Spell scam? in Avernum 4

At first I paid them (thinking I must be getting something for my money), but later I became skeptical. Anyone else run into this? I can come back with specific examples if that would be helpful.
It's not so much the difference between learning and improving, its just that the trainers are able to improve the spell twice. That the first time is to learn it means nothing to them. The price is the same.

Check Spells/Traits, which I believe is accessed through the stats window for an individual character.

It should be possible. Just get permission by playing through the game normally, then reset the day via character editor.

No, I'm usually not. And Google only told me that I'm a one-episode character who would've killed a man were it not for a timely Junior Mint.

I never had to pass a written test to graduate high school.

Missouri just has the Missouri Assessment Program, which everybody has to take like four tests in throughout the course of high school. Of course, they have no bearing on your graduating, they just represent how well the school teaches... the test.

EDIT: That said, my year of my high school dodged so many bullets in the form of extra tests, strange graduation requirements, the written ACT/SAT sections, and so on, that there could very well be some test in place that I'm unaware of.

I tend to just walk. Long walks around my town are rather enjoyable, and walks around my college campus are even better. That said, I have no bike right now (I had a rental for the last school year), but I used to bike... occasionally.

I might take up running this summer, but St. Louis humidity tends to drain the life out of you pretty quickly.

Very true... my best party still has a bunch of "Scrolls of Flight" from testing Shipwrecked. We need some sort of designer-authored agreement to prevent unleashing this sort of problem. A Geneva Convention of sorts, but one that people will actually listen to.

Well... not sure what to think of this. I'm sure I'd have an opinion if your scenario had been released already, but as is, this is just kind of cryptic.

As for the flying stuff, there's still the workaround for giving it a special state in the scenario script, just a party status check. Granted that does nothing for making items that will transfer correctly.

So, flying skips the states completely? No way to force it? (I'm thinking a party status check again)

Or rather, causing disease in the enemy. Possibly acid damage at higher levels.

Cattle Rage probably causes charming or confusion, Mad Cow Disease style. Bovine Thud sounds as close to X's anvil spell as we'll ever get. Colt of Fire sounds like a summoning spell, and technically goes outside of the puns' themes. Sticks to Steaks... transmuting sticks to steaks?

You know, it's become standard practice for so many people to try and skirt around big issues in today's world, particularly in the media and politics. It's refreshing to see someone who can confidently and openly assert their opinion on something which happened decades ago.

Typical rich kid, I expect. Got a huge inheritance, got the Manse, and bought the Alien Blade just because it was "exotic". Probably never even used it.

(Side note: I imagine that the sword would make a terrible vegetable cutter, what with the poisoned blade and all)

Alternately, Hawke could've been a famous adventurer who hid his most valuable weapon away in the house awarded to him by a grateful and freshly-rescued mayor of Lorelei. That would be awesome.
