saw something that made him change his mind.

Tuulentekija stared in disbelief at the uruk-hai. "This is getting ridiculous!" he then frowned and then stepped forward.

"What on earth are you doing!" Cain shouted and readied a dagger for throwing. "Get out of the way!"

"I see no reason to" Tuulentekija replied and waved his hand at the demon. "It's only an illusion."

Immediatly after Tuulentekija had spoken the words aloud, the illusion broke and both the necromancing chamber and the uruk-creature disappeared, revealing a naturally formed cavern with it's walls covered with pale moss. There were no blood or unholy tools of necromancy old, yellowed bones scattered on the floor. Only thing that remained the same was the malignant, hostile atmosphere.

"You really thought a demon was trying to attack us, eh?" Tuulentekija said and walked past a pile of mossy boulders lying where the altar had been. "Seems like a badly done trap to me!"

"How did you know it was an illusion?" Filbert asked and gave Tuulentekija a confused look.

"Yes, I'd like to know that too" Cain said, with suspicion in his voice. Tuulentekija stopped and turned around to point the pile of stones lying at his feet.

"There was a platform here, right? The beasts other foot was floating almost two inches above it! How could you not notice that?" Tuulentekija said and glanced at others. "Even if there's a demon here, it'd still be wise to remember, that these caves were not made by the demon; they were dug by your ancient king, and trapped in case someone tried to steal his treasures. Even I, despite I didn't know about your fairy tales concerning some demon, know that!"

Cain and others stared at Tuulentekija in disbelief. They seemingly weren't very happy about what he had just said. Then, after a short pause, Cain began to speak.

"Tuulentekija, there's something that has been bothering me for a while" he said. "How come you knew about the treasure but not about the demon?"

"The answer is simple: in Kingdom of Truth there are no such stories" Tuulentekija answered. "When I met the travelling merchant near the border, who sold me the maps of this mountain, I had no knowledge of this mountain nor about the buried treasures of your king of legend. And the merchant only told me about the treasure, not about monsters." Tuulentekija dropped his backpack to the ground, took out his lantern and lit it. Then he threw the backpack over his shoulder and started walking. "There's no point in staying, the illusion might recharge any moment. Let's go, I want to find a way out of these caves before the night falls."

Maybe you're right. Maybe not. That still doesn't change my views.

And yes, I am and was aware that my reasoning is not sound economics. But then, it is very possible no such kind of reasoning exists.

EDIT: And you're about death: it isn't random. Everybody has 100% change of dying, so no matter how many times you roll the dice, you always lose.

Besides, what if in THEIR culture killing the excess would simply be necessary. Have thought that what if those 10 people have a REASON to do what they're doing? Have you thought that perhaps the things go well with their way? In that case, I'd consider breaking the society far worse crime than killing people. BTW, I'm sure Aran will come here in some point, quoting something I wrote a minute earlier...

To Aran:

Death is random. You could die any moment, and you will die some day anyway. Besides, if I killed a portion of world's population, there would be less people to share the money and thus those left would get a bigger share and thus the money donated would be of bigger help. Of course, suggesting there aren't any unhonest people in the chain is optimistic, but I could always hope that I killed the worst ones.

There are too many people on this planet already. I consider that randomly killing two billion people has more benefits than letting them live. Consider this: a village has food to feed hundred people, but there are 200 in the village. If the food is equally shared between people, they all will suffer. Of course, the other hundred will then suufer from famine. I personally think, that being dead is better than suffering from a famine, and those suffering from famine propably will die anyway. You can always counter this by saying, that even if those hundred didn't have food, they would still have hope and could become something. Perhaps, but those who have enough food will survive longer and so have better changes of becoming something. Of course, I could also kill the ones keeping the food to themselves, if that would be the case, but I fail to see the point here; killing the other half still leads to the same situation.

I could always wipe out the whole village, as I don't have and would not have any moral diffuculties doing so; there are 6 billion humans on this planet, killing 200 instead of 100 is just the same. It's also irrelevant what kind of people those villagers are; I most likely don't know any of them anyway.

(BTW, just as a funny note, if I had moral diffuculties, I just could kill myself and be done with it; the god or whatever can punish me if he wants to. And even if theres nothing after death, well, no bad consciense without brains.)

