I believe the blackness-not-clearing has to do with tabbing out of A4; I just experienced it for the first time after an extended browsing session and switching back in to A4. Shorter switches haven't made it happen, though. (OS 10.4.3, Powerbook G4 1.5 GHz 12") -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. quote:Sadly. Oh, and since I never chipped in, the worst (technically) game I ever played was Flying Heroes, which was amazingly crash-prone. But I liked the gameplay until I realized there were far better shooters out there. Gameplay wise I've never played anything truly awful as I just don't play that many games. -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. Video drivers for this? Heh. I've never found Jeff's newer engines to be terribly efficient; when I was using my upgraded-to-G3 400MHz system Geneforge and BoA had some noticeable slowdown points. If it helps you any, sometimes when traveling long distances it burps on my 1.5 G5. -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. quote:That's awesome. I think I need to play it before I die. The Myst series simply focuses on different things than most computer games; for all of you who don't like I'll simply point out that the original was the best-selling game of all time until The Sims. (Though I admit that doesn't necessarily make a game good; I hated The Sims.) Though I wouldn't know myself, having had a traumatic childhood experience with Myst. I tried to play it too early and got scared by all the yelling people and mysterious things and not being able to see behind me. -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. Characters don't die, they just go unconscious. And then you magically transport them around with you until you get back to a town, at which point they revive. I believe all that's lost are the XP they miss in any battles. ;) However, it can be irritating since you also lose access to their inventory while they're dead. :( -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. Wait until you have $60 and buy the trilogy. Seriously. quote:A4 is Carbonized, it only technically requires 8.1. Having said that, even on a genuine 8.1 system it'd be pretty slow...my 9600 with a G3/400 was pretty slow in BoA, and while the scripts aren't being interpreted for A4, other things are boosting the requirements. -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. I've actually found this one considerably easier to survive than the others so far. Physical combat is way more effective in the early game than it normally is. -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. An effective government would reduce poverty and starvation by giving those who were starving the resources they need not to. Where do they get those resources? From the people who aren't starving. Namely, the rich. And on a side note, people can't live on potatoes and onions. ;) -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. quote:Your example is terrible...Bloke A is already in the top 1% or so. A better example would be your Bloke A verse Bloke C who had to drop out of high school to help pay medical expenses when his little brother's arm broke and now has to keep working 2 minimum-wage jobs to keep himself fed and his mother in a house. If Bloke C works 50 hours/week at physically exhausting labor he earns $13,390 a year before taxes. Bloke A is probably earning that much weekly by sitting on his backside and watching his nearly tax-free investments grow (13390 is roughly 7% annual growth). -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. I finished both of those quests. The only ones I've got left are "Metal for Dawdy" (which I doubt ever ends), "Translate Scrolls" (the ones from Monastery), "Go to Castle," "Wanted: Graymold," "Rat Hunt" (I've been through the whole region and have 4; I'm not looking for more), and "Message to Silvar." Some of those are from the job boards. I can't order at 10 AM tomorrow as I'll be taking a chemistry final until 11. Besides which the phone frightens me. :/ -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. Posts: 322 | Registered: Monday, April 12 2004 07:00 |

That demo seemed a whole lot shorter than the others. :( How long's the rest of the game compared to others? EDIT: Oh, and he needs to officially release it so I can register already! Time to go see what's available in the giant lands by Fort Monastery. I'm playing on a Powerbook and so searching for secret doors is a pain. The few places I've looked hadn't had any, but the manual actually mentions them in a section title. But if I'm missing all kinds of awesome stuff I"ll be sad. :( -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were. I'm just too literal and nitpicky for my own good, is all. "Ain't" is present in the Webster's Collegiate dictionary I have from the 1980s. It may not be accepted in formal English, but who uses formal language on the boards? Anyways, since you guys apparently have no sense of intellectual dumb humor, I'll be on my way. :P -------------------- There are two kinds of game players...those who are newbies, and those who were.