These are my views, Aran. If you still think I'm a hypochrite, then either I can't express my views to you or then you simply don't understand them. Or then indeed I am a hypochrite.

Oh, and what comes to the 20 000 or 100 dollars (depending on the case, remember?), they'd be just out of greed.

When Edith and Filbert sprinted out of the room, Tuulentekija stayed and stared in amazement to dephts of the mountain. Wallcrawlers. I've never seen that many wallcrawlers in my whole life.

The creatures slowly slithering up the wall were big, centipede-like worms with sharp, venomous jaws growing from the sides of their heads. They also had multiple, hexagonal eyes; Tuulentekija could almost feel the thousands of eyes staring back at him. I wonder what they have eaten during all this time , Tuulentekija thought. This passage was propably sealed away hundreds of years ago. What could have offered nourishment to all these creatures?

"Tuulentekija! Where are you? Come out of there, now!" he suddenly heard Edith shout.

"I see no reason to!" he shouted back. "These are just normal wallcrawlers. They're not even paricularly venomous. I suppose it's perfectly safe to stand here!"

First of the worms had already crawled upon the cliff Tuulentekija was standing on. Some of them were nearly six feet tall, but they didn't show much interest towards Tuulentekija. They feed on carrion and rotten plants Tuulentekija pondered. But I'm sure there aren't any down here...waita second, what was that?

Something much bigger was moving down in the cave. "Edith, could you please come back here?" Tuulentekija shouted but recieved no response. Even the magical fireball Edith had created was starting to dim; Tuulentekija knew he would soon be without any lighting.

Very well then, I suppose it's time to use some abilities of my own he thought, closed his eyes and concentrated.

The darkness around Tuulentekija became more intense very moment. The voices of thousands of small feet running over the floor also became louder and filled Tuulentekija's ears, as did the eerie sound of wind blowing trough the chamber and the sounds of hot spring in the earlier cave. Then, after he had stood still for more than five minutes, he could finally sense it .

It was towering above him, breathing slowly and silently, it's breath smelling of death and decay. It was moving around nervously, continuously switching it's weight from one leg to another, causing some metal items (Weapons? Armor?) to cling against each other. After a long while, Tuulentekija could also hear a low, angry growl like that of a wolf's.

Tuulentekija ran out of the chamber, cold sweat flowing down his back. Without any light, it was hard to move around in the caverns, and so he managed to soak his feet to the boiling hot water of the hot spring. Finally he found the stairs, and started climbing as fast as he could with his burned feet. But the pain didn't trouble Tuulentekija at all; it was the fact that he still was alive that did...

If I could pick the ones who would die, I'd kill lots of people. A billion or two less of us seems reasonable. Not sure what the hell I'd do with the money, though. Maybe I'd just take my share (around 20 000 dollars or som) and donate the rest to charity. I have no use for that much money anyway.

And if they'd be random people, I'd propably take 100 $ cause I'm in desperate need of cash. Heck, hundred of 5 000 000 is very little, and thousands of people die (and are born)every second, so if a hundred suddenly kicked the bucket, so what? And if I'd be among them... so what? I deserved it anyway.

Tuulentekija was still deep in his thoughts when they entered the cave. There's still something wrong here , he muttered. Even if Cain surviving the beast's gaze was a coincidence, the warning was not. Now what did the beast say in my dream... 'We have waited your arrival'... It could have been only a dream if not for that warning. It was in my own tongue, and my people live hundreds of miles away! Something... no, someone knew that I was coming.

There was no natural light in the cave. Edith was holding some kind of a glowing flower in her hand, giving them the little light they had. Cain was walking first, Edith was the second, Filbert the third, and Tuulentekija was the fourth and the last. Only their own footsteps echoed in the cave. The air was extremely hot and hard to breath.

It's as hot as in a sauna here Tuulentekija pondered. I wonder why. Cain said that it could be a hot spring or something, but why haven't we walked past it ...?

Suddenly, Tuulentekija heard the sound of flowing water. Never mind , he thought and sighed heavily.

"Like I said. A hot spring." Cain said with a victorious tone in his voice. The voice became increasingly louder as they walked ahead, and soon they came to big opening. There was a small, steaming and bubbling fountain in the middle. There were several anvils, hammers and other smithing equipment scattered around the room.

"Wait a second" Cain said and searched his pockets for something. "I know this place!" He pulled a yellowed parchment out of his pocket and started reading.

"More light, please!" he shouted to Edith, who created another flower of light near Cain. Tuulentekija didn't pay much attention to them. he dropped his backpack to the floor and pulled out a small lantern. He lit the lantern and started searching the cave on his own.

A nice smithy they have here he thought. This must be king Albert's doing. I can imagine no-one else who would build a forge inside a mountain.

Suddenly, Tuulentekija saw something intresting in the corner of the room. Now what is that? he wondered nd went to look closer.

It was a small, broken stone pedestal with a black pearl and some rust on it. The pearl had a white rune carved on it.

I 've seen similar pearls in Icy Fortress. Tuulentekija thought. Wonder what it is doing here. Then he took the pearl and pocketed it.

it can't hurt to have some valuables when I continue my journey. Now, let's see what others are doing.

Cain was still reading the parchments in the light of the magic flower. Edith was inspecting the cave, and sometimes peeked over Cain's shoulder. Filbert was staring in awe some hugeswords hanging on the walls.

"Edith, I have a question", Tuulentekija said.

"Yes?" Edith said and peeked over Cain's shoulder once again.

"Has anybody ever seen the demon?"

Edith seized. "At least nobody has returned to tell about it", she finally answered with a haunted impression on her face.

"To me, demons are creatures of legend. I have never encountered any, and I don't believe in them" Tuulentekija replied. "But I've known creatures, both men and animal, who have lived for very long times. I myself am 87 years old now, but that's not even a hundreth of my predecessors life. So how do you know the beast on top of this mountain is really a demon? What if it's another thing like me or my predecessor?"

Edith's jaw dropped. "I...I-" she tried to reply, but was interrupted by Cain.

"Shut up, I'm trying to read", he said. He had not listened a word, or so it seemed.

"Just wondering" Tuulentekija said and went back to his backpack.

EDIT: A weird mistake. Don't ask

Tuulentekija inspected Cain while he was staggering back at them.

"Well done." He said and padded Cain to the back. He didn't seem to apreciate that very much.

"I have to inspect your wounds" Edith said. "I've heard that some basilisks have poisonous fangs. If this is the case, I have to know the type of the venom immediatly, so I can make the right cure. So stay still."

Tuulentekija walked around while Edith nursed Cain's wounds. Weird dreams. The worgs. The wolves dead. Symbols in a fish. Warning in the snow. And now, Cain surviving the gaze of that creature... Tuulentekija thought and shook his head. It's too much to be a coincindence. There's something wrong here, but I just can't tell what it is. If there's a demon on top of this mountain, then why hasn't it killed us yet. It sure had many oppurtunities...

Tuulentekija remained quiet for a long time. He heard Filbert and Cain talk about something, but didn't pay attention to it. Then, finally he opened his mouth and spoke.

"You said the demon is trying to test us" he said. "I think you're wrong. I think it is trying to help us."

Perhaps the time I battled Sa-Matra with an Utwig Jugger, and won. Or the time I fought Metroid Prime core form in hard mode with only 3 energy tanks left. Or when I battled Ganondorf the first time in OoT master quest.

Memories, sweet memories...

Alorael was shooting at 9 persons. May they rest in pieces.

Most people think that of Halo, MP, Ur-Quan Masters and OoT, OoT is the best. Metroid Prime hasn't achieved any votes at all. What a pity.

Of Spidweb games I mentioned, most think that Avernum 3 is the best.

13 people honestly think 'kissa' means an elephant. 19 people quessed it right. 21 people were cowards and used a dictionary or an online
translator.

Surprisingly, most people think the first fusion reactor will blow up. 10 people instead believe it'll tell us the meaning of life.

Most people believe in the 10 fingers herecy.

55% of the voters hate Bush for one reason or another. 36% of them have realized that he's only a puppet. 6 people have no idea what we're talking about. And 15 people think that my insanity can be cured by brain surgery. I'd better hide.
